We've stopped at this store a few times. They have a hit-and-miss selection. Some consoles they have lots. Others very sparse. Every time we've shopped here, the staff couldn't have cared less that we were in the store. Very off putting, as most retro game shops are super friendly. The store is a bit dingy and could use a good cleaning. That said, we have found some cool titles here. One nice touch is a list of games with which consoles they are backward compatible with on the racks. Not our favorite shop, but worth checking out. read more

Ok, soooo, I went in here as a spur of the moment thing in my way home from ihop. I wanted to see if they had any good old games or any good new ones for my "Switch." Well, they had both. A decent selection of old-school games,but very expensive in my opinion. I ended up buying a green,squid purse (Splatoon-A Nintendo Switch Game thing) & an old ,first Nintendo "GALAGA" game which was always my favorite arcade game (next to PHOENIX) I believe I paid $17.99 & I consider that a lot because it's so old & for a system not really sold anymore. The kid said the games aren't even tested when they come in,which is pretty messed up. Luckily, I played mine that night & it worked fine. This is THE place for gamers. They have at least twenty diffierent consoles. They have a large collection of older games, such as SNES. They guarantee their games and consoles to work, so you can always bring them back in if there's a problem. Plus, they sell the FC Twin Classic Console, which is a modern system that can play NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis games. Not only is this the place to buy games, you can also sell or trade in your old ones. Their prices are about the same as I've seen for other used games stores. The place is clean, so if you're purchasing older cartridge games, you don't have to worry about them being dirty. But they have a lot of games for new consoles too, (XBOX 360 and Playstation 3). I'm just impressed at the collection they had for old games. While they won't have hard-to-get games like Earthbound you can still find other decent games. Oogie Games also sells a lot of video game merchandise that are not actual games. I'm talking Donkey Kong plushies, Mario keychains, and various Nintendo related candies. So drop on by when you need a video game fix. It's also a fun place just to browse. I like looking at old consoles. read more

I'm solely writing about birthday parties here since I don't actually own any game consoles. We had an amazing time here! I got an online deal for a three-hour party. I thought it would be a really unique party for my birthday- yep, all adults! The staff was amazingly nice and beyond accommodating. They let us make a list of games we wanted, made suggestions for us, knew all about the games, and even found the ones we had on our wishlist. Basically, you can play any of the games in the store, and there's 6-7 different systems to use. There are 8 screens in the party room so at least 16 people can play at a time, or up to 20 if you have something that allows 3-4 players, like the wii. Our party assistant Nate was super helpful and was right there whenever we needed him - to switch out games or explain how things worked on the games. We called 3 hours before the party and added a second pizza, and they were still able to include it in the order, so that was really helpful too. Everyone had an amazing time and were really happy we tried this! Definitely a fun grown-up birthday option! read more

I really try not to give 1 star reviews but this was just a terrible experience from the start. I went in to buy a new Xbox One controller yesterday and was told they only had a few used ones that have been tested and guaranteed to work. First off, they charge 54 dollars for a used controller that costs 59 brand new. I figured I was already there, so I'd give it a shot. I got home and went to scroll up and the left toggle stick did not stick, but it kept scrolling up and down repeatedly - no big deal. Went back to the store for a refund and was actually convinced to give another used controller a shot. Got home and the toggle stick on this one was defective too. By the time I was able to get home and test the second controller out, the store was closed so I had to wait until just now to return it. This time I just wanted a refund. Went in at 10 this morning and got crazy attitude from this short woman who works there. I told her the problem and that I just wanted a refund. She asked me to explain the problem I was having, so I did and she went back to test it out (which they should do a lot more carefully before they buy these things) on her way to the back room I heard her mumble something under her breath. She then came back and acted like I was lying about the controller being bad - BUT she tells me that she was going to refund me anyways because SHE CAN STILL SELL THE CONTROLLER TO SOMEONE ELSE and that I was probably being picky. I grabbed my money and thanked her for returning it and she just stared at me and didn't say you're welcome or anything. Went straight to gamestop and bought a new controller that works great. People like this should stay the hell away from customer service. In the end, I honestly tried to give the small business a shot. It's a shame that people like that can ruin a simple transaction and a company's reputation. Won't be back read more

