Yay! I am so glad this new place opened, only a week ago. When I heard of this new place I got excited immediately Because this a vegan brewpub! Yes! Beer and food! And it is all vegan! I have never heard of such a place before, and I guess there might not be a lot in the world. We are lucky to have it within 30-minutes driving distance. I decided not to go there on the opening weekend, because it might be busy or they might have some start-up issues. That was a wise choice: my friend told me the place was completely overcrowded the first weekend. That made me happy because it is great that people are interested in this new concept. The next weekend we went. The place is located outside the city center, in a big industrial space. It is huge because the brewing proces and the pub are both located in the same big space, which is fun because if you come early, like we did, you can see the guys brew the beers. I loved it all. The beers were good (only had a few sips though because I needed to drive), the space was cool, the people were super friendly, the prices were decent and the food....was AWESOME! Very, very tasty and nice dishes. The burger was very good, and the potatoes that came with it were also awesome. The bite I tried from the tempeh skewers were also very good. The dessert was just okay, and a bit expensive, though this did not even matter to me so much anymore because everything else was just so nice. I will definitely be back! read more

Great place! We actually went grocery shopping at Sligro.. I don't know if you are aware, but many times they place lovely try outs around in the store.. so we sampled some stuff and then I became quite hungry for more (ok I'm pregnant as well..) so I wanted to go somewhere to eat. My hubby said fish. I thought chips. So fish and chips it was. But where? I looked at google maps and found a Brewery nearby. Nothing screams fish and chips like a brewery combined with a restaurant right? Wrong. But in a lovely surprising way. Because Oproer doesn't like the old adagio that "beer and meat" are basically each others twins, like salt 'n pepper, They'd like to change that into beer and vegan meals. Quite cool! Next to beers, they have a big variety in biological fruit drinks. I ordered a lemon/ginger lemonade and it was great. My love tried their beer and loved it. Many IPA's on the menu by the way. It's a cool place in an old industrial hall. Very rock'n'roll & vegan. We had a great appetizer, warm fresh bread with a beet dip. We read that the bread was actually made from the left overs from the brewing process. Neat! Our main was the Burgerine: a aduki bean burger topped with aubergine and a vegan mayonaise, with garlic broiled taters on the side and some salad. It was really good, loved the flavors! The waitress tried to interest us in their new desert: tiramisu with cashew instead of mascarpone and tofu! Unfortunately, it had just a wee bit of alcohol in it and I didn't dare to do that to our baby. So. We must be back. And we will. Because this is a great place and it reminds us of our "youth" hanging around in rock bars. Just the thing we like! read more

Can't believe that all these months later I still haven't reviewed Oproer on Yelp, we were here in January! For shame! I've even had a review up on my blog for that long haha. Anyway, let me start by saying that this place is great for vegetarians, omnivores, vegans and even children. All of which were part of our merry group when Kim V, John G, Sebastiaan T, our son and I came to Oproer for lunch and of course drinks. While the other adults enjoyed some beers, I was still nursing at the time, I enjoyed their delicious apple juice and apricot almond fizzy drink which I had to order after trying Kim's. Those Wostok lemonades are just so refreshing and delicious with really interesting flavour combinations. As for the food: loved everything! So sad we didn't manage to get back for another Seitan wrap before they changed the menu. *cries for days* ... ... ... Okay, I'm back. Seriously though, if they have something on the menu that you loved and MUST have again, go back immediately. Don't wait like I did and end up feeling like crap because you want what you can't have. Aside from the highly addictive Seitan wrap, the burger and Tempeh sateh skewers were also completely delicious! The only letdown was the extremely underwhelming apple crumble with vanilla sauce and berry compote. Really lacked flavour that one. So why five stars? Because ambience, delicious drinks, outstanding savoury foods, super friendly staff, cute kid's corner and of course high chairs. Oh! And fleece blankets! Who doesn't love a good blanket in a sometimes chilly old factory building? So, looking for great food? Vegan, vegetarian or omnivore? Hungry? Just want to relax and give the kids a great time in the process? Stop what you're doing, don't hesitate, just go to Oproer! It's great! read more

We were looking for a restaurant on the edge of Utrecht. We were not specifically looking for vegan nor beer, but this place came up with good reviews, enough to give it a try. In short good food with a wide de selection of craft beers. Even though the food options appear limited the menu is definitely worth trying out and we enjoyed it very much. The place is situated in an industrial area with similar appearances but once we found the entrance we were convinced to go in and eat. Again their beer list is amazing and living up to expectations. read more
