Basic would be an upgrade description of this establishment. Our pick up from the airport was extremely lengthy even when calling the hotel several times. The room was less than comfortable, imagine you put a bed in an office with a small TV and to stage a hotel feel some nightstands. Due our unexpected stay in Miami we wanted a hotel close to the airport. Unfortunately we didn't have access to our checked bags. We asked for toothpaste but the hotel doesn't offer any. I absolutely love visiting the family owned-and-operated restaurants. And when it comes to Greek/Mediterranean business, I am all for a place that I've never been to before. This takes me to Wilmington, the largest city in Delaware where I had the opportunity to try out "Opa Opa". Located at the Village of Trolley Square strip mall and adjacent to Delaware Ave & N. Clayton St., this place has been serving up delicious Greek food dating back to 2015. I came here with my lady during the afternoon of Friday 10/10/2025 at around 2:45pm. The interior is bright, spacious, ample room for dining in, and pays homage to the blue and white Greek colors. Additionally, there are several art pieces that represent some of the more popular Greek destinations. Sodas, water, and other various beverages are available in a refrigerator across from the register/counter area. Since I was very hungry (and on my way north to Philadelphia), I decided to go with something that will carry me through the rest of the afternoon. I finally decided on their "Chicken Gyro Platter" w/fries. My lady went with their "Grilled Chicken Greek Salad". We didn't get any drinks as our waters is all we needed to enjoy our lunch. Both of our meals are ready in just under 7 minutes while everything is presented to us in a quick and timely manner. I do have to say that if you're starving, this is the place to come! My gyro was a very generous portion that offered huge chucks of seasoned chicken. In fact, the chicken to veggie ratio was 2:1 as they did not skimp on the protein. My pita bread that encased this was warm and made each bite very savory. The fries were also made well; crispy yet soft on the inside. And as you can see from the photo, the salad that my lady got was also huge. As I mentioned, come hungry and you will leave very full. All in all, "Opa Opa" was a very pleasant surprise as Wilmington offers a lot of ethnic food in all directions. This place also offers very generous hours as they are opened for business Monday through Saturday from 10:30am-10:00pm and Sunday from 11:00am-9:00pm. With above average customer service, a spacious inside dining area, reasonable prices, and generous food portions, this place earns a perfect five-star rating from me. read more

