Dined here in 2016. Interior design is on point - clean lines and modern. Food served is like tapas style. Small plates, reasonably priced. Greek food here has a modern twist so of you want the big serving traditional Greek food - you're better off finding another place. Food was good the first time we went there. We decided to come back again with friends, but strangely it didn't taste as good as I remembered it to be. There are more seating downstairs. The weekday brunch menu features a good variety of modern Greek and classic meat and pasta dishes. Mediterranean starters like the tahini yogurt and Greek salad taste fresh, clean and has plenty of acidity to go along while sprinkles of dill add a herbal undertone. The chicken dish was a crowd pleaser because it was just so moist throughout. The pasta dishes (mushroom risotto and maniatiki village pasta with a runny egg on top) was a tad bit too salty for our taste. Ambience is modern and staff is very friendly. For the quality and taste, the food is definitely too pricey and is the reason I didn't give it more than 3 stars. read more

Beautiful design, friendly service, flavorful food and wonderful tableware. There are so many amazing sounding dishes on the menu, so we had a hard time choosing! We went for the Koulori Briam which is basically a 'bagel' stuffed with grilled vegetables, cheese and stacked crispy chips. Hits the spot. We shared some Feta Saganaki which was delicious. Perfect for dipping and to accompany most dishes. The OPSO Benedict with salmon & dill was nice but nothing amazing. Happy accident. Arriving too early for the nearby Pizza Nativa I thought I can give Oopso a go (I checked Yelp first). And what a great go that was! After quick research I started with Tsoureki which turned out to be a brioche-like round bake sprinkled with roasted almonds and with hazelnut sauce on the side. The real event started with the smell - green, sappy, cedar, pine cones, amazingly fresh and very non-brioche. This is thanks to the addition of traditional greek spice - mastic (also known as arab gum) which is a sap from a tree local to the mediterranean area. The nutty spread beautifully complimented the sappy notes resulting in a pungent and delicious combination. The second dish I tried was a waiters recommendation for a classic greek dish (after Tsoureki I wanted more Greece :)) - sourdough with scrambles eggs, cherry tomatoes and goats cheese. From the moment my body breached the threshold of the sturdy oaken doors, I felt like the only girl in the world A woman immediately appeared at my side, asking what I needed. She took my hand, her soft but firm grasp ensured me I was safe. As she sat me down, I couldn't help but think of the last time I was in a restaurant like this. Subdued banter among friends, the low glow from candles on the tables and the caress of the ovens warmth on my skin. Needless to say, I was eager to place my order. Yannis, a tall, dark haired boy came to my table and asked to help with anything I needed. At first, I was caught off guard, trying to decipher his exotic Greek accent. But his inviting smile and piercing gaze was enough to tell me exactly what I needed to hear. The intensity of what I felt consumed me and while I was slightly nervous, I knew exactly what to do. It just felt right. I'll take the croquette I said. Without missing a beat yannis obliged. But it seemed he wasn't satisfied there.. he leaned close to we and whispered in my ear "I'll bring you that and more." I knew then and there the night had just begun. From then on my body was at his mercy. He suggested the cauliflower, peiniril tigania and the fish & beets. Not wanting to seem too eager, too willing I was hesitant to order. He sensed my desire in my hesitation, Yannis always does, and with a smirk said "are you sure". I couldn't resist any longer. I relinquished control. ... My body and senses were overwhelmed as wave after wave of pleasure advanced my table. The firm, perfectly golden brown nature of the croquette shell was only outdone by the melted smokey insides that flowed from within. The cauliflower. A full, embellished head seasoned with Mediterranean herbs and hazelnut more than satisfied my tastebuds and made my memory of the croquette hazy. I honestly thought my experience climaxed with the cauliflower, but I was proved wrong by the tigania. A full-bodied, buttered, flaky crust embraced yogurt dressing and charred chicken breast with confidence. The explosive combination of flavors made me quiver. I lost control and let it fully consume me. My night may have peaked there, but my dining partner was yet to