I had my son's 11th birthday party here. In the back of the game store they have a gamer room with dim blue lighting & about 8 flat screens TV's hooked up with every video game console you can think of. Connected is a separate room to have pizza and cake (they have a pizza & pop special through just pizza) Enough to keep 15 6th graders busy for 3 hours, Overall a great concept! Unfortunately, I did not visit the store before booking the birthday. This store is absolutely filthy. When I walked in the store the first thing I noticed was that it looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months. My mom asked the workers about it and she ended up vacuuming it herself. It was mentioned there were two parties before us and I'm pretty understanding but it was obvious the place is never cleaned. The chairs were stained and sticky. The bathroom was ATROCIOUS and there were dead flies all over the back hallway (where you have to walk to get to the restrooms). It was embarrassing. The employees were nice enough guys but not very accommodating and pretty unorganized. I would suggest hiring a cleaning company for a good deep cleaning, update falling apart furniture, and invest in a sound system. read more

Man I`ve been coming to Oogie Games since I`d say 2014.. In the beginning it was great with lots of variety of retro games to newer games and always doing sales or some sort of deal to keep you coming back to each of their multiple locations. But now this place went right down the tubes and I`m actually bummed.. I walked into the store today and it looked in complete disarray. games were thrown around everywhere even on the floor. no organization or alphabetizing at all. Or anything new to look at. I was here a few months ago and it looked the same exact way. It looks like the owner stopped caring or just hasn't been to this Tonawanda, Sheridan Dr. location in quite some time... Oogie Games is a great locally owned game shop. They have everything from retro to the latest games and consoles. I came here specifically for a few birthday gifts for my boyfriend and the employee Dan was super helpful. He was very thoughtful and answered all questions I had. He let me know about the great deals being offered and helped save me a few bucks! Very awesome customer service. That alone makes me want to shop here again. Thanks for everything! And if they can't help you out, they gladly point you to other potential game stores to help you find exactly what you're looking for. I have always appreciated local businesses, but unfortunately I've run into one rotten apple with Oogie games. My son bought a used controller and the following day it was no longer working. When he came in and asked for a refund or store credit they replied with "we're sorry but because you don't have the receipt there's nothing we can do". This is not the personal touch that we deserve when choosing to go to the local store over the more repeatable and better managed retail store. This problem could have easily been fixed and both parties would have been happy, but instead the management chose to lose a customer. I hope this serves as a wake up call.. read more

Had my 360 fixed last summer. I play about 30-45 min once a week, if that. Last week the rrod came back. I went to JDL communication and for $30 they fixed it properly. For the $80 I paid oogie, there was 8 pennies in my machine. The guy there said that he has lots of pics of 360s that was fixed by oogie (oogie sticker on console) with 8 pennies. Is that a f@*#ing joke??? And just like gamestop, their used games (current titles) is $5 less than new. read more

No-Service Repair Service Dropped off my kid's PS3 at the Eastern Hills Mall location on 5/30 to have the HDMI port repaired. Was told it would take 1-2 weeks. Called customer service number on 6/15 and left message. Heard nothing. Called again on 6/16 and left message. Heard nothing. Visited store on 6/17 and was told manager would be in later and would call. Heard nothing. Called customer service number on 6/19 (today) and left message. Also called the extensions for "Brianna" and "Jamie," who are apparently the district managers or something, and left messages. That's 5 phone calls, with no one actually answering, and no one returning my messages. Oogie Games should realize people like me are throwing our business (money) their way because they're local, and not a national chain. I'll update this post if I ever arrive at a conclusion. UPDATE: I called customer service on 6/20 (yesterday) and someone picked up the phone. He checked, and told me the PS3 was at the store, ready for pickup. They had also spoken to my son at home, and explained that the machine had been misplaced somehow. I picked up the machine at the store last night, brought it home, and my kid immediately put it to work. The repair has apparently been made, and the machine is working. That was my experience. Judge for yourself. PS: Just want to add this personal opinion: If I were part of Oogie Games management and saw a problem like this going on, I would have picked up the phone and personally called the customer and made things right. It's called customer service. Making things right might have included a discount on the repair, a store credit, and/or something similar. None of these were offered, and in my case, they would have gone a long way to smoothing over a situation caused entirely by Oogie Games' inability to do its job. My opinion of the company has changed, and I'm not rooting as hard for them as I was. What that means in terms of business, we'll see, but it's all about customer service for me, and in this regard, Oogie Games blew it. read more

