I reached out to many different rescue groups, and DASH was by far the most responsive of them all. DASH did an amazing job helping my family rehome our Aussie boy to a great family. In particular, Sara did a fantastic job making the process comfortable and safe for us and the dog, and she vetted applications to find an awesome new family for our boy. She's a wonderful person who does everything she can to help. Right after the adoption happened, she's he made sure that we got to see pictures and updates of our boy with his new family. Most importantly, she really listened to us and helped us navigate through the really difficult emotions and transition, which helped us greatly. Calling this business a rescue is very deceitful. It is not registered as a rescue, and does not function as one. Yes, they occasionally work with dogs in difficult situations, but they very rarely offer solutions beyond posting them on their page and collecting a fee both to list them, and collecting an adoption fee from the adopter. Money which, by the way, goes directly to the director's pocket- including any donations. A small portion goes toward veterinary care for the dogs and such, but most of it is just for personal profit. By going here, you are paying breeder prices for someone without that level of credential or care. The director and other people helping with DASH often don't even meet some of the pets or know much about them, but will chat with you about their traits as if they have been living with them for ages. It is an adoption matching service at best, with most animals listed living with and being cared for by the previous owners until a match is found, at a cost to the pet's owner. This money is not returned to an owner, even if an adopter is not found and the animal has to be surrendered to the shelter. This isn't to say that screening applicants and posting photos to her corner of social media reach isn't a valuable service for some. If that's all you want, and you're willing to pay, she may be a good fit for you to rehome your dog. However, ultimately, there are many legitimate rescues that service similar breed groupings within a reasonable radius- who may deserve your donations and adoption payments quite a bit more, and do a lot more to truly service and care for at risk animals at varying levels of "adoptability." *Edit to add side note: it is worth reading some of the other low reviews. Yes, people can dramatize things, there can be isolated incidents, etc, but you will likely notice repeated incidents of dog negligence, owner/adopter manipulation, and general bad outcomes with a total lack of accountability. This is a pattern, not outlier events. I am convinced that most of the good reviews were just lucky to be matched with wonderful dogs. For me, I wasn't given the because I am a foster parent and my dog had a tendency to get overwhelmed by the frequent visits of social services and kids with specialized behaviors. I was searching for a solution for almost a year and a friend recommended this organization. They were quick to respond and happy to help. They understood my circumstances and helped find a perfect home for my dog. They even has him for several weeks while they looked for the home so that he could be in a safe environment away from his triggers. I'm giving them three stars because they were the only rescue that reached out to me. I had originally given them five because they were the only ones who were willing to help me with my dog who needed to be saved. I knew from the start that part of the money they raise they pocketed. I didn't really care cuz I wanted my dog to be saved. They made sure he got the CAT scans and x-rays done that he needed. When we picked my dog up, he had significant hair loss and a rash and I have video evidence of this. This is before even putting him in our vehicle or driving home. I had mentioned about the rash and she was saying maybe it was from the shampoo she used. Now I did tell her when I dropped him off I didn't want them giving him a bath because he's so sensitive and has a lot of allergies and she knew that. I told her that if she needed to give him a bath and message me and I'll take a picture of the type of shampoo he can use. I told her that he was allergic to most shampoos that are hypoallergenic. I guess me not saying don't use oatmeal shampoo is why she ended up using oatmeal shampoo on him and he's highly allergic. Never message me or asked. I guess maybe she forgot and that's fine. And then she had told me she would send me home with a bag of dog food he was using. When I had dropped him off he had a prescription dog food and a giant plastic bin that was very expensive. She wasn't feeding to him and she said first that the lady that helped take care of the dogs didn't know but when I was there that lady was there and she had told that lady that he