It is a no kill shelter and very clean. and I am glad I went over there because I found my baby. However, there is no customer service and the staff, atleast the one who helped me, have no knowledge about cats. I went there to adopt a kitten as none of the shelters around me had kittens under 6 months. It was almost an hour drive but totally worth it as I found what I was looking for. I was helped by Kathy who was nice and took her time to show me around but it seemed that she was pushing me towards adopting an older cat and kept saying that a kitten is not a good choice for me as this is my first cat. But I told her I only want a kitten and she showed me some kittens. The one I picked was with his sister and I was debating whether I should get both because I didnt want to seperate them. I decided to get just the brother for now and see how it goes.
Later, Peggy, the manager, asked Sam to be my counselor and we came in a seperate room for paperwork. Sam literally had no idea what was going on. She gave me wrong info about feeding, she didnt know the adoption fee, she ignored the questions I asked. I felt mistreated as she acted like she has no interest in helping me. She would blankly stare at me if I ask her anything. She gave me so much wrong info about return policy, feeding, timings...My kitten wasnt neutered so I had to come back to pick him after his surgery. She told me that she will call me when its done. I asked her again when and what time should I come and she assured me she will call me when hes ready.
When I got home and talked to family, we decided to get the sister as well. I called the shelter the very next day to speak with the manager about adopting the sister. But its impossible to get to any one. I believe I called 7-8 times in 2 days to speak with someone at the shelter about this but the front desk person always told me that she has no idea about this and someone will call me back. NO ONE ever called me. I wanted them to use my credit card info, which they already had used, so they can put her on hold for me and I will come pick up both kittens together as its almost an hour drive. Anyways, after leaving countless messages, no one called me and the third day, I saw she was adopted. I was very pissed. This is really no way to treat your customer who was just there a day ago. HORRIBLE SERVICE.
On top of that, Sam never called me. On the third day, I called and told them I am very upset about this and after a while, spoke to someone who told me he was ready to be picked up THE VERY NEXT DAY. So for 2 days, I have been calling them asking about him and his sister, and no one called, no one knew, no one told me anything. Sam seemed like a volunteer but seriously, if you dont know what you are doing, you shouldnt be at that place.
When I went back there to pick him, Ali helped me and was extremely nice and answered all my questions. The vet tech also was very informative and nice and helped me. I am glad that I went there because I found my baby but probably will not go back there again. read more
