Double burger helped this place out but it wasn't a home run. Fries were just ok. I wouldn't eat here again but may have a beer here for the people watching. Oh well.

I gave the scotch away though. Too peaty for me. All in all a very cool place to hang out. If I had longer time in the city, I would've returned for sure.

Troost has gone full vegetarian on their burgers and this was the first time in my life I tasted that vegetarian burger replacements have a future. Texture and flavours were spot on. Wouldn't mind coming back for the burgers and will accept that the beers are not as I would like them.

There were a good variety on tap, except for one time they were literally out of everything but we found something else that we liked. I tried the IPA and the Honey beer and both were very crisp and fresh. They had a menu with little bites but we didn't try any. It's a nice spot to stop for a beer after a long day of walking and sightseeing, and I could see this as a nice spot to meet with friends after work if you're from the area.

I was expecting it to be a little spicer than it was--so I added some of their hot sauce which is excellent. The one thing I didn't like about the sandwich is they use American cheese. There are SO many amazing cheeses out there--I'll never understand why any restaurant--aside from fast food ones--use American cheese. It would be a lot better with real cheese. Their fries were good, and their bartender Sean is attentive and makes good conversation. I'll come back, but I'd order something else next time

Watch out, though, to not get lost in the true Bermuda Triangle of Amsterdam - the distillery, the tasting room, and liquor shop. The distillery itself is not generally open to the public, but the true aficionados can make an inquiry for a special tour (only on Fridays at 4pm). But do not despair, the jenever is always there at their Proeflokaal (tasting room).
