Excellent food! We were completely unfamiliar with the town of Dubuque, and just took a chance on this restaurant. Excellent choice. The food was fresh and well prepared. The service was attentive. I really enjoyed my Thai lime iced tea. Nice vibe inside the restaurant. There's a nice bookstore right around the corner you can visit before or after your meal! We would definitely return here!

Was visiting and wanted to try this little spot. It did not disappoint. Came in late on a Friday night and was able to snag a booth, lucky me as it was packed. Ordered the Lobster Rangoons and Pho. Rangoons had a smooth filling and were crunchy and tasty. The Pho had thinly sliced steak with meatballs. The broth was hot and flavorful. It was legit. The owner stopped by and asked how our meal was. Very cool guy, he told me he use to live in Chicago and likes to visit Argyle aka Little Siagon (where Pho is battle tested). So he knows how to do it. Cute place, with booths, tables and high tops. Will be back!

    Thai Basil Stir-Fry w/ chicken

We were in the area for the weekend and decided to try this Asian restaurant since I had a taste for Asian food. There is limited metered parking on the street which is where we parked. Inside is nice and clean. However, there is limited space inside so they could reach capacity rather quickly on a busy day. We went around 11ish on a Friday and it was not busy at all. For an appetizer we had the lobster Rangoon which had an interesting taste but they were good. Cooked throughout and crunchy on the outside. The sauce on the side was good as well. I tried the pad Thai with beef added and the Thai basil stir-fry with chicken added. Adding protein to any dish is an additional $3.50 per protein. I was shocked because in most restaurants, the protein comes with the dish. The pad Thai was not the best, the flavor was not what I typically like, it had a very big citrus taste. The noodles were very slimy, not sure what kind of beef they used but it was very dry. Also, I don't particularly like whole peanuts and this dish had lots of them. The Thai basil stir-fry had good flavor. However, the chicken was unrecognizable and hard to find within the dish.

$17.75 pad Thai with 5 shrimp included ‍

I paid $17.75 for pad Thai and there were more sprouts than pad Thai noodles. The Rangoon were overcooked and horribly dry. This is not the first time I've had problems with the experience here, unfortunately in Dubuque, it is one of few places serving these options.

Milk tea w/ popping boba (i think strawberry flavor)

This is a delivery order review. I ordered through eatstreet since I didn't have transportation. Quick delivery! The food is decent. I ordered a pad thai w/beef (fyi, meat are extra $$) and boba milka tea. It does have a unique flavor. Not the pad thai flavor that I'm used to tasting. I should have research on what kind of boba they had. I made a mistake and ordered boba to my milk tea. Unfortunately, it was a flavored popping boba (maybe strawberry flavor) rather than the tapioca kind and it did not go well with my milk tea. The boba was not worth $1.50. For now, I will need to try other dishes to see if I'll keep coming back.

Greetings. When I entered Oolong Asian cuisine I was quickly greeted by the waitress and given a seat by their windows. The room was very warm and simplistic, with beautiful lighting and fresh flowers. After ordering I waiting about 3 minutes until my appetizer came (Vegetable Spring Rolls). The vegetable spring rolls are genuinely nothing short of a miracle, a very soft and crunchy exterior and a equally soft and flavorful inside. After around 6 more minutes my entree came (Stir Fried Udon). The Stir fried udon had a chewy texture that paired very well with the sauce it was in. And the vegetables worked very well with the noodles (Especially the mushrooms which were made wonderfully). The waitress was attentive and very kind. One of my favorite places to eat Asian cuisine in all. I'll be dining here again. Thank you. (Oolong Asian cuisine has changed their menu a few times, so I do apologize for any improper cuisine names I may have used.)

I am a Chinese, and business trip in US, This is the best Asian food what I have in USA.

This is the best Asian restaurant in Dubuque. This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. Oolong is tucked away in an old refurbished downtown location and very nicely done. The restaurant has the feel of a family restaurant. The owner waits tables and provides effecient and friendly service. The menu is limited but had just what we like. We started with steamed dumplings and a nice serving and delicious. I had pho which was very good. It did include meatballs that I will ask to be left out next time. Don't forget to ask for extra jalapeños. We will definitely return!

Red curry coconut soup with beef- loved it at spicy level "hot". (Reminds me of Khao Soi)

Loved it! Considering it's in Dubuque, I didn't expect authentic Thai flavors but it was delicious! Ordered Thai red curry soup with beef, spicy hot version. Ride noodle in it was plenty to fill up a hungry soul. Need to come back to try other menu items!

