For eight years I've been taking my pets to this clinic I've paid upfront they've never had a problem I've never took it taken any type of credit out but tonight I asked them for a little help to wait $95 to see a sick puppy but I want to see well and the doctors said no and the owners said no and the receptionist Laurie Laura I don't even know her name Laurie or Laurie whatever her name is was very cold and mean and not feeling anything I don't understand how people things to save other creatures but they can choose because if you have $95 that's acceptable but if you don't have the moment it's a week I said I would pay the middle week it's not a loan it's not a payment plan like Laurie tried to argue that it was it was it was just I've been with you for eight years. I will be loyal, just help me save this puppy. It is puppy, but they turned us away and so much higher with my themselves for a week and they walked them and paid them in all the fun stuff but they don't want to collect coin from us. That's good you put your faith in your humanity on the line for these people that really just wanna play with your animals or your life like who does that change to step up and take action? Guess what I can take pride of myself that I take action for my students because I'm a teacher and believe if you're kid is in my car or somebody's trying tosomething or another that you're not happy with it your child is not happy with. I will be there and I will push through no matter what that's what she is taking care of people that you got into profession for thanks docs you guys are fantastic puppy thank. I used their extension clinic in Thurmont for my cats annual exams/shots last year and was very pleased with Dr. Stasty, but they can't keep animals overnight there, so when I recently had to board 2 cats with 'special circumstances', and this place was recommended to me, it seemed like the best option (I used to have a great pet sitter but this place prohibits their employees from that, or even recommending anyone, because they admitted it would cut down on their profits!), but it was a very unpleasant experience. I have a medical background myself (retired cardiac/critical care nurse) and left very explicit instructions, most of which were ignored, including which vet I wanted to examine them (same as last year) and what procedures I wanted done (which had been done last year w/o any issues.) I also told them I wouldn't be reachable if they had any questions (was in the hospital), and gave my cat rescue (knowledgeable) friend's contact information (who was with me and witnessed this whole process), but of course they never did. FYI, BTW, they feed all their borders a canned kidney diet, which is low protein and not always palatable or even suitable for diabetic cats (who need portion-controlled low-carb food); you can bring your own, but if they run out they don't go to the store to get more, which I was told they would (and would've been happy to reimburse them for.) Both cats have digestive issues and have gotten sick before from having their diet changed while boarding, but fortunately no problems when I got them home this time. I also don't care much for their location at the intersection of 2 very busy roads (and I saw them let one cat leave w/o a collar, leash, or carrier so if they had squirmed out of their Mom's arms, it would have been curtains- most places will lend you something you can return later), and getting in and out through the neighboring busy (new FMH cancer /office building) parking lot is like a maze and an accident waiting to happen, go VERY slow. Suffice it to say, I was so upset when I went to pick them up 3 days and $750 later (which wouldn't have been out of the question if they had received the proper care) I burst into tears in the waiting room. The vet who examined them, who I really disliked, had the nerve to say to me she didn't do 1 test I requested because she wasn't familiar with it and after looking it up didn't understand why I wanted it done (it is used to monitor heart failure), and didn't do another (for diabetes control) I requested because the receptionist had told her the wrong test. This was all almost a month ago and I am still beyond pissed off at the terrible service (I had to wait to leave this review until I calmed down), although I will probably continue to use the Thurmont office as long as Dr. Stasty is there (they rotate shifts), as the choices in this area are very limited and I also had a bad experience at another local vet, but I won't put them through a similar experience at this location again. One of my sweet boys was so happy to see me when I put him in the car that he danced around in circles in his carrier like a puppy! read more

Asked if they had a X-ray machine because my dog ate some disposable razors and wanted to have him checked out. They were rude and said if they haven't seen the dog before they can't do anything. read more

