After waiting 2-hour, I was finally called to the Infor desk to begin the process of renewing my license. I had all of the necessary paperwork and more. The staff member was a little short and said all you needed was your Enhanced Driver License, read the eye chart, and then come on the have your picture taken. As I was gathering my paperwork, etc. she said "Come over here for your picture". I proceeded to do so, but an older women stepped in front of me. I waited patiently for her to ask her question, and then the staff member said, just stand in front of the box. After taking my picture she handed me paperwork, and I ask do I sit and wait for my name to appear on the monitor as I just did for this step. Her response, but more so the look on her face was "yes, that's what you did before". My name appeared very quickly and I headed up to identified Station. The staff member checked my paperwork