    Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure
    James P.

There may be a very good Italian restaurant hidden inside this pizzeria. I got the special cheesesteak, peppers, onions & mushrooms. I liked the flavor of the meat in my cheesesteak, the slice of sausage pizza I ate while waiting for my cheesesteak and the bar with a sign that read '$3 Yuengling drafts.' I'm sorry I got peppers on my cheesesteak. Even at $13.90 the cheesesteak was a touch small. The roll was a mess. The cheesesteak was a miss but I think there may be a very good Italian restaurant hidden inside Cafe Valentina. The Owner's appear to be real Italian's, my cheesesteak meat had great flavor, great sausage on my slice, prices are good, a steady flow of regulars getting 'to go' orders and they have a bar.

Ive been coming to this wonderfully authentic Italian restaurant with such a nice family like atmosphere , for over 10 years .. this place has been a staple for many many years and have very many loyal customers and extremely delicious food... Beautiful ambiance and wonderful service all around the board well done

Need to get better scores from Delaware board of health. Lasagna ordered was lots of meat, unbalanced with cheese and sauce.

We were greeted immediately by our server and a trainee. I ordered an old fashioned and my wife ordered a specialty cocktail. Both tasted great however, wait for the drink was excessive. The bar had an afterwork crowd and it appeared a bit understaffed. For my meal I ordered grilled octopus for a starter and I think it was one of the best I've ever had. Tender, savory with a really flavorful sauce. My wife had the Ricotta focaccia. Loved it. For dinner I had the pasta with mushroom and truffle. It was amazing. Temperature was perfect. It was hot, creamy and amazingly flavorful. My wife had the bream fish dish. She enjoyed that as well. For dessert we had the almond/chocolate tort. Very nicely warmed with a rich chocolate flavor to end the meal. I'll be back for sure.

If I served it , even on a weeknight at home I'd be apologizing. My husband had the durado , he said it was so so, my sister thought her meal average and named several other places we had eaten that she would prefer, my niece had the pork , no rave review. The flourless chocolate cake was good. I was told cheesecake ok. The price was moderate, but I have paid a lot less for a lot better. When I read how the meals were prepared and ingredients I thought we were headed into a very special dinner. I hate writing negative reviews but I did teach cooking when I was younger and have certain expectations when I am going to a now celebrated restaurant.

It is often regarded as one of the best, and you can tell both the chefs and the staff work hard to make it that way. We tried 8 dishes (they recommended 4 to 6 for two people, so we over did it) and left stuffed...like could not finish the delicious dessert stuffed. Our ranking of the dishes we ate: --Carbonara--yes yes yes, a delightful explosion --Lamb neck--the richness of the broth cut slightly with the acidity of the passionfruit...order this --Branzino--light, flaky, heavily seasoned skin (in the best way) --Burrata pop tart--a classic that the entire table will love --Beef Tartare--loved the pillowy bread twist on this dish --Salmon--these are meant to be eaten in 1 bite, a pop of citrus with salty roe at the end --Scallop--this was the only miss for me. I thought the flavors were competing with each other instead of complementing. The Ode to Chocolate was awesome with so many different flavors and textures. A chocolate lovers dream! The staff here was super friendly and helpful. Each dish was described as it came out. I always love that because it shows how much care goes into each dish. Sabrina, our waitress, recommended incredible dishes and answered the dozens of questions we had. We will, of course, be back to try even more.
