I absolutely love visiting the family owned-and-operated restaurants. And when it comes to Greek/Mediterranean business, I am all for a place that I've never been to before. This takes me to Wilmington, the largest city in Delaware where I had the opportunity to try out "Opa Opa". Located at the Village of Trolley Square strip mall and adjacent to Delaware Ave & N. Clayton St., this place has been serving up delicious Greek food dating back to 2015. I came here with my lady during the afternoon of Friday 10/10/2025 at around 2:45pm. The interior is bright, spacious, ample room for dining in, and pays homage to the blue and white Greek colors. Additionally, there are several art pieces that represent some of the more popular Greek destinations. Sodas, water, and other various beverages are available in a refrigerator across from the register/counter area. Since I was very hungry (and on my way north to Philadelphia), I decided to go with something that will carry me through the rest of the afternoon. I finally decided on their "Chicken Gyro Platter" w/fries. My lady went with their "Grilled Chicken Greek Salad". We didn't get any drinks as our waters is all we needed to enjoy our lunch. Both of our meals are ready in just under 7 minutes while everything is presented to us in a quick and timely manner. I do have to say that if you're starving, this is the place to come! My gyro was a very generous portion that offered huge chucks of seasoned chicken. In fact, the chicken to veggie ratio was 2:1 as they did not skimp on the protein. My pita bread that encased this was warm and made each bite very savory. The fries were also made well; crispy yet soft on the inside. And as you can see from the photo, the salad that my lady got was also huge. As I mentioned, come hungry and you will leave very full. All in all, "Opa Opa" was a very pleasant surprise as Wilmington offers a lot of ethnic food in all directions. This place also offers very generous hours as they are opened for business Monday through Saturday from 10:30am-10:00pm and Sunday from 11:00am-9:00pm. With above average customer service, a spacious inside dining area, reasonable prices, and generous food portions, this place earns a perfect five-star rating from me. read more

Opa Opa is a wonderful, traditional Greek spot with that true home-cooked, family-owned feel and friendly service. I came for their "Super Tuesday" deal, which included the Gyro Platter with fries for just $9.95. The gyro was packed with lots of lamb meat, onions, tomatoes, and tzatziki, plus a good helping of fries on the side. Delicious food, great value, and a pleasant atmosphere. The gyros here are top notch. It's everything you'd want from a gyro food cart and more. You can get a fresh and decadent salad instead of fries for a few extra bucks. I know the gyros look really skinny in the foil but they are camera shy. They are actually massive once you get them out of their shiny shell. They are growers (not showers) Food is made to order so I always call ahead, this way my food is waiting for me upon arrival. This is not the Opa Opa that you are used to ordering from. They've been sold & their food quality has suffered. They used to have the best Greek salads around with ripe tomatoes in it. Not any more. Best Greek Salads ever!! This place has such great Greek Salads (several varieties, all delicious) that I literally get cravings for them and have to sometimes drive out of my way to get one! They're huge, always fresh and flavorful, crammed full of tasty ingredients. Where they source their tomatoes, I don't know because they're always ripe, huge, and thick-sliced. I usually have to take half my salad home to eat as leftovers, but it's really hard to put my fork down. So darn tasty!!! read more

I had a hankering for a salad. Surprised I had never been here before! It's definitely a local fave when it comes to greek staples like gyros, souvlaki and moussaka. I called in my order for the chicken gyro platter with side Greek salad to go. The service was quick, it was ready for me when I arrived (15 mins after placing my order). I loved seeing all of the chefs cooking away behind the counter as I was paying for the grub. For $15.75 I got a hefty pita filled with chicken, red onion, lettuce and tzatziki and my salad with some of the freshest tomatoes and feta I've ever had. I gobbled everything down. Pretty sure I may not have come up for air between bites. The restaurant has plenty of seating if you're interested in eating inside ! My god the prices here have gotten insane. Everything greek is $17-$24. Two salads at lunch was $43 with tip. Mostly lettuce and awkwardly sliced chunks of blah tomatoes and almost no dressing. Had to add my own vinaigrette when I got home. Inflation is one thing but this is just gouging. Only place other than EL Diablo doing lunch and they sure know it. A shame. read more

So glad I found an authentic Greek restaurant in Delaware. Located perfectly in Trolley Square. You order at the counter and can either take to it to go or seat yourself in the spacious dining area. Greek side salad was perfectly authentic 9/10. Chicken gyros were 7/10 bc I thought the pita could have been fresher and I felt more chicken would have also been better. I didn't take off any points bc it was late Friday night an hour before they closed. Also tried the hummus which was nice and garlicky. Definitely want to return to try more of their salads. Craving some Greek food? You should check out Opa Opa located in the Trolley Square area of Wilmington. On this trip I dined in and tried the Shrimp Soulvkai platter. Service was very quick, once my order was placed. The platter was served two skewers of shrimp, rice and French fries. The platter also included a well seasoned Greek salad with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta cheese. I was really surprised by the portion of food, definitely had leftovers. I'm a sucker for Greek food , especially lamb gyros ! They are my weakness - extra white sauce of course ! So it's only right that soon as I seen them next to my original destination , I ran right over with no hesitation ! I ordered a lamb gyro (don't forget the extra white sauce) w/ a salad instead of fries , and since the Spanakopita (spinach pie) was just sitting there nice and warm in my face , it was only right I devoured one while I waited for my food . I have been ordering the Big Greek salad for well over a year. At $17.95, it's probably the most expensive, vegetable only, salad available through Grubhub. I'm willing to pay for this salad because it has always been hearty, full of romaine, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, olives and feta. Yesterday's order was pathetic, with only 1/3 of the salad I usually get. If OPA OPA is trying to cut costs, they had better lower the price. I won't chance it again. read more

