I had the de-calf-inated sandwich, the sweet potato fries, and the Caesar salad. My only complaint was that I wish I'd had more fries--they were fabulous. The veggie burger appeared to be a standard commercial pattie; it was served with avocado along with lettuce and tomato. All the burgers come with your choice of bun--I went for the pretzel bun. The full-size salad covers a large plate. A word of warning--the Caesar salad comes with onions on it. If you don't like onions, have them leave them off the salad. read more

Super high quality range-grazed lean beef, wonderful roll, fresh lettuce tomato, and other accompaniments. Great skin on fries. Enjoyed the fried pickles too. Also the people who work here are very nice. But they don't know how to cook meat of this quality and leanness. My "Range Burger" was cooked way beyond well with no flavor and the texture of a hockey puck. After I sent it back and waited 20 minutes for the replacement I got another hockey puck. Like bison or elk make sure you ask for rare to medium rare at most. read more

Three of four in our party rated this a 5 star burger joint; I'd rate my burger ("the goober" which included peanut butter) 3 stars as I found it to be overlooked and very dry. PB and beef is "different" but that's about it - can't say the two are a particularly great pairing - would recommend getting something else. Onion rings came served with tasty homemade ranch dressing with a nice dill note. Kids really liked their "range" burgers but the best of all our meals was my wife's juicy and cheesy French dip. Great stop!! The restaurant is clean and the employees are all helpful and friendly. We are from out of town and went here just based on other reviews, and it didn't disappoint. The flow is a little different in that you order and then sit. The only criticism is that all the burgers are cooked medium/well to well. I'm not sure if they'd cook it otherwise, but if that's what you prefer it's worth asking. read more

We found this place via the Yelp app and decided to drive the mile off of the highway to take a gander. Boy were we happy with the food, the choices, the restaurant decor and the service. These folks are friendly and it reflects in their service, food and menu. It's a really reasonably priced, wholesome stop, with vegetarian options (not too many mind you) as well as a very good beer selection. I'd go the extra mile again. read more

We loved the jalapeño burger (with locally sourced beef), hot papas (fried hash brown bites with cheese and jalapeños), hand-cut fries, and the house salad. Food is 3 stars. Service is -1 star netting a 2. I had the Gomorrah burger which was good. The onion rings were meh. The service sucked. The server disappeared after taking my order, never brought me silverware, not around for a drink refill. I arrived at 7:50 pm, got my burger about 15 minutes later, the staff put chairs on tables and mopped the floors all around me. Wow! I wish they just told me they were closing at 8pm so I could have gone elsewhere and enjoyed some service and atmosphere. read more

Not what we expected. Selected based on YELP reviews while on I-80 passing through. Be aware this really is not a full service restaurant. You seat yourself (took a while for us to figure this out), then you go up to a counter and put in your order including beverage(took another while for us to figure this out), you get your beer at the cash register when you place your burger order, and empty cup to take to self service for soda and sit down and wait for your food. When done, the waitress calls your name, you raise your hand, and the food comes. No catsup on our table, so the food runner did go grab two handfulls of packets and piled them in the center of the table. If you need a refill on your beer, you're on your own to go back to the bar. The upshot... the place is clean, the burgers were excellent, and the beer was very cold and served from frosted glasses. Would recommend if you're looking for a good burger and relaxed atmosphere, but not if you're looking to be waited on. read more

we've been driving all morning and ready for lunch passing through nebraska we stopped at this little town ogallalah and thanks to yelp found this off the beaten path local joinT and we were not disappointed! open range grill is not far from I80 about 10 minutes out and worth it. we had the best burgers ever. staff and service are great. if we ever pass through nebraska again we will certainly make a point of stopping by again and you should too! read more

On our way from Iowa to Colorado, we were sick of fast food and looking for nice local sit down restaurant. Reviews for Open Range Grill looked good so we decided to take a chance. It was packed when we arrived but we ordered our food pretty quickly. We headed outside to the patio with the kids so they could run around and waited. And waited. And waited. We finally went inside to inquire about our food after about an hour. It looked like at least four other annoyed groups who ordered ahead of us were waiting as well. After the manager (?) was through taking care of those parties, we were able to get her attention and she told us she would look into it for us. To be fair, they did get the kids some fries and chocolate milks at that point. So we settled into a booth inside and waited another 20 minutes for our order which only consisted of the burger special of the day, a cobb salad, a kid's hot dog and a kid's quesadilla. When the food did finally get there, all I can say is that it was okay. I've had much better and I've had worse. So all in all, our side trip to get some decent food and stretch our legs a bit turned into 2 hours, 10 minutes of which was spent eating. So, I would say if you're staying near the lake and don't mind waiting around if you need to for just okay food, this is the restaurant for you. If you're on the road and don't have hours to spend, keep on driving! read more
