The food is excellent, especially the miso ramen, which is a comforting mix of miso soup and ramen topped with two gigantic pork chashu cutlets. It's the kind of meal that reminds you of some of the best cuisine around. We also loved the pad Thai and can't wait to try the Thai basil dish and more on our next visit. The Thai iced tea was another standout - perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet like the usual versions with condensed milk. It tasted very authentic. This was much needed for a cold day, their broth was very thick (a bit saltier for my taste, but no too salty, I'm just a mild eater!) and noodles were very well cooked, chewy and fresh. When you walk in the vibe is cozy right away. It's not a huge place, but it feels intimate without being cramped. Our server was super attentive and fast, without hovering. Top tier! Lastly the food was fantastic. We started with the Lobster Rangoons which were delicious but volcanic so be sure to let them cool! My wife got the Pho and I got the Stir Fry Udon with Red Curry. Was visiting and wanted to try this little spot. It did not disappoint. Came in late on a Friday night and was able to snag a booth, lucky me as it was packed. Ordered the Lobster Rangoons and Pho. Rangoons had a smooth filling and were crunchy and tasty. The Pho had thinly sliced steak with meatballs. The broth was hot and flavorful. It was legit. The owner stopped by and asked how our meal was. Very cool guy, he told me he use to live in Chicago and likes to visit Argyle aka Little Siagon (where Pho is battle tested). We were in the area for the weekend and decided to try this Asian restaurant since I had a taste for Asian food. There is limited metered parking on the street which is where we parked. Inside is nice and clean. However, there is limited space inside so they could reach capacity rather quickly on a busy day. We went around 11ish on a Friday and it was not busy at all. For an appetizer we had the lobster Rangoon which had an interesting taste but they were good. Cooked throughout and crunchy on the outside. The sauce on the side was good as well. I tried the pad Thai with beef added and the Thai basil stir-fry with chicken added. Adding protein to any dish is an additional $3.50 per protein. I was shocked because in most restaurants, the protein comes with the dish. The pad Thai was not the best, the flavor was not what I typically like, it had a very big citrus taste. The noodles were very slimy, not sure what kind of beef they used but it was very dry. Also, I don't particularly like whole peanuts and this dish had lots of them. The Thai basil stir-fry had good flavor. However, the chicken was unrecognizable and hard to find within the dish. read more

