I'm very happy with the customer service by the salesman Darius Tarasiewicz and the GM Shaun Openshaw at Open Road Mazda. I've enjoyed the CX-9's refinement and versatility for adventure. We added roof racks and a trailer hitch which have allowed us to create memories in a short time. Neighbors have come over to compliment the CX-9, and both family and friends have loved it. Our previous vehicle that the CX-9 replaced was a Mazda and my other vehicle is also a Mazda. We think we have found the brand for us moving forward. The sales experience at Open Road Mazda and our ownership experience has been incredibly positive so far. Context: I contacted my nearest 10 Mazda dealerships all with the same questions to evaluate the level of service, when I was researching the CX-9. While I will not name specific dealerships, or sales representatives there was wide range of customer service. Some dealerships were not willing to communicate over email, which was imperative to me. I sent several emails to the different dealerships with multiple questions, of which many were not answered or answered with very limited information and sometimes contradictory information. Some of my questions were perhaps uncomfortable such as what separates your dealership from other dealerships/ why should I buy from your dealership. Over the years I have visited several dealerships over the years and have purchased vehicles from 7 of them. I can say with certainty that Darius was the most helpful sales representative. He was flexible in communication with text/phone/email, while being prompt and detailed in his responses. He was knowledgeable and took the time to answer all questions. He did not resort to high pressure sales tactics and offered the best customer service of any of the dealerships. Since Open Road had the CX-9 in the trim and colour I wanted in stock, this was a no brainer to purchase here. When an issue arose with the CX-9 the GM Shaun was able to resolve it. I drove a 2013 Mazda 3 sport for just over one year and it met its unfortunate end when I got hit by a pick up truck driving to work last month. After researching another vehicle to purchase, I came back to wanting another Mazda 3 sport, it's that great of a car. I was pretty particular when I was looking for my previous Mazda 3, so I was saddened to learn that there wasn't one remotely similar to the one I had anywhere in the Lower Mainland. I was pretty hesitant wanting to purchase a new car, but Mazda had a 0% financing offer at the time I was looking. I weighed my options and at decided it was going to be been cheaper for me to finance a new, more expensive vehicle than to purchase a cheaper, used vehicle, with a high finance rate. When I first started looking for a second generation Mazda 3 sport over a year ago, I stopped by this dealership, but they didn't have what I was looking for. Fast forward a year and I found myself back here looking for a car once again. From the moment we walked into the dealership, we had nothing but a great experience working with Darius Tarasiewicz. He was knowledgeable, not pushy, and patiently worked with us on ways to decrease my monthly payments. There was nothing criminal or "slimy" in the way many dealerships treat their customers here! The folks at Open Road know what good customer service means, even if it takes a little more time to work out and finalize deals. Brought my car in for a routine servicing. Spent 289$ for basically an oil change. The service department talked down to me and treated me like I didn't have any concept of how cars work. Very degrading experience. Returned 6 weeks later with massive engine failure due to a spun bearing. #1 cause is due to lack of oil. Where was my last oil change done, Open Road Mazda Port Moody The service manager Jonathan wouldn't even look me in the eyes when confronted with my issue. He even tried to tell me what the function of oil is. Told me if you don't get an oil change by service date or well before your engine will fail. Then quoted me about 7200$ worth of damages with no acknowledgement that they forgot to add oil back to my car during servicing or didn't change it at all!! I looked at Open Road Mazda dealership as it is the closest to my house. Read Google reviews before going there and find out that the name Keaton has been mentioned a few times. So I decided to visit and give it a shot. First visit, I was serviced by someone else and noticed that he didn't have the listening skills and just before I about to walk away, I had a chat with Keaton and through that small interaction, I know why people are comfortable with his approach. Needless to say, I visited the second time and throughout the whole process, Keaton showed exemplary listening skill. We worked together for a deal and to top it off, the small gestures that he showed me at the end when I was about to pick up the car really made the experience memorable. Purchased a 2015 Mazda 3 in 2018. Brought in for oil change and advised that front brakes were shot. I approved work and received a call 40 minutes later that work was complete. Total bill $718 (220.00 labor). Called service manager who advised "that's the cost." WOW, these guys are rip off artists! Stay away!! read more

Worst dealership ever. Do NOT get your vehicle serviced here. They overbook and don't tell how long your service will be. You wait and wait and they think nothing of your time. The real problem with this place all stems from the general manager. He supports an attitude that shows they just don't give a crap. I was booked for a quick routine service. I found out after I booked that there was a recall notice for my car but they mentioned nothing about it when I booked. I had to actually ask if I could get the repair. A good dealership would tell YOU when you booked and fix it without being asked. I was told that would add 30 minute to my 1 hour appointment. 2.5 hours in I'm getting choked and go talk to the girl at the counter. She kept saying iit would be ready soon. I'm fuming by now at 3 hours and the manager comes down at talks to me as if he really cared and asked me what happened. So I carefully explained it to him and also said I'd missed an appointment. All he said was " I'm sorry you are not happy with the service today" and walked away. Whaaat?..... I figured that was so weird that he must be either comping my service or giving me a discount. But when I went to pay- full price for 3.5 hours of my day for a 1.5 hour appointment. Of course they wouldn't comp anything - this open road Mazda where they nickel and dime you to death! I have been a loyal customer for 10 years despite some crappy service in the past and I will never set foot in an open road dealership again. read more

