Stepping into Hyatt's Classic Video is a throwback of the most awesome kind. There aren't many…read moreplaces like this left, and this one is most definitely a treasure. When I visit this store, it's like I'm in middle school again, and it's a Friday night, and I get to pick out a movie or two to stay up late and watch. It's TOTALLY a nostalgia thing. Most of the stock is in VHS (which is amazing in and of itself, especially in this day and age) but there are some DVDs too. This is my most favourite place in Rochester to rent those old, hard-to-find titles (some of which never even came out on DVD!) And the display setup they've got going there makes any film/media geek drool. It's not every day you get to see a LaserDisc player up close and personal. The owner is a great, personable guy and really interesting to talk to. The place wouldn't be what it is without him. If you want to relive the past and step into a time warp, check Hyatt's out, and rent a video or two while you're there. Someday places like this will all be gone...and yeah, I love netflix as much as the next person, but there is just something about the video rental store experience that you can't duplicate in watching a streaming video. We go here once every couple of months, at least, and whenever we can't find one of those old obscure movies we remember watching when we were young but can't find anywhere. When you can't even find it ONLINE...Hyatt's usually has it.

My kids come here for all of their "Gaming" needs. Lol (which is A Lot !!)…read more They're always pre-ordering games, so they are guaranteed getting the game as soon as it comes out. Their prices are pretty high for some things & other things, not too bad. There are a lot of "old school" things there that I like. All "early" Nintendo character items. (Cups, mugs, glasses, keychains,Christmas ornaments & much more) I also love buying anything Pokèmon. The employees at this location in the Target plaza on Delaware are very nice & knowledgable . They can answer just about any question about a game you're interested in.

It seems a lot of people have a love/hate relationship with Game Stop. I've been to a few locations in WNY and oddly enough didn't know this location was here as there is another Game Stop in the plaza on Delaware and Kenmore. Between the two, this is my preferred location. In my opinion I find the sales floor larger and less jumbled. I'm not much of a gamer I'm more of a collector so I tend to come in Funko Pop's, Star Wars, Pokemon, etc. This location has tons of stuff for people to browse. I've also sold and bought a few games back and this location, I'm not feeling swindled but then again I'm just trying to get rid of something I'm no longer using and will accept whatever I can get for it. I generally take the store credit to get more back and have the Power UP card which I believe gets you back a little more.

As a fan of Pokémon myself I know how expensive the hobby has become and how little is available due to scalpers clearing everywhere out. Luckily the man working let us know that they were trying to combat this with charging retail price for their cards unlike most places that mark them up by absurd prices. We then were able to actually purchase some packs and my nephew was ecstatic! It's places like this with employees who seem to actually care that keep my faith alive when it comes to this hobby. We will 1000% be coming back to support this store. They are amazing and so are the employees.

To be honest, I dislike going to EB Games now, since like 75% of their stores are just POP figures and merchandise, and they only sell the newest games with a sad selection of used games, nothing for older consoles, and an almost non-existent selection of DS/3DS games. But I always depend on Microplay to have a new, lesser known game I want in stock. They also have games for older consoles like N64, PS, PS2, and GC, and sometimes have cheaper prices on brand new games compared to other video game stores. Even if there's other game stores nearby, I always go out of my way to buy a game I want at Microplay, cause I REALLY don't want them to ever close down!