I ordered a pad thai w/beef (fyi, meat are extra $$) and boba milka tea. It does have a unique flavor. Not the pad thai flavor that I'm used to tasting. I should have research on what kind of boba they had. I made a mistake and ordered boba to my milk tea. Unfortunately, it was a flavored popping boba (maybe strawberry flavor) rather than the tapioca kind and it did not go well with my milk tea. The boba was not worth $1.50. $70 lunch was major disappointment. Spring rolls and dumplings were good, not great. Beer was not cold and was flat. Veggies in curry were FROZEN, not fresh. Mushy and tasteless. Made the dish inedible. Pad Thai too salty, couldn't eat much. Service was acceptable. Dubuque is getting too sophisticated for an Asian restaurant to serve frozen vegetables. Greetings. When I entered Oolong Asian cuisine I was quickly greeted by the waitress and given a seat by their windows. The room was very warm and simplistic, with beautiful lighting and fresh flowers. After ordering I waiting about 3 minutes until my appetizer came (Vegetable Spring Rolls). The vegetable spring rolls are genuinely nothing short of a miracle, a very soft and crunchy exterior and a equally soft and flavorful inside. After around 6 more minutes my entree came (Stir Fried Udon). The Stir fried udon had a chewy texture that paired very well with the sauce it was in. And the vegetables worked very well with the noodles (Especially the mushrooms which were made wonderfully). The waitress was attentive and very kind. One of my favorite places to eat Asian cuisine in all. I'll be dining here again. Thank you. This is the best Asian restaurant in Dubuque. This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. Oolong is tucked away in an old refurbished downtown location and very nicely done. The restaurant has the feel of a family restaurant. The owner waits tables and provides effecient and friendly service. The menu is limited but had just what we like. We started with steamed dumplings and a nice serving and delicious. I had pho which was very good. It did include meatballs that I will ask to be left out next time. I ordered the Thai Basil Stir fry with broccoli. Extra charge for broccoli. It was basically rice and shredded cabbage. Several pieces of broccoli and several match sticks of carrots. Also asked for some chili oil. They have no red chili oil. They also charge extra for chili oil. My daughter asked for some extra bean sprouts for the pho but never received it. Service was decent but the food was not very tasty. Expected more for stir fry like actual vegetables and not just cabbage. I did speak with possibly the owners wife and she just said she was sorry but that's how it's made. Definitely would not order this again. Oolong fills a much needed Asian fusion fix in downtown Dubuque. With ramen, pho and some curry options, they have a good variety of entrees to choose from. They also offer some unique appetizers. My boyfriend and I absolutely love gyozas and must try them if they're on a menu. They had a very Midwest inspired dumpling that was filled with eggs, bacon and cheese, served with a side of garlic cheese sauce and a chipotle maple sauce. Not at all traditional, it was tasty and would probably help some of the less adventurous eaters feel like they are stepping out of their Midwest comfort food zone without straying too far. And that cheese sauce that the dumplings came with was so garlicky and delicious! For entrees, we both got pho. If you are not a sprouts fan like myself, ask for them on the side. All of the other fixings they put on the side. I will admit that the price is a bit steep at $13 a bowl. I can get the same amount for around $9- $11 anywhere in San Diego. BUT, it was a very big portion and will fill anyone up. After speaking with the owner, who is so kind, he also explained how difficult it is to get a lot of the restaurant's ingredients nearby. He travels to Madison to purchase many items which makes the price more understandable and makes me appreciate the dedication of the business so much more. The owner is so passionate about the food and the experience of coming into his restaurant. You can tell that he thought about every detail for the decor. The plates, silverware, lighting - it's all so esthetically pleasing to the eye and builds on the dinner experience. Dubuque needs more restaurants like Oolong. read more

The waitress was friendly and attentive, even though we did not get appetizers or beverages which sometimes elicits a subtle negative reaction from waitstaff but did not here. Ambiance is pleasant with booths and tables. Technically handicapped accessible but furniture seems too crowded to comfortably maneuver a wheelchair. I was in Dubuque for work and found this cute place close to my hotel. While there aren't a ton of menu items, the selections they do have all look delicious. There are options for gluten sensitive and vegan customers. I had the Thai red curry with chicken, and it was delicious. I have never had curry with Brussels sprouts in it, and I can't figure out why it isn't a more common offering. They soak up the curry like a sponge but manage to still taste buttery and fresh. The dish is served with Jasmine rice and at $13 doesn't break the bank. There's a lot of great places to eat in Dubuque, but this one stands out for a fun ambiance and great food! read more

Highly recommend this well decorated downtown restaurant and these dishes: Sriracha dumplings (I always get them pan fried, for the best flavor) Bao buns with pork belly are so fresh and can be a full meal or an appetizer. Red curry soup doesn't need any meat or tofu, it's plenty filling as it is. I prefer to order it with the chewier ramen noodles as a substitute for the rice noodles. Oolong is a cute little Thia/Vietnamese/infusion place downtown Dubuque. When i say small they have about 10 tables and room for 50. Their food was very fresh and very good flavor. Whenever a new restaurant pops up in Dubuque, I must try it. When so stopped into soplón on Saturday, they had been open 4 days and the menu was just a sample of what they're working to put together a full menu. Oolong is in a fantastic location and the restaurant has fantastic natural light. The seating layout is a better for small groups of 4 people max, as larger groups may have a difficult time being seated immediately. When it came to the food, I will admit I had higher expectations. The vegetarian spring rolls were more like fried egg rolls with not much in them, and the had no fresh options, everything seemed fried. My mother and I ordered the basil stir fry with tofu and the ramen. I did like the basil stir fry, but the presentation wasn't there. The ramen seemed okay but from what I tasted, it reminded me a bit of chicken noodle soup, which may have had to do with the broth. As much as I wanted to like this place, it was underwhelming. I would still like to visit again once they've been open a bit longer and have released a full menu. read more