had to have a special dog food so that's not true. Later she told me that he just wouldn't eat it and that's why they wouldn't feed it to him. But there was another lady who was taking care of him before that for them and she said he was eating it just fine. So they're a feet in my dog who has food sensitivities and strong allergies food that he's not supposed to have. I had told them I was going to work on getting them back on a limited ingredient dog food with my vet and she said she would talk to her vet about what he thinks so when she told me she was feeding him a different dog food I thought that's what she had done. She first told me when we were going to pick up a dog that she would send me with dog food but because she lost the dog food and the dog bin that she would actually send $100. She never sent the money instead sent him with kibble and bits. That is not something a hypoallergenic sensitive dog should have. So my dog had giant lumps of fur coming out which I have video evidence for. When I tried to talk to her about it she said it must be something at our place not hers cuz he was perfectly healthy when they dropped him off. That's not true. Also when I try to get information from the vet because I found out there was stuff he didn't know and could have caused a misdiagnosis. This is something my personal that was concerned about too because I contracted her as soon as we got home to get him into vet Anyways Sarah Shepherd call me up mad and of course always brings up crying and tears about stuff and forgetting that she had told me that the restaurant way to get your way with people is to start crying historically. Anyways I got a hold of the vet anyways and I actually blocked her number cuz I found out she had been arrested for attacking someone and trying to steal their dog. It was a lady who worked for them. She had gone to jail I am told which ended up landing her in the hospital. I blocked her cuz I don't know what kind of crazy stuff this lady will pull. Anyways I got a hold of that and he said yeah this is stuff he did not know and was glad I told him. He said he was going to give me a rundown of everything they think is going on with my dog and they were going to leave me more with more questions and answers. My dog still has a mass on his head that cannot be drained. Specifically on his brain. The rescue told me there was nothing on his brain but I was just told there was by both the vet in Texas and his home vet. This mess will not drain and is not full of fluids. Yes there is still a risk that my dog has cancer after everything we went through. I did not share any of the drama I went through with the vet with because that's not his business. I just want to update my dog's files. Now I know that Sarah Shepherd's going to be angry cuz she told me don't ever message or try to call her vet but in the very beginning she had me making the appointments and calling them. Makes me feel like she has stuff to hide. Sick up saying over and over she gave me back a perfectly healthy dog but that's not true he still has a mass that may be cancerous on his brain. And he was losing all his fur and has a yeast and bacterial infection. I am grateful that she was able to get him the CAT scan and MRI that he needed though. Which is why I gave the three stars. Honestly; I just had horrible experiences all around from DASH. The people were nice enough, but it was just a horrible experience. We were interested in a pup that we'd read about and did our research on and we agreed to go meet with him and the foster. The foster had a good 5-6 dogs in crates, and had let him and another dog out, claiming this dog was 'bonded' to him. It was a husky mix female. It got to the point where the foster was REALLY pushing this second dog on us. Like. SUPER pushy and insistent. So my husband and I caved and adopted both dogs together. They had no idea what names these dogs were being called, and their vet records were all over the place. They told us the animals had been cat tested and dog tested, which was very clearly not the case. The female was IMMEDIATELY cat aggressive, and it was incredibly hard to separate her from them. I contacted them right away, and they told us it would take a week or so to arrange transport. It wasn't until the female killed our cat that I had to demand they meet me sooner. They did, BUT they essentially pushed us into 'trading' dogs. They pushed us into adopted a second dog that was supposedly a 3 year old mini aussie mix and forced us to take him. We didn't really want him, we had asked for a refund and that was what had happened. Well, the first dog we got from them wanted nothing to do with him(he was also very obviously a puppy, and he was also very obviously full of worms). SO we returned him and got a refund. We kept the first guy for a while, and I ended up getting into a wreck and struggling for a few months after. I ended up returning the dog we got to them, but the experience with the first dog was enough to completely scare me away from dealing with these people ever again. read more