Oolong fills a much needed Asian fusion fix in downtown Dubuque. With ramen, pho and some curry options, they have a good variety of entrees to choose from. They also offer some unique appetizers. My boyfriend and I absolutely love gyozas and must try them if they're on a menu. They had a very Midwest inspired dumpling that was filled with eggs, bacon and cheese, served with a side of garlic cheese sauce and a chipotle maple sauce. Not at all traditional, it was tasty and would probably help some of the less adventurous eaters feel like they are stepping out of their Midwest comfort food zone without straying too far. And that cheese sauce that the dumplings came with was so garlicky and delicious! For entrees, we both got pho. If you are not a sprouts fan like myself, ask for them on the side. All of the other fixings they put on the side. I will admit that the price is a bit steep at $13 a bowl. I can get the same amount for around $9- $11 anywhere in San Diego. BUT, it was a very big portion and will fill anyone up. After speaking with the owner, who is so kind, he also explained how difficult it is to get a lot of the restaurant's ingredients nearby. He travels to Madison to purchase many items which makes the price more understandable and makes me appreciate the dedication of the business so much more. The owner is so passionate about the food and the experience of coming into his restaurant. You can tell that he thought about every detail for the decor. The plates, silverware, lighting - it's all so esthetically pleasing to the eye and builds on the dinner experience. Dubuque needs more restaurants like Oolong.

Quaint little restaurant and the decor was solid. We had to wait for almost everything which isn't surprising as they looked to be short-staffed - I hope they staff more than two front house people regularly. My friend and I had drinks, he tried a Thai beer and peach saki, which he enjoyed. I had fountain root beer. We ordered steamed potstickers, which came out too quickly, were just north of warm and the sauce was far too sweet. Underwhelming. They'd be better if they were up to temp and the sauce was more savory and less sweet. The crabmeat Rangoon was crisp on one side and a little soggy on the other, they came out hot but I think they had been sitting for a bit. The sauce was again, far too sweet. It looked like straight honey with red pepper flakes in it. The entrees however, almost made up for the appetizers. Both plates were large and outstanding flavor. He had Racy Pad Thai (shrimp) with level 2 heat (1-5). I had chicken pad Thai (level 3), with a tamarind-based sauce and chopped peanuts on top. Again, both were fantastic. Overall a pleasant experience, I will return.

It's nicely decorated and comfortable. We were greeted and told to sit anywhere. We chose the last available booth and placed our order. After the server left we noticed that the table needed to be wiped. We didn't see the server again until our food was ready, so she's probably working in the kitchen as well as tables. When our food came we asked for the table to be wiped and she did. The appetizers came without plates for us but no big deal. We were splitting an entree. We then asked for plates and forks when the entree arrived, which she provided, but no napkins, which my husband went and grabbed. Our shrimp entree was spicy and still flavorful, everything I love about good Thai food. My point is that this place with really really good food is only marginal as far as the table service goes. In spite of the issues with service I'm giving them all the stars because the food was so good. Try them!

The workers and owners here at Hot 'n Spicy are very friendly and the larb siin, thum mak hoong, siin savanh, sai oua (medium), combo crispy lard nar, and sesame balls are the bomb! The larb's bitter and sour, with the beef tasting tender and juicy, just like how I like it and how I make it. The thum has the same fishy, pungent taste that I love, with super fresh papaya and tomatoes. These were the two dishes I ordered when I first checked out this restaurant in April 2022, and both taste just like how I remembered them. The siin savanh's flavorful (with hints of fish sauce and soy sauce), crisp, and tender. The sai oua's super juicy and tender, with spices, and is of the sweet variety (not the sour variety). The jeow som that comes with it is super garlicky and fishy, with a slight hint of spice, just as I'd want it like and how I'd make it myself. The lard nar has crispy noodles that were just right in terms of crisp and flavor (you can feel the crispy while still tasting the flavor of the wide rice noodles) and the protein's also the right level of tenderness (not tough at all)! I think the sauce uses more soy sauce than I'd like, as it's a bit heavier than what I make and see at most other restaurants, but that's no big deal. The sesame balls are warm, the perfect level of chewy, and generously filled. The bean filling's so tasty. They also aren't oily in the slightest! The (regular) sticky rice, purple, is fresh and is a generous option for the price. I wish the food were spicier, as I used to order this same spice level (their spiciest level) years back and found myself sweating and having a runny nose. I hope I might be able to order spicier than their spiciest level next time! I ordered a lot and they were in the middle of a lunch rush during my visit, but all my dishes came at a reasonable time. Also, my waitress, Alyssa (not sure if I spelled her name correctly since I didn't ask her how she spells it), made sure to check on me and other tables every few minutes to see how we were doing! After my meal, I love how Alyssa gave me some stickers, just as I love how I got to speak a little bit with the kitchen staff (as they were less busy by the time I was leaving)! I found it funny how some of them thought I was Kevin, a family friend of theirs. It was this amazing combination of food and service, which reminded me of my family and simpler times, that was the reason this restaurant was my go-to restaurant when I was a law school student at UW-Madison years back (even though this restaurant was out of my way and there were so many other Lao/Southeast Asian restaurants closer to where I was living). My visits here back then helped more than I could ever describe with combating all the stress I had (because law school was so difficult) and the loneliness I had (because I had no luck making friends at the time). Sadly, they didn't have Thai iced tea during my visit, so that'll be a reason for me to come back! I'll have to get their pho next time, as that's also a dish I ordered years ago and loved! Btw, this restaurant will soon be moving from inside of Viet Hoa Market to Mishqui Peruvian Bistro (same plaza), which will allow them to have more tables/seating and more hours, so I'll definitely be back after they've moved!
