We tried this place for the first time for lunch. It was really good and the portions are large. We shared our entrees I had the gyro with roasted potatoes and my husband tried the calamari which came with rice, bread, green beans and potatoes. The location is on a side street from 36 you may not see it from 36 but worth looking for. Next time we're definitely trying the flaming cheese appetizer. Back here today for lunch. So, I asked my friends on Facebook where I wanted to eat in Avon Indiana today since I was going to be out here. The overwhelming majority said I needed to come here. Upon entry, the place is beautiful. And it smells fantastic! Stand by for how the rest is.. My service was great. The daytime bartender waited on me and she was very patient and a real peach. I ordered Pastitsio I was surprised at how sweet it was. I did not like it. The pasta was overdone and I was not expecting the sweet. The Greek salad that came with it however was delicious. My server very graciously took that away and brought me my second choice the opa pasta with shrimp. Sweet baby jesus, that was absolutely delicious! A couple of friends told me to be sure to order dessert. So I got something that started with a G that isn't on their online menu. Custard in philo with syrup and cinnamon. Sooooo good. Revisited this spot yesterday. The chicken keftedes were incredibly flavorful. Their green beans (fasolakhia) was okay, a bit too soft for my personal taste, and traditionally the green beans have a bit more firmness to them. Just moved to Indy and have been craving gyro meat and some refreshing Greek flavors. My sister took me to OPA! and I loved it. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with options to sit outdoors. The portions were generous (great for sharing!) and there was so much variety on the menu with a children's menu as well. Prices were completely reasonable considering the portion sizes and quality. The gyro platter was exactly what I was craving-- side of Greek salad, lots of pita bread, potatoes, Greek green beans, rice, lots of gyro meat. Flavors were amazing and some of the freshest + most authentic Greek food I've had in awhile. Loved our server too! Definitely recommend OPA! whether it's a date night, eating with friends, or eating as a family with kids. Not to mention the big slice of tiramisu for less than $5! read more

Well what do you know....there's another good restaurant in Avon besides Cooper's Hawk and Bangkok Kitchen! I came to Opa's on a cold, rainy Wednesday night. I wasn't expecting much and was upset because I didn't feel like driving into Indy with the weather and traffic. I didn't want to go to Cooper's Hawk two nights in a row, so I was desperate. Opa's came up with pretty high rating, but I figured it was just because there wasn't much to compare it to. I was WRONG! The restaurant is fairly large with am abundance of parking because it's in a plaza. I arrived around 545pm, so the restaurant wasn't super busy. With all of the servers standing around talking, I figured that meant they were eventually going to get busy. By 630, the crowd had about doubled. I sat at the bar. I was quickly greeted by the bartender since there was only one other person sitting. I ordered a margarita and calamari appetizer to start. My margarita was on point!! The fact that it was top shelf, large and only $10, made it even better! Fried calamari isn't hard to do, but it is easy to mess up. Opa's doesn't have to worry about that! The calamari was tasty, hot and fried perfectly. For my meal I got the lamb chops. It came with a salad, potatoes and green beans and rice, as pictured. I order my lamb medium rare. I always worry about it being over or under cooked, Opa's was neither! It was cooked perfectly, with great flavor. I didn't really eat much of the green beans or potatoes, but the little bit I did eat was good! I'm so glad I took a chance and came here! I'll now add Opa's to the list of places that I don't mind eating again, when I'm in town and don't feel like going into downtown!! I'll be back soon! read more

I wish they would open a restaurant on the east side. It is our favorite Greek restaurant. It is an open and airy dining room and sports while table cloths on the tables. The service is always good, the food is yummy, and the portions are generous. I brought home almost as much as I ate in the restaurant. We expected 35 people for lunch after a Saturday memorial service. We made a reservation for 1pm, but the service ended sooner than anticipated. When we called Opa! to see if we could come earlier, they moved our lunch (for 35 people!) to noon. On a Saturday!! Service was easygoing, calm and efficient. Our servers, Savannah(I think) and Cole, were relaxed and took our random requests in stride. Every order was correct, the food is wonderful, and the atmosphere was good. We will be back! read more

It's 08APR25. Bottom line, there is a general appearance of uncleanliness. The floor was extremely dirty with food pieces everywhere, chairs with food residue in them, even the kitchen entrance was dirty. And not an afternoon or day of accumulation but days of accumulation. This place is usually great with a positive energy, quality food and reasonable price. But the cleanliness is lacking. Recommend giving the bus person a simple additional task of spot sweeping the floor thru the day and inspect afterwards. OPA is a legitimate, sit-down, full menu, nice ambiance Greek restaurant with a liquor license. You might not realize that from the glance you get driving past on Rockville Road. There's a good selection of Greek wines as well. From apps to desserts there's something for everyone and certainly you cannot go wrong with whatever you choose. There's a choice of indoor and outdoor dining is available. The servers are friendly and attentive. I went to Opa yesterday to pick up my dinner order. The order was ready when I arrived at the restaurant. I returned home and we noticed we were missing the tzatziki sauce for our food so I had to return to the restaurant to get it. I showed them my receipt and instead of giving me the (4) tzatziki sauces I requested for my order I had to wait until she found my order so she could confirm it. I was there about (15) minutes earlier. The other girl only gave me (3) tzatziki sauces instead of the (4) I requested for my order. Most restaurants that I pickup from will give you whatever item within reason that you state is missing without asking you questions about your order. I cannot imagine that the small cups of tzatziki sauce cost the restaurant that much money to question a customer about their order and short them one tzatziki sauce. I also noticed the receipt they give you is not itemized so you cannot determine whether you paid the correct amount. If they have given me an itemized receipt, there would have been no need to interrogate me about my order. I never received an apology for them not packing everything in my order. They did not offer me anything extra for my time and gas to have to come back to the store to get the rest of my order. The food was great. My only complaint with the food is I ordered a small salad for $1.95. The salad did not even fill half the small styrofoam container. I received (1) olive, (1) tiny tomato, and barely any cheese with it. The food tasted good but their poor customer service will keep from going back there for awhile. First off, our server, Joy, was delightful. The restaurant was crowded, loud, and hot, but she stayed friendly and attentive. It's a bit pricey, but the food is decent enough. The gyros appetizer platter is a great starter! I got the pastitsio and my husband chose the kefthethes. I would recommend mine again, but he seemed underwhelmed by his selection. The potatoes, rice, and green beans that come with the meal were disappointing--salty and too lemony and lukewarm. The food was delicious, I bought the hot appetizer sampler for my dinner. We had a family dinner, so there was 14 of us. We made reservations and were seated right on time. We did take our time, ordered multiple appetizers, entrees & desserts. They didn't have all of the desserts we wanted, but ran out of 2 we wanted.