Due to the adoption contract this group requires you to sign upon claiming your dog, I will avoid "libel, defamation, & slander" as everything I tell you is the God's honest truth. Before I start, let me tell you that Sara does not use the "donation" adoption fee on the dogs as she leads you to believe. So when you go into this system looking to rescue a dog, note that you will literally be rescuing a dog from this "rescue group". There is no facility to regulate how the dogs are treated & cared for, & honestly Animal Control needs to intervene. Dogs are thrust together in Sara's home, if not in a foster, & spread their illnesses to each other like a conflagration. IF YOU PLAN ON RESCUING A DOG, KNOW THAT YOUR MONEY WILL BE WASTED, COMMUNICATION WILL BE NONEXISTENT, & YOUR ADOPTION OF THE DOG WILL BE SAVING ITS LIFE FROM THIS GROUP. I found Hannah (who is now named Sam & will henceforth be referenced as Sam) on PetFinder when I was looking for a rescue to surprise my fiance with as an Anniversary/Christmas gift. I reach out to the facebook group & fill out the application. (The primary issue I had was the incessant guilt tripping into adopting more dogs even after the thorough "no" I gave Sara.) I schedule to meet Sam that very day after being told several applications came in for her adoption. It was fine until communication seemed to halt & any update I requested was a roundabout delay. When I arrive at the residence several hours after Sara said I should look for updates to come over, the smell of urine & unwashed canine overwhelmed me. *IMPORTANT NOTE: Dog's noses DO NOT acclimate the way human noses do. Dog's smell stench infinitely until the odor is wiped out completely, & with a heightened sense. Smell alone, strong & wicked awful, is cruel. So the smell is awful & I know these dogs are not in a good place. I meet Sara the "executive director" of the rescue group & am immediately informed of every personal thing she has gone through, how people treat her & her "organization" etc. Very unprofessional, but again I don't care, I'm there to rescue a puppy. Sam, was a very friendly & loving little girl who appeared to be a quiet baby. She was EMACIATED. Sara tells me Sam hasn't eaten much since they got her. Being a previous Animal Control Officer, I know exactly how to fix this. Which is why it concerned me they had not attempted to fix this "appetite" issue. Especially being a RESCUE GROUP. Sara's partner, Rachel retrieves Sam's only vet paperwork, they rifle through a stack of papers, holding a sharpie. When I am offered the paperwork, every bit of identifying information is scratched out, redacted, & other information is written in. (I took Sam to an actual vet yesterday, they confirmed the paperwork was a scam, all information was not for Sam. I was given another dog's vet records.) I make arrangements to physically claim her the next morning so that my fiance is with me. The next day, we are there to get in & get out as fast as possible. We ignore that Sara is trying to convince us to change our schedule to accommodate her own over-scheduling of people claiming their rescues along with the smell & the chaos of barking going on. We grab Sam & fill out the one document of terms for adoption. That is when we find out her entire litter has contracted a messy cough. (The vet yesterday told us it was an upper respiratory infection.) Sara kept trying to convince us to allow Rachel to take her entire litter to the vet together. My gut said HELL NO. I didn't have a good feeling about allowing Sam to linger in that house any longer. So we decline & get her TF out of there. Before we leave, we are witness to the litter of dogs in the bathtub. Sara drags the mother of the litter & another female dog into the bathroom over & over by their collars. Literally dragging them into the bathtub. The mother BOLTS, & I get it because we found out where the smell was coming from. We leave immediately. We basically rescued Sam FROM THE "RESCUE GROUP". We saved her life and I'll tell you how. We're told she is shy & doesn't eat. I fill a bowl with food & she devours it in seconds. Hmmm. Doesn't eat? No. This pup eats. She just wasn't FED. I've helped her gain weight in the past two days that this "rescue" couldn't accomplish in two weeks. We're told she thrives among other dogs. Both times we visited, she was obviously timid. Being at our home for a few hours, she was barking at toys & flourished by herself. That evening, I am freaking because Sam is miserable with her illness. I arrange for Rachel to pick her up, take her to the vet, & return within a few hours. SEVERAL HOURS (7) go by & Sara blocks me after shutting me out about updates, Rachel neglects to respond after several requests for communication. When I do get Sam back, the ppwk provided shows they DECLINED prescribed medications. This place is a $h!t show. Know that going in or you will suffer through the process. read more

