A day before he was to be euthanized, I get a call from Tracy with the shelter letting me know I can have him back and the $115 adoption fee would be waived. That was really kind! BUT when I picked him up, he had a broken tooth, he was malnourished with dry blood and cuts all over, really skittish and a completely different dog than when I dropped him off. They also didn't have any of his belongings. My dog was at this shelter for 2 months and I PAID to surrender him. I cried looking at the horrible shape my dog was in. I wish I would've known they didn't give a fuck about his well being. I cried for days after I got him back thinking of the horrible experience he had in "jail." It's unfair. I wouldn't take a stray to this shelter honestly, but I am considering sponsoring other pit bulls so this doesn't happen again. It's disgusting.

I was told she didn't need any extractions or special procedures and that they'd EMAIL me the estimate. Why am I being emailed an estimate after I'm gone? Shouldn't I be able to ask questions to the vet I just paid $81 to see? Well, they sent me numerous emails over the next couple days but no estimate. I had to call and ask for it twice. They sent it the day before the surgery. $860 for a "routine" dental. That is HUNDREDS more than other places charge. And why could I receive emails asking me to rate them, but not their ridiculous estimate that they felt I was just supposed to accept no questions asked the day before the procedure? I canceled. Went to my old vet 40 min away. Surprise! She DID need extractions, so I'm not sure what the point of that $81 consultation was. My vet said she had a hole in one of her teeth he could have put an instrument ALL THE WAY through it! How was that missed if they really looked at her? They charged me for nothing and then would have called me during the procedure that it would be more. After 2 extractions AND cleaning, it was still $325 CHEAPER than just their estimate for a "routine cleaning."

The day care is set up perfectly for the dogs. They have places to play inside and outside, dog beds, plenty of spots to sit by themselves too if they don't want to play that day (I have one who sometimes wants to sit on the couch by herself most of the day). The girls get groomed here on their regular days which is super convenient since it takes something off our list of things to do. Plus, I have one dog who is scared of the clippers, but she already trusts Ms. Deborah so she's doing better with grooming. We have done several boarding visits too. I love that the girls don't have to spend time in crates when we are away. Neither of my dogs does well in a crate. I know they are safe, well cared for, and being loved while we are away. I can't relax worrying about my dogs- so I really appreciate this. If you are looking for the newest, fanciest building in town for your dog to stay in. This isn't your place. If you're looking for the best care for day care, boarding, or grooming (and no crates) for your special little doggie, Rub My Belly is the right place!

Six months ago my regular exotic vet was not available so I looked up Ridglea West Animal Hospital website and read that Dr. Verwers treats exotics. I should have researched him better but like I said it was an emergency. Since my first visit I have read reviews on Yelp and YP.com in which he allegedly PTS a persons guinea pig then returned it in a box with bloody fingerprints on it, apparently squeezed and stretched a snake to the point that while the owner was taking it home it attempted to vomit and had blood in its mouth. The owner called the "Dr." who refused to further treat it, so it died. My personal experience was that he completed only a rudimentary examination, was arrogant, condescending, misdiagnosed my furchild and recommended enough medication that would've put her in cardiac arrest as per my regular vet. After 3 phone calls during the next week he finally returned my call and rudely and unprofessionally stated that he should charge me $90 for reading her previous records and that he could go ahead and charge me $300/hr because that is what his time is worth. I am a patient person and tolerate of a lot of crap but not this time so I took him to court. "Dr." Verwers was to much of a coward to show up. Unfortunately, Judge Swearington basically said that there was no case since animals are property citing a previous case where his neighbors dog was shot and killed. They attempted to sue. "Poor neighbor was heartbroken for 2 days". I asked him just 2 days? "Well, you know, he was heartbroken". Crap, really?? You think?? Also, because "Dr." Verwers wasn't there to defend himself there was no case. So what you're saying is there is no case because he is an arrogant coward? I guess that is not against the law. So enough is enough. I firmly believe in if I tell 2 friends and they tell 2 friends and so on and so on.maybe he will feel it in his thick wallet. Maybe he can take that $300/hr and get educated on some bedside manners. Or take a vacation by taking a flying leap off this planet. And take the Judge with him.