This vet clinic has been great and we have been going here since 2015. We have had three dogs that have been treated here for yearly checkups, shots and other issues. The Drs and staff have been very friendly and accommodating for every situation that has come up. I even saw the staff care for a squirrel that a customer brought in that was injured in his yard. They are very caring and love all the animals. It is so refreshing to know that they want your loved ones to be healthily and safe as much as you do. read more

We took our cat in for a checkup and to have a look at a little growth. The vet was really sweet and the wait was short. The thing that most impressed me though, was that the vet was very careful to take into consideration what it would mean for our cat to have this lump (on her face) removed since it wasn't bothering her (just us). It is always great to find a vet who will put your animal's needs and best interest ahead of money. They probably could have told us that the thing needed a biopsy and removal for $10k and we would have done it, and I'm sure they know it. So I greatly appreciated the care and honesty of this vet. I will definitely be taking my little lady there for her next check up as well. read more

Hands down the best vet clinic in Frederick. Prices are very reasonable, cheaper than many places. And the staff is just amazing. I am always so pleased to visit. Dr. Stastny is amazing! Before we moved I would bring my birds in for wing clipping and routine check-ups. She is so good with the birds! My conure loves making friends with the receptionists and they are always friendly and helpful. Any complaint of cost is far outweighed by the invaluable trustworthiness of this office. When we move back to Maryland I would not take my feathered friends anywhere else! read more

I can't say enough good things about the entire staff. We've been clients since moving to the area in 2015 for our 11+ year old Shepard/Lab. We've lived in 4 states and had several larger breed dogs over 39 years. Although the care our pets received was very good in our previous locations, the care provided by OPVC has been the very best. For example, our dog recently showed signs of lethargy and swelling in her mid-section. Xrays showed a mass on her spleen and the possibility cancer had spread. Dr. Schaden performed surgery the NEXT DAY and removed her spleen. She is recovering and the outlook is promising. Dr. Stastny and Dr. Yeo have fielded our follow up questions with first hand knowledge of the situation. The staff is also very knowledgeable and compassionate. That depth gives extra comfort. On top of all this the prices are very reasonable! Best service and reasonable prices = can't beat that. read more

My aged cat was having trouble breathing. I told the receptionist I would like to bring her in. She said there were no appointments available. I told her this was a emergency. She told me that they only accept emergencies from current patients. I had been a customer of Oppussum Town from 1980. They had my file as inactive since 2010 and my remaining cat hadn't been there apparently from 2008. I was inactive without any knowledge on my part and was never "warned" that I was about to become so. In any event the receptionist was rude and unhelpful. I guess I should have gone up the ladder but became angry and frustrated and hung up. I had been a long term customer and had gotten nothing but good service in the past. read more

I have been using them for years. Our first dog passed away and they were very compassionate. They usually have same day appointments and the front office staff is lovely. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Great staff and doctors! read more

My family has been taking our pets here for years. I've seen both Dr. Stastny and Dr. Yau with my nine year old cat, and our eight year old dog has seen Dr. Schaden a few times. I've heard it's expensive compared to other vets, but luckily (**knock on wood!**) we haven't had to go too often. The doctors have always been SUPER nice and willing to answer all of my questions. read more

I cannot say enough about The clinic and dr. Yau in particular. I brought my elderly rat in for an evaluation about her very large tumors. I left in tears but made the decision to have the surgery done. I am so impressed with how skillfully Dr Yau excised the excess skin and made my little rat Isaboe back to normal. I was impressed that they were concerned about after surgery pain medication; some vets aren't too concerned about that especially with small animals, which is horrifying. Isaboe is back to her normal self, doesn't have to struggle with dragging her tumors around, and really I can hardly believe it. I have also brought injured wildlife to this clinic on several occasions.I am so very grateful to have a vet clinic like this so nearby. read more

All four of our cats go here and they helped with our one cat who unfortunately passed away. The staff is always professional and gentle with our animals even when they are fidgeting and nervous. I can't imagine taking our pets anywhere else. Their emergency service is also great and gives us piece of mind. read more
