Great spot making authentic Greek food. Fresh and clean with super service in the garment area. Try anything here and it's so delicious. Even the drinks were superb. Don't mind the area, just come and eat here.

Hungry Donkey is one of my favorite spots in this area of London. When I come to visit the area for work this is now on my must-eat list. This is an authentic modern greek cafe. Their menu is all the best of Greece even down to the spirits and wine. The cafe is welcoming and cozy. Definitely make reservations online to book a table as the place gets quite busy. They do have some outside seating for the warmer months. The couple of times I have eaten here everything was cooked perfectly. The Lamb souvlaki plate is incredible as it gave me a bite of all my favorite things. The meat, fresh salad, and fries. When eating solo I found this to be the best deal. I would love to come here with friends and try all their shared plates. They have a lot of yummy looking mezze platters.

Really tasty and well presented Greek food in a modern casual setting. The starters were lovely... We really enjoyed the warm beetroot salad and also the cheese balls. Main was grilled lamb, chips and salad. For desert am orange cake with buffalo ice cream. Interesting Greek wines and beers also.

Not super impressed with it, but for a Greek food fix it will do the job. Probably better as a casual lunch spot or take away - it was pretty dead for our Thursday evening visit. Starters ordered included the feta chips, aubergine dip and spanikopita. All were happy with these. The entire table ended up with pita wraps. I was fairly disappointed with my chicken version. Flavor was just sort of blah - not bad, but not ... anything really. (Compared to those feta chips, which were seasoned phenomenally and are worth going just for them.) I was particularly disappointed in the scrimping of tzatziki in the wrap, and the tzatziki itself. It was super thick and somewhat greasy in texture (like a thick mayo) and again very bland and hardly any of it in the wrap. Bummer city. Ditto on the chicken, zilch flavor which is surprising given the seasonings used and it being cooked on the spit. Weird. Desserts were a disappointment all around as well. Someone ordered the manourri cheesecake - no description given on the menu, but you know, cheesecake is cheesecake right? Well we found out what manourri was the hard way - it's basically a creamier feta, and it tastes like it. Why you make a cheesecake with such a salty cheese I have not idea. Now, this may (I imagine must) be a traditional/popular/very authentic Greek dessert but dear god we had no clue and it would have been nice if the server had mentioned that, other than appearance, it is not like any other kind of cheesecake you've ever had. It cost £6 and was totally untouched other than 1 small taste per person at the table to confirm it was truly awful. All that said, the service otherwise was really, really great. Nice, friendly, quick and helpful.

You'll have to get a reservation in advance but do everything you can to come to this restaurant!!…read moreEverything we ate was so fresh and had such bold flavors. The assortment of salads and vegetables to choose from made for a light, energizing meal (until we got to dessert) and I can't recommend this restaurant enough!! It's not overly fancy and the focus is on the food. You walk in to what feels like a little market with salads and baked goods on display that you're able to order from the table. The menu always changes but honestly anything he makes is delicious so just try to taste as many things as possible!

I'd wanted to check out an Ottolenghi while we were in town anyway, and it seemed like a great place to get pastries for my husband and kids and something more interesting for me. We walked over from our hotel at around 12:30 on a Saturday, with the goal of getting back to the lobby by 1:00. Ottolenghi was nearby, tucked into a cute, very British sort of alley. Thankfully, the place was quiet, and we were able to sit and eat a fast lunch. The set-up was a little bit confusing, with a take-out operation in front and a larger cafe area with table service. The cafe seats were maybe not available for take-out customers, but I was able to talk to the host and get a table for a short dine-in situation, with food selected from the take-out section. The boys got croissants, but I wanted some of the lovely savory pastries and deli salads on display. Weirdly, I wasn't allowed to get the first thing I asked for, a tartine with sugar snap peas that was take-out only for some reason I cannot imagine. But I did get a brioche laden with courgette, pitsachio, and mint, as well as a summer deli plate with my choice of three salads. I went with the green beans with roasted pineapple and jalapeño dressing, the roasted carrots with pistachio, lemon, charmoula, and ricotta, and the roasted lemon and sweetcorn tabbouleh. Everything was fresh and tasty, and we were able to eat and leave in like twenty minutes flat. Service was fine, despite the arbitrary withholding of sugar snap peas. Ottolenghi is a London icon well known in America, and while I don't think it's as exciting as, say, Dishoom or St. John, it's also an easy, casual place with multiple locations, where you might get some good food on the go.

As the name implies, it's a Greek joint with the Souvlaki or the meat skewers as the main attraction. It's a small joint with tasteful interiors. Simple menu and looked quite refreshing. You order at the till and you are given a receipt with a number. You collect the food when your number is called. Most of the people take away the food but I ate in. There is no difference in packaging if you eat in or not I fact they didn't even ask me if I wished to takeaway. There are only 4-6 seats (stools) mostly occupied by customers waiting for their food. The ordering process was ok but I didn't really find any of the staff friendly. The food came quickly but the portion sizes were not great. Having said that the prices are bit on the lower side for the location. I ordered a chicken wrap and a Halloumi side. The Chicken wrap cost £4.90 and a meal is £5.90. Meal gets you a drink and a chips or salad side. The Halloumi side was £2.20. The food itself was not very exciting, there were only 2-3 tiny pieces of chicken with hardly any seasoning, the pita was tiny and the Tzatziki, which ideally should have been the star of the show, was like the ones we get over the counter. What I missed most was heat factor, a bit more pepper might have done the trick. The Halloumi was very tasty but it would have been worth the £2.20 if some salad was thrown in. Over-all disappointed with the fare but gets extra star for the tasteful branding and premises.

But the food wasn't a disappointment. I went for the chicken souvlaki. Much like a fancy chicken shish kebab in a lovely thick warm wrap, with fresh salad and tzatziki. Not quite as good as gyros I've had but not bad at all. I'll try the lamb next. The regular size is pretty filling, and I saw another diner with the 'mega' souvlaki which certainly was big! For the price and the area this is a pretty good warm lunch option. There is minimal seating, and it's a little annoying that it's mostly taken up by people waiting for their food, leaving people wanting to eat in standing. Not the restaurants fault. Staff weren't particularly friendly, but not rude or anything, just got on with their jobs.