be satisfied. As the fish appeared at the center of the table, my mind was already wandering, thinking about the next time I would return. But encouraged by my partners' pleasure, I became present and my finger slowly encroached to the table, the fork, the fish. We've been waiting for Opso to open in the neighbourhood. They have outdoor seating which is great because we have a dog and we tried them out for breakfast this weekend. Food: We ordered the eggs and soldiers which the eggs were pretty standard, but the soldiers had cheese on them which made them different and delicious. We also ordered the pancakes which was actually just one pancake that had cream cheese, strawberry jam and berries (today were blueberries). I have to tell you that the pancake although just one was AMAZING! I am not sure what kind of batter they use, but it was delicious and I could've eaten 10 of them. Drinks: We ordered three lattes. Price: 22.95 GBP for two people. Definitely reasonable. Ambiance: We sat outside which was really nice because the sun was out. Paddington Street isn't too busy with foot traffic so you can eat in peace. Service: Very attentive staff. Our server was not only friendly, but very nice. Would I go back? Yes! Wow, this place was quite a find. Staff was seriously attentive & very kind. The food was absolutely phenomenal with larger than expected portions. We ordered a hummus & Tzatziki with bread. We couldn't finish it all because the portions were so large. We also ordered the Greek Salad which included Tomatoes, large chunks of creamy goat cheese, & olives. Aww came here yesterday, and they've opened up an outdoor take out bar! It's very cute. Handwritten signs on cardboard signs for 8 pound cocktails served out in plastic cups, such as mojitos and grapefruit gins and spritzes. The spritz I got tasted sweet and nice and it was so exciting to finally (first time in 3 months!) be sort of out in a bar again :) Everyone drank outside in social distant groups, but it was a sunny beautiful day and still had a really nice ambience. read more

Had a bit of a Fawlty Towers experience here. On the plus side, the menu is inventive, decor is tasteful and quirky (marshmallows on ceiling twigs) and the food is truly beautifully presented. The negatives were that the staff seemed fairly unbothered about our comfort. We were rushed out, even though our booking had been for 2 hours and they started changing tablecloths before we'd even asked for the bill. Some of the food tasted 'interesting' - no one enjoyed the mastic brioche but the jams in the breadbasket were lovely. (The £6 milkshake I got was nice, but rather underwhelming in size - around a 150ml mini-glass...) On the whole I think our gang had a nice time, as we giggled our way through the silliness, but I wouldn't return I'm afraid. read more

This review is based on a weekday BREAKFAST experience: I arrived here early in the morning and was welcomed to delicious pastries on the counter. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful in its simplicity. The service was great and while the breakfast menu was not delicious the food was delicious. I was here with another person and so we decided to share three dishes. We got the scrambled eggs, which came on a sourdough bread with tomatoes and feta cheese; very tasty and delicious! We also had the Tsourki buns. This was definitely very interesting! It's Mahlepi flavored brioche (reminded me of the taste of mastic) served in a bowl served with two spreads, the house made sour cherry jam 'spoon sweet', and a praline spread. We also had the walnut cake which is soaked in a honey syrup. Despite the description, the two dishes were not overwhelming or heavy; they were excellent. "Excuse me Ms. do you have a reservation"? So I came here after a recommendation from a friend. Ok I didn't have the best of starts at this restaurant, after booking online and receiving a confirmation email of the table for 2. As soon as i was seated by the hostess who greeted me at the entrance and checked the reservation list. She then proceeded to ask me again after I had been seated for 10min and had ordered my drink that if i had a reservation.....at which point i said to her "is there a problem" sensing that she had irritated me she moved away. Hence why I had to deduct the 2 stars. Now the food i cannot rave enough about it we took the following- Taramasalta- smooth and tangy, Tzatziki- refreshing and light this was all swiped up with warm rosemary pitta bread. Spanikopita which is a delicious pastry filled with spinach and feta (my fav), Chicken drumstick on a bed of smooth mash potato side of thinly cut round potato chips smothered in feta and tomato sauce. Every dish was amazing in taste and presentation, yes the portions are small but then again this is tapas style. The only thing i would improve is the service from the staff. read more