Owning a Mazda 3 has been my dream car for the longest I can remember. I went to the dealership and brought my mother with me. We were greeted upon getting on the lot by a young sales man. I was prepared with questions and eager to get started. He was polite, yet seemed uninterested in talking specifics with me. I had to ask him to get the keys to unlock the car, ask about features, it was like pulling teeth getting information from him! He did not take me seriously as a customer. I asked to take it on a test drive and before we pulled out he questioned if I had adjusted my mirrors, to which I responded I had. He then questioned if I really did because he "didn't see me do it." I have been driving for over eight years, safe, no accidents. Perhaps if a 16 year old was coming onto the lot, but I am well into my 20's! We left that day and did not return. I checked out Metrotown Mazda and they exceeded my expectations and I bought my dream car from them. If you are looking for a mazda, dont look here. read more

I test drove the least expensive model of virtually every affordable make of car when my own car suddenly died, and finally settled on the Mazda Protege. The salesman (Jimmy T) was very friendly and encouraged me to test drive the car all afternoon, up and down hills and on the freeway, and didn't insist on coming with me. Nice change from Toyoto and Honda, who had to accompany me on a 5-block round trip test drive. Loved the car, the price, and even the salesman and have been driving the car for 13 years now. I take it back once a year for an oil change (don't drive it enough for more than that) and they've always been very fair and accommodating. I've never felt cheated by this dealer, which is a nice change. Funny that all my previous vehicles have been Fords but this is the longest time I've had a vehicle and it's a Mazda. I went to pick up the car with him and saw the staff were friendly and fair so when I had a terrible experience with Signature Mazda (liars) I went in to Open road. Thomas is a no pressure friendly salesman who looked out for my best interest with a genuine interest in finding me what I wanted. When the time came to purchase the finance manager was friendly, open, honest and made sure I wasn't getting myself into a bad financial situation. Before driving away Thomas told me to contact him anytime for anything I need and I have done that. Hes replied promptly and helped me with anything I have asked. I thought I had an issue with the car 6 weeks after purchase and service looked after it for me quickly and pain free. I live in Vancouver and would rather drive to Port Moody to deal with these guys than the shady characters in Van/Richmond. Bought a vehicle in February (ish), was thinking I got a good deal. Sat at the dealership for several hours until they finally finalized my deal and gave me next to nothing for my Jeep but that's OK, I agreed to that. My problem is more since then. I had some issues including paint chips they were supposed to take care of. I called, emailed, etc and no one has ever got back to me. Not to mention, now my vehicle seems to have some issues. I doubt they'd even help me unless it made them money. One other thing... My salesman said Sirius wasn't included. About 2 weeks after I had the Escape Sirius called me to ask how I was enjoying it. Yeah, imagine my confusion and frustration. Nice I missed 2 weeks. I've never bought a car where the salesman doesn't follow up. Hell I STILL hear from some of the dealers from way back. What happened to Mazda seems like the push for sales has let the quality of build decline. So after a $5,000.00+ repair bill new clunks were install steering was loose the belt was spraying rubber all over the engine compartment. Our trip to Ont took 27 liters of oil there and 22 liters back. The real fun started in Penticton leaving the town headed west the car lost all power and every light that could flash and light up did on the dash. We turned around and went back to Penticton we let the car cool down as it was pegged on hot. We unhooked the battery to reset the engine then started back out of town again. White knuckles all the way to Hope BC the car went through overheating and lost of power the whole way through the mountains. So knowing the car required a real mech we took it to Big O in Burnaby they diagnoses o2 sensors a oil change and rotate the tires after a trip to Ontario. Big O called and asked are we sure Mazda did the work they charged for we had to admit we took their word for it. Big O said the spark plugs are shot and the belt in the engine compartment was not aligned. The spark plugs were corroded to almost nothing this after a 5k repair bill no less. So Big O calls and said the work is done come get the car...remember new plugs a oil change both o2 sensors replaced tires rotated and things straigten up in the engine compartment. Cost not 5 or 1 thousand but a mere $320.00. The car is restored to full power it has stopped consuming oil by the bucket and really sounds new again. Now it's time for a new clutch do you think we are ever going back to Mazda for service ever again....no way jose' it's face to face with real mech from now on.