The gyros here are top notch. It's everything you'd want from a gyro food cart and more. You can get a fresh and decadent salad instead of fries for a few extra bucks. Best Greek Salads ever!! This place has such great Greek Salads (several varieties, all delicious) that I literally get cravings for them and have to sometimes drive out of my way to get one! They're huge, always fresh and flavorful, crammed full of tasty ingredients. Where they source their tomatoes, I don't know because they're always ripe, huge, and thick-sliced. I loved seeing all of the chefs cooking away behind the counter as I was paying for the grub. For $15.75 I got a hefty pita filled with chicken, red onion, lettuce and tzatziki and my salad with some of the freshest tomatoes and feta I've ever had. I gobbled everything down. Pretty sure I may not have come up for air between bites. The restaurant has plenty of seating if you're interested in eating inside ! My god the prices here have gotten insane. Everything greek is $17-$24. Two salads at lunch was $43 with tip. Mostly lettuce and awkwardly sliced chunks of blah tomatoes and almost no dressing. So glad I found an authentic Greek restaurant in Delaware. Located perfectly in Trolley Square. You order at the counter and can either take to it to go or seat yourself in the spacious dining area. Greek side salad was perfectly authentic 9/10. Chicken gyros were 7/10 bc I thought the pita could have been fresher and I felt more chicken would have also been better. I didn't take off any points bc it was late Friday night an hour before they closed. Also tried the hummus which was nice and garlicky. Definitely want to return to try more of their salads. Service was very quick, once my order was placed. The platter was served two skewers of shrimp, rice and French fries. So it's only right that soon as I seen them next to my original destination , I ran right over with no hesitation ! I have been ordering the Big Greek salad for well over a year. At $17.95, it's probably the most expensive, vegetable only, salad available through Grubhub. I'm willing to pay for this salad because it has always been hearty, full of romaine, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, olives and feta. They have a $6 special on Tuesdays (gyro and fries) and I believe a $10 special on Fridays (gyro and salad-though I'm not sure). They do gyros very well. Parking in Trolley Square can be a challenge, but it's located in a shopping plaza; so there's lot parking available. I would call when you order the special. What a disappointment! I missed mousaka so much and saw this highly rated Greek restaurant near me and was delighted! Until I opened my take out box container and completely deflated. $15.5 for this??!! I was astonished with how little food there was for a homemade mousaka platter. I was very close to getting a Gryo. I am glad I did not!! I got the cheesesteak. Best way to describe the cheesesteak was a cheesesteak cream puff. The cheese was plentiful and smooth. It was almost like a cheesesteak cream cheese spread, awesome. The roll was fluffy with a crusty bottom. The mushrooms, fried onions, LT were perfect compliments. $10 and it came with fries, you know I loved that!! More meat and meat flavor and we have a top contender. Very good experience! We have been here twice now. We drive down from the West Chester, PA area just because it is that good. There is an Opa Opanin West Chester that is uppity, expensive, and just not that good. It's a 40-minute drive for us if that tells you anything. The food here is very fresh, well seasoned, and plentiful. We have sampled both the gyro pita sandwiches, falafel, and last time the gyro greek salad. Each time we leave with boxes as the food is plentiful. Never a long wait for the food, and it is hot, and prepared right. The tzatziki is something special too. Thick and well seasoned. The young man working last time shared with us he came over from Athens a few years ago. He candidly mentioned while the food is good here, over in Greece it is tons better, prompting us to tell him we have a cruise scheduled there soon. This gives you an example of good friendly customer service. The restaurant is clean, well lit, not pretentious, and comfortable for eating. There is some outside seating as well. The location is in a strip mall and if that deters you, please keep moving. You're missing a hidden gem in plain sight, but you leave plenty of space for those who know and appreciate good Greek food. read more

Opa Opa makes consistently good Greek takeout sandwiches and meals. Service is friendly. Portions are good. Some individual items like tzatziki, rice pudding and dolmas seem priced a little high for what you get. My one wish is that they'd put falafels on their platters. I always get takeout because I live nearby...the dining area seems very clean but a little sterile in decor. I rarely see diners in the restaurant but I see plenty of takeout bags ready for pickup. Specials on Monday and Tuesday are good deals. When the mood next hits me for falafels or a gyro, I'll be going back. It's time you give it a try if you never have. read more

I am, however, docking stars for the absolutely terrible customer service of late. The people who keep this business running with their orders (and, let's be honest, this place isn't cheap, but it's worth it) really don't expect to be greeted upon crossing the threshhold with a terse "gimme a second." I get that you're busy, but no one should ever be too busy to be polite. Phone etiquette is equally bad. No time estimate, no greeting beyond a monotone "Opa-Opa." I love the food, but the customer experience has really fallen off over the years. Not enough to keep me away (yet), but it really should be corrected. read more

Got delivery last night and have this place a try. I'm no expert on greek food but I thought this was pretty good! I got a falafel pita, dolmades, hummus, and the horiatiki village salad. The falafel was tasty and flavorful and the pita was soft and delicious. The salad was especially good, the tomatoes were great quality and the feta/cucumbers/onion/peppers were a delicious combo. Terrible experience with this restaurant. I ordered online though the website for pick up and when I arrived at the restaurant I noticed there was a huge sign with a special price for what I ordered. I asked the lady who was at the register if I could have the special price for the day as I paid full online price. I was greeted with a very condescending and dismissive tone that toldme to cancel with door dash. I reiterated many times that I ordered through the restaurant website and there was no door dash option to cancel. Nor were there any door dash logos or signs that indicted door dash was involved. The lady even ran though the options on my phone on the reciept only to be surprised herself that the only option for customer service was their store number. I further asked what they could do to honor the special price and she again dismissively said NOTHING and to call next time.
