I came with two friends for their AYCE dinner option ($30/person) and it did not disappoint. Every roll was made fresh to order and packed with flavor. The quality is as good as you'll find for an AYCE restaurant, especially in a landlocked state. My personal favorites were the Ichiban roll and the Tuna Lover roll. We topped off the sushi with a few fried Oreos and a few scoops of ice cream and were delightfully stuffed. The atmosphere was clean and inviting. Our server was very attentive, sincere, and even showed off a few tricks after we paid our bill. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. We will absolutely be back!

I have only gotten carry-out here, but the vibes for dining inside are good. I call to order carry-out and the process is always smooth and the food is available in about 15 minutes during lunch time. I got the beef udon, which was really good and a lot of food. I ended up having it for 2 lunches. I got the spicy crab roll, which I didn't realize was just imitation crab in the roll, so the next time I ordered the Waikiki roll and it had more on it and was really good. I am just not a huge fan of the imitation crab vibe tho. We also got miso soup which is good, and the chicken teriyaki appetizer was good and came with 3 prongs of chicken.

You can take the girl out of the beach but you can't take away her hankering for seafood. So I'm always on the hunt for some good seafood and sushi sometimes is just the right way to satisfy that craving. We decided to get takeout to try out this new sushi spot in North Liberty. We order some sushi rolls and nigiri. The fish seemed to be good quality but I was not very impressed with the tuna nigiri which is one fish I really look forward to from a sushi spot. Overall I enjoyed most of what we got and would go back. I must admit sushi takeout from this new North Liberty restaurant hits the spot.

First impression when walking in was nice, clean place and the hostess was kind. There was a group of 3 of us dining there during a weekday evening. Fairly busy. Two of us showed up early and the server (who knew we were waiting for a 3rd person) asked us 3 times if we were ready to order....unfortunately, he was a server that made us feel rush most of the evening. The food though was really good! Although I know a lot of people go for the all you can eat, we just went ahead and ordered off the regular menu. I should say, this was the first time at an Izumi (even though there is one in CR) for all of us dining). We had appetizers, one of us tried the hibachi, and we also had rolls. Delicious! Would go back & recommend!

    All you can eat sushi

Andy was an absolutely fantastic waiter and made the entire experience so enjoyable. My friends did the AYCE sushi buffet, and he was more than happy to keep bringing out more food while recommending just the right amount so we wouldn't get charged for items we wouldn't finish. All the employees looked genuinely happy to be at work and were incredibly kind without hesitation. We would definitely return anytime!

We stopped at Izumi on Sunday afternoon after attending the theater in downtown Cedar Rapids. Our server Andy was WONDERFUL!! He explained to us about the All You Can Eat menu. He then went through their regular menu and left us to decide. He returned quickly with our drink order and took our appetizer order. We decided to order from the menu. One of our guests ordered the Hibachi chicken and shrimp; it was delicious. Two of us went with sushi rolls, miso soup and dumplings. Everything was so tasty and beautiful to the eye. We will DEFINITELY be back soon!!

Lost track of all our sashimi, rolls, etc. but my favorite was their tuna and any roll with all that perfect avocado come hungry for the AYCE $30 (so worth it for my appetite!) and IMO it's best to go with a small group or partner that's ready to try anything and share so you can try the most and still eat it all! Our waiter was informative, polite, and attentive. Expect there to be a slight lag between rounds, especially if you order as much as we did, but if you're ready with your next sheet, they'll keep it coming! Overall, excellent experience and food for the NL/IC area and I've already gone back

After numerous people raving about this place, we decided to check it out. My husband LOVES sushi, and I was just happy there was a large menu that allows for a non-sushi eater like me to also find something tasty. We really liked the concept of the All You Can Eat dining style. It was a great way for us to try lots of different things off of their menu and find what we like most. I respect their efforts to keep people from wasting food, too. Charging people extra if they leave too much food uneaten is a good way to incentivize people to be mindful of their orders. We tried lots of different dishes, including a number of different rolls, fried rice, teriyaki chicken, hibachi shrimp, dumplings, and tempura chicken. The sushi was fairly average considering the sauces they were decorated with were excessive and overpowering. The hibachi shrimp was a bit "fishy", but the rice helped meld the flavor a bit. The dumplings and tempura chicken were my favorites. All in all, we didn't find anything on the menu that made us go "wow" or eager to go back. It seems like the place to go to if you are just interested in trying a bunch of different things without a craving for anything in specific.

We tried their snow-aged sake this time (yes, aged in snow for three years!) and it was incredible--smooth, clean, and unlike anything else you'll find around here. As always, the sashimi was fresh, beautifully plated, and melt-in-your-mouth good. We mentioned we were celebrating a special event, and they surprised us with the cutest orange "bear" fruit carving. It's that kind of thoughtful, personal touch that makes this place unforgettable. I can never resist their Taiwanese popcorn chicken--crispy, tender, and packed with flavor--and the Three Cup Chicken tasted incredibly authentic. You can really tell this place is run by owners who care about getting it right, both in taste and presentation. Warm ambiance, kind service, and dishes that actually taste like home--Sushiya is a rare gem in the Midwest.

Sushiya, on the other hand, is the go-to spot. The flavors here are superior in every way. The seating inside is limited, but you can watch the sushi chefs working on the line, which is fun to see. It's clear they handle a lot of online orders because they were constantly busy. There's also a kitchen in the back for cooked dishes, though it's not visible from the dining area. Everything we tried was delicious, and I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. I especially enjoyed the lunch portion of the Katsu Don--it had a lot of onions, but I didn't mind. I did ask for extra spicy mayo for my two deep-fried sushi rolls, as they were a bit bland on their own. The spicy mayo seemed house-made, with far more spices than I've seen at other sushi restaurants, and it was genuinely spicy, which was a nice surprise. The restaurant itself was quiet, aside from my best friend's child having a little meltdown at the end of the meal when his food wasn't coming fast enough. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'd happily return.
