I did find a few albums that I had been hunting for and was happy to get them. I was; however, disappointed that they accept PayPal as payment and no credit cards. Payment terms are not clearly marked or advertised until you walk up to the "counter" and see a small sign asking you to pay via PayPal using a QR code. I don't like this at all. Get a Square and accept credit cards. I ended up paying cash and was on my way. Probably won't be back due to the payment thing unless I see it clearly marked for my convenience next time I roll by.

Pricing is overall fair and market value. Owners are very knowledgeable and passionate about the music. Parking is limited with a restricted private residential lot and private church lot. During the week I usually would park in the church lot since it isn't open. Compared to other area shops, this is near the top in terms of quality vintage selections. Having read about Doris Records online before my trip to Buffalo--that they've been around since…read more'62 and sell jazz, blues, hip-hop, R&B, gospel, etc.--I was pretty excited to check this place out, along with some of the other record stores in town. When I finally got there I was a little surprised to find out that Doris Records doesn't actually sell any records at all, though they had in the past. They do have a pretty big selection of CDs though, so I figured I'd look around for a bit. Eventually I found a great collection of gospel music from the '50s and '60s by Swan Silvertones, which made a major contribution to the musical soundtrack of my road trip around the state over the next few weeks. I don't know if it's ever been part of their plan, but it would be awesome if this shop had a few bins of used vinyl for sale. I bet they'd get people bringing in some pretty incredible stuff. And then the name of the store would make more sense too. It also wouldn't hurt to be a little bit friendlier to the folks who drop in. I'm not the type that needs to be coddled at all, but I was the only customer in the store, and I got the impression that they really wished that I would hurry up and leave. But you know, they've been around since 1962, so they must be doing something right.
