If you're in the Buffalo area and are into MTG this is THE spot to go without a doubt. Friday…read morenights are always packed for Modern and Commander. The owner, Matt, is incredibly helpful and a great guy. Back when I first started playing Magic I went to a few other stores until I finally ended up here and Matt took the time to analyze my deck and recommend improvements. (worth mentioning he was NEVER pushy for me to buy any of the cards he recommended) After my first experience here, I never went to another store again and never will even though there's a lot that are closer to me. Beginner at Magic? Go ask for some help putting together you're first ever deck, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and is always happy to help out. Experienced Magic player? Definitely go to a game night here! Monday's are Casual Commander, Wednesday's are $5 entry Modern, and Friday nights for FNM are free entry Commander/Modern and it's always a huge turnout. For anyone who is interested in going to any of these, they're all at 6:30 PM. It's always a great time and the Dark Forest player base community is super friendly. Oh, and also worth mentioning that they also have an extensive amount of other games there! I know I got a little heavy on the MTG here.

I was skeptical that a little shop in North Tonawanda would even make the list but was very pleasantly surprised. The environment is welcoming, we were greeted as soon as we walked in. We perused the selection and got to talking about some different games with the guy working (who I'm assuming was an owner but I can't remember his name because I'm horrible with names). Even though they didn't have what we were looking for, we wound up getting the Uncanny X-Men Dice Masters game just from talking about it. He knew his shit but didn't make me feel dumb for not being familiar with everything before walking in the door. Also mentioned a couple board game events that take place there, which we definitely plan on checking out. Overall just a really great shop, I'm looking forward to going back again.

I was surprised at the good selection available at this small bookstore - I found some treasures in…read morethe sci-fi / fantasy section and have my eye on several others. They also have a nice selection of stickers and some other fun book-themed goods (mugs, candles, etc) so it's a nice place to find gifts for a book lover. This isn't a place to spend hours in but well worth a stop (especially if you are also checking out Rust Belt across the street). Pricing is decent and staff is friendly.

It's a very small store, and there are not as many books in stock as I am used to seeing in other used bookstores, but they are well organized (better than most used book stores) so it all balances out. I found a book of poetry by Billy Collins that I decided to buy, and continued browsing. A gentleman decided to engage the owner (the only employee there) in a protracted conversation about her store and the bookstore across the street, Rust Belt Books. The owner, apparently only too happy to talk about her store was so focused on talking to the guy who had already made his purchase that she never acknowledged me hovering around the front of the store waiting to make mine. I waited at least five minutes before finally putting my book back on the shelf. If you want to talk books and bookstores fine, but if you want to SELL books you need to pay better attention. Your store is not THAT great!