The service was not good at all. Dont bring vintage systems into an OOGIE GAMES if you want to leave with them in good condition when you leave. Selection was good but overprice for the most part. Not the place i'd go for new games such as xbox360 or ps3 in that aspect i'd go to gamestop seen as they give you a preorder and you get free downloadable content. Also in regards to repairing systems which they advertise... good luck with that they repair hardly anything and will just try to sell you a system they have laying around the shop. Great all around selection. Customer service is good. Prices are great. Staff have great suggestions and tips on interesting games. If the game you're looking for not at their store they'll call another store in the buffalo. I've been a gamer for a long time this one of the better shopping experiences... Sold a few games at a fair price was able to buy a new and used game on a newer system while trading with some of the older stuff I don't play anymore! They even fixed up one of my older games that had some scratches on it good as new! read more

As a loyal customer I'm going to say some positive things first. I love all of the game selections there, and appreciate a good local business. how ever recently I have gone to oogies to trade in some game consoles that I have had to get rid of. The first time a went there to do so, I had a guy with a cap on, and of short stature greet me with hostility. I was looking to sell a very old gameboy ds (fifteen years old). an right from the start the guy started going ham on the condition of the system. the system has a few yellow spots, and very tiny scratches. I was more disappointed by the pure condescension that I was getting, rather then the fact that I was unable to sell the system. I actually ended up crying because I felt like he was laughing at me. Now the second time I walked in and I was trying to trade my xbox 360 4g, and again met the same guy, this time before I even got to explain my self he up from started deducting the value of the system. I was trying to explain that I had the original controller at home and was willing to bring it on a different day, but he started really talking down to me. finally we got down to the id part of it, I decided that the money was more important then fighting him. but he was talking about scaning my id because of the serial number on the system, I got a little confused because I thought he was talking about my id. he then in a condicending way pointed at the xbox and said "that thing has a serial number" as if I knew nothing! I was ready to strangle him! all he needed to do was explain, and listen! I was not out to start a fight!. most other employees are kind and understanding, but this guy really mad me feel small. read more

Omgosh do not buy anything from this chain. We drove so far out of our way to go to this place to buy a ps2 and find multi player couch coop games for ps2. They said they only had used ps2 slims but that they are like new and tested well before they are sold. Then they assured me that the games we picked out were multi player coop games but if they weren't we could bring them back anytime within 30 days. So we drive 2 hours home and find out the ps2 was completely broken making a horrifying loud noise. And all but 1 of the games they sold us were NOT multi player coop and 1 of the games didn't work at all. So we called them back to let them know and the manager had such a total attitude. He reluctantly said we could come bring it back and return them all. So we drove 2 hours back out there to return them and that same manager said oh I've decided that you can't return the games. The really nice worker that was also standing there said I'll take care of these people and the manager reluctantly left. Then that guy was really nice and took the games and the system back and at least gave us store credit. However, they didn't have a single multi player game in their store so he sent us to a different one. We drove all the way to that one and they didn't have much of anything either but said one of their other stores did have more and we should drive there to get games there. We did get 2 games from that guy. Both, he assured us were multi player story mode that we could play together at the same time. One of them had scratches all over it so I said oh never mind but he insisted that he could buff them out in a machine, which he did. Then he sent us to another store and told us that they would be able to swap that game for one that didn't have any scratches. So on we go to drive to store number 3. This store had NOTHING, the worst one yet. They didn't even have one to replace the scratched one so, since the guy insisted it wasn't a damaging type of scratch we just took it. We drove all the way back home and OF COURSE the scratched one doesn't work at all and the one that they said was a rare multi player game that we paid a lot for IS NOT multi player. You can only have the option to take over the actions of the character if you want by handing the other person your controller. HOW IS THAT IN THE SLIGHTEST BIT MULTI PLAYER????? Now we are stuck with $80 of credit to the crappiest store on the planet that sells nothing of value and has the worst customer service imaginable. Also, while we were there some other guy came in and wanted to return a game that was still sealed in it's original wrapper that he had just gotten and the guy wouldn't allow him to return it so he stormed out. How does this place stay in business this way? read more
