I wandered in off the streets, a clueless new dance dad who didn't know the difference between tights and leotards, and, well, they didn't laugh at me. And my wallet isn't quite as light as I was afraid it would be. Baby K LOVES dancing, and though it is hard to find dance classes for kids under 3, Sweetie found some. And of course she has to have stuff to wear, and there's a shop at the school but I bet it is expensive. Prices here are what you would expect for toddler clothes (when not on sale.) I mean, there's less material involved, shouldn't it be cheaper? But no. Still, they could gouge you more than they do here. They had exactly what we needed when several other places did not. The staff were friendly and helpful, and when I said what I was looking for they went and got it so I didn't have to waste time. There's a huge selection, even of toddler dancing stuff but just in general. The store is packed, but nicely arranged. I brought my granddaughter here for shoes because she was starting an intro tap and ballet class. It is in the shopping center with Trader Joe's, and next to the yoga place. We walked in and was immediately greeted by the lady at the register. I asked if they sell used shoes, and she said no. I asked if they had shoes for toddlers, and she said yes, and proceeded to give wonderful customer service. She measured her feet, and did a great job finding both pairs of shoes that fit her, but still had a little bit of growing room. I was cringing at the anticipated cost, but it turned out each pair was $20. Not bad at all. I will definitely come back for anything else we will need in the future. They have a great shoe selection, as well as leotards and apparel for both children and adults. One star off for not offering used shoes. read more

Just signed my daughter up for dance classes and wanted to get a few outfits and support local rather than spend more money at Target than I already do. They were so nice! I popped in today on a whim to get some character shoes for rehearsal and they were so helpful. They were a little short staffed because of the snow today, and I never would have known it. The girl who helped me was super sweet, and really patient with me. I had an extremely bad experience when I went to this store. I had a couple of questions about my ordering and the stuff took care of me so badly. Her attitude was disrespectful, rude, even she brought me into ridicule. When I couldn't get her answer, she laughed at me and yelled. I can't believe it. She is the lowest of the low. I cannot say enough good things about Opening Night. Great selection and a friendly, knowledgable staff. We live off of 23 North and there is dance studio with a shop attached it literally across the street. I went in once, and had less than great experience but thought I would go back to see if maybe it was just an off day and received the same mediocre service. I will admit to not having any clue as to what we needed. As a mom who never took dance as a child, I was REALLY clueless, but hoped to at least find a place where I could gain a little insight. They just weren't interested. But at Opening Night they were patient, happy to explain and polite. I honestly found their prices to be comparable to other retail stores so no complaints there either. Its hard to have a good shopping experience in general these day especially in speciality shops like Opening Night but that is exactly what we have experienced on the occasions we have shopped there. If my daughter continues to dance I will keep taking my needs and my money to Opening Night and will highly recommend them to others. read more