Oh man, this place was delicious! If you are in the mood for lots of flavours or tapas I would highly recommend this place. It was a Friday night and the place was busy, but we were seated inside, in the back. The service was excellent, the waiter walked us through what things were and gave us recommendations. I have to say that their spin on tomato, cucumber, and feta salad was AMAZING. I usually only eat it to get my veggies, but I felt like I wanted to inhale it all! We also had a warm cheese round (can't remember what it was called) which was delicious and some sliders. YUMMY! We are only living in this area for a bit, but I will make the trek over here for Opso. As someone said below, a great spot for drinks at the bar, or a wonderful romantic dinner. I went there with a friend after seeing a photo of the black bun fish burger on Time Out. I'm not a meat eater so anything with fish and exotic looking buns has my attention! I was expecting a full size burger but as we were sharing, the surprise of 2 smaller burgers was very welcome! I hadn't realised this was a sharing concept before I got there... We also had the snails which were absolutely delicious! All the staff was really welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable, they paired our wine to our food AND our personal taste which was a nice and unusual custom touch. I was pleasantly impressed by the decoration which was quite cool and modern. It was an early dinner so we could choose to sit by the window which was also quite nice. This place has a cool-looking interior with a big communal table in the center, a bar in the front and small tables scattered around as well as a downstairs. The upstairs was buzzing on a Saturday eve and it invited us in. We ordered a really good bottle of Greek wine which was a nice touch. The service was pleasant and efficient although nothing to write home about. The food was good although nothing amazing.....the salad we ordered was just tomatoes and feta--something I make at home (and my version tastes better). The deep fried cheese was ordinary (and ours wasn't oozing like the one in my fellow Yelpers' pics of this restaurant). The snails, bacon and chips was an overwhelming mess of lardons. Opso, the Greek tapas place is how I describe it, rightly or wrongly. I like this place for a dinner among friends or a double date of sorts. Properly mature yet cool vibes with some great food. The vibe isn't necessarily that fun East or SW energy you can get, it's definitely more friendly and maybe posh? I haven't figured out exactly what the posh vibe is yet. Worst excuse for a "modern" Greek restaurant! The service and ambience are great - the food (and somehow even the wine) are just bland and terrible, with all the excitement of triple-boiled cabbage. Greek food is meant to be flavorful - but its like someone took a vacuum device and sucked out every molecule of flavor from the food we ordered. Halfway through the meal, I wondered if I was coming down with a special flu which might be numbing my tastebuds. But my dinner companion (who is Greek) confirmed that even her salmon did not taste like salmon. It tasted like discount grocer generic whitefish. I live in Marylebone, and have sampled every restaurant here (and love Greek food in general). This is by far the worst restaurant in the neighborhood (worse than the usual black spot chain abortions such as Strada, Pizza Express, Giraffe etc.). You will be better off crossing the street and ordering the sharing platter for two at The Real Greek - it is a third of the price with 1500% more flavor and 2000% more authenticity. I kid you not! DO NOT EAT HERE. It looks the goods but don't be fooled. The food was decent but far from the bear Greek I've had. The service however, completely eroded any positive thoughts I had about the meal. You know those restaurants where you need to work really hard to get the waiters attention? This is one of those. At no point were we asked if we'd like to order anything or if the meal was ok. Which became an issue when our meals arrived before the wine (our second choice as they were out of our first) that we ordered at the same time. Our sides didn't come until we were nearly finished out mains, so we went them back. It's a nice looking place and they do seem to be trying hard, but the service really missed the mark. read more