We adopted from Dash two years ago and wanted everyone to know that it was a great experience. Our Ranger is by far one of the best dogs we have had. He came in a puppy with the markings of a heeler, but as he grew we think part hound or bird dog. For anyone with a little experience in rescue or adoption there is no real way to know the full growth of a pup. I would not trade this dog for anything. I adopted this sweet boy from Dash Dog about three weeks ago! He is amazing and I couldn't be more happy! The process was easy and the Dash Dog Staff were awesome. Tex had not been socialized too much and was quite shy. Norma, his foster mom, had worked with him in the two weeks that she had him, which made my experience with him wonderful!! Rescuing a dog should not be entered into lightly. When I began looking for a rescue I watched Dash because they took the time to match the dogs with a suitable owner. I was only interested in a deaf dog so I made sure they knew what I was looking for and that I was willing to wait for the right match. I finally got the call that there were two sisters available and I could take my pick. After meeting them both I realized I couldn't separate these two sweet girls so I adopted them both. Dash took care of the spade fees and brought them up to date on their shots. They are happy girls that have no idea that they are deaf and sight impaired. I also volunteer as a transport person when they need help picking dogs up and dropping them off to the foster parents. Still, after asking for our money back after rude replies and blaming, they proceeded to post up "our puppy" for adoption, while keeping our all of our money and ignoring a txt to reach an agreement with the money. All I am going to say is that my dog is not what the rescue group said she was. We had her DNA tested. Instead of her being an Australian Shepherd / Golden retriever mix, she is an Australian Cattle Dog/ Pitt Bull mix. She does have some lab and chow, but she is not what they reported her as being. I love love love my puppy so much that I adopted from here but he came over with severe diarrhea that no one had checked or treated from this facility. Within one day of having him, I had already gotten him checked and on medication for the hook worm he had....... he also came over with severe ear mites that also had to be treated. Now he is sick for the THIRD time and we take very good care of him. Our other dog we rescued from the SPCA at the same age and she has had none of these issues... yes every dog is different, but she cane over in perfectly good shape and health. I adopted from them and I can testify that my dog came in great health and almost three years later my pup is the greatest gift in my life. I personally know some of the caretakers and can also say these pups are well taken care of and are in need of a great home. As I read some of these reviews it hurts to read knowing that my pup came in great health. He had fleas, tapeworms, and heart worms. ALL preventible with proper care and clearly that was not done. They should be ashamed and they are not a rescue. I am looking into how to report her for claiming that this is a non profit when it is not. She claimed that my dog was negative for heartworm and it turned out that my dog is positive. I requested the payment for treatment which she declined. I asked for a refund of the $350 adoption fee and Sara at first agreed to refund that amount to me but then ignored my messaged and requests for over a week. She finally responded with claims of not being able to see and having no funds. I feel that I rescued my dog from her poor care. read more

My husband & I adopted two dogs, (a bonded pair) from DASH in October. We dealt with Sherri through the whole adoption process. We had missed out on adopting dogs from a couple of other rescues. By the time I had filled out the application & been approved the dogs had been adopted. Sherri had her phone number on each of the dogs' bios. While I typed away on the application my husband called Sherri to make sure the dogs were still available. She said that they were still with the rescue & that she would call us back after she reviewed our application. An hour or less later Sherri called & said our application looked great! By 3:00 PM we were at Sherri's home to meet the dogs. We spent about 2 hours with Sherri & the dogs. She answered all of our questions. We also did not feel rushed to make a decision. By 5:00 PM we were driving home with our 2 new "children." We HIGHLY recommend DASH Dog Rescue if you are looking for an Aussie/Herding breed.