Not a lot of purely Greek options in Wilmington, but Opa Opa is my go-to for gyros. They have a $6 special on Tuesdays (gyro and fries) and I believe a $10 special on Fridays (gyro and salad-though I'm not sure). They do gyros very well. Parking in Trolley Square can be a challenge, but it's located in a shopping plaza; so there's lot parking available. I would call when you order the special. Online, the specials do not appear. read more

What a disappointment! I missed mousaka so much and saw this highly rated Greek restaurant near me and was delighted! Until I opened my take out box container and completely deflated. $15.5 for this??!! I was astonished with how little food there was for a homemade mousaka platter. Of course with my luck it had to be a corner piece where the top layer is there n the bottoms are all missing. What a joke. Apparently platter only comes with a side salad which was small. Very small. They should have called it side order of mousaka the way it came. The rest of the sandwiches were just ok. Nothing spectacular. Gyro n chicken gyros with fries. Never come here again! Trying to show top and side view of the sad piece of mousaka. You can kind of see the corner is slopped down due to the bottom layers all missing. There is also a stray piece of French fries next to my piece which actually made it look bigger. The height of it barely half of the tin box which is about 1.5 inch. Dino's Opa-Opa gyro house, Greek isle pictures on the walls, Greek music, soccer on TV, heavy Greek accents behind the counter, menu on wall had pictures of gyros, Greek fries, baklava. I was very close to getting a Gryo. I am glad I did not!! I got the cheesesteak. Best way to describe the cheesesteak was a cheesesteak cream puff. The cheese was plentiful and smooth. It was almost like a cheesesteak cream cheese spread, awesome. The roll was fluffy with a crusty bottom. The mushrooms, fried onions, LT were perfect compliments. $10 and it came with fries, you know I loved that!! More meat and meat flavor and we have a top contender. Very good experience! We have been here twice now. We drive down from the West Chester, PA area just because it is that good. There is an Opa Opanin West Chester that is uppity, expensive, and just not that good. It's a 40-minute drive for us if that tells you anything. The food here is very fresh, well seasoned, and plentiful. We have sampled both the gyro pita sandwiches, falafel, and last time the gyro greek salad. Each time we leave with boxes as the food is plentiful. Never a long wait for the food, and it is hot, and prepared right. The tzatziki is something special too. Thick and well seasoned. The young man working last time shared with us he came over from Athens a few years ago. He candidly mentioned while the food is good here, over in Greece it is tons better, prompting us to tell him we have a cruise scheduled there soon. This gives you an example of good friendly customer service. The restaurant is clean, well lit, not pretentious, and comfortable for eating. There is some outside seating as well. The location is in a strip mall and if that deters you, please keep moving. You're missing a hidden gem in plain sight, but you leave plenty of space for those who know and appreciate good Greek food. read more

Opa Opa makes consistently good Greek takeout sandwiches and meals. Service is friendly. Portions are good. Some individual items like tzatziki, rice pudding and dolmas seem priced a little high for what you get. My one wish is that they'd put falafels on their platters. I always get takeout because I live nearby...the dining area seems very clean but a little sterile in decor. I rarely see diners in the restaurant but I see plenty of takeout bags ready for pickup. Specials on Monday and Tuesday are good deals. When the mood next hits me for falafels or a gyro, I'll be going back. It's time you give it a try if you never have. read more

I have been a customer since the beginning, and I've never had a bad meal here - food is consistently awesome every time. I am, however, docking stars for the absolutely terrible customer service of late. The people who keep this business running with their orders (and, let's be honest, this place isn't cheap, but it's worth it) really don't expect to be greeted upon crossing the threshhold with a terse "gimme a second." I get that you're busy, but no one should ever be too busy to be polite. Phone etiquette is equally bad. No time estimate, no greeting beyond a monotone "Opa-Opa." I love the food, but the customer experience has really fallen off over the years. Not enough to keep me away (yet), but it really should be corrected. read more

Got delivery last night and have this place a try. I'm no expert on greek food but I thought this was pretty good! I got a falafel pita, dolmades, hummus, and the horiatiki village salad. The falafel was tasty and flavorful and the pita was soft and delicious. The salad was especially good, the tomatoes were great quality and the feta/cucumbers/onion/peppers were a delicious combo. Don't forget to get an extra order of pita ($1) to dip in the hummus if you get it. Generous portions for reasonable prices. I'll definitely order from here again. read more

Terrible experience with this restaurant. I ordered online though the website for pick up and when I arrived at the restaurant I noticed there was a huge sign with a special price for what I ordered. I asked the lady who was at the register if I could have the special price for the day as I paid full online price. I was greeted with a very condescending and dismissive tone that toldme to cancel with door dash. I reiterated many times that I ordered through the restaurant website and there was no door dash option to cancel. Nor were there any door dash logos or signs that indicted door dash was involved. The lady even ran though the options on my phone on the reciept only to be surprised herself that the only option for customer service was their store number. I further asked what they could do to honor the special price and she again dismissively said NOTHING and to call next time. I'm happy to say there won't be a next time as no one should be treated this way especially when you have a huge sign our front marketing a special price yet not honor it. read more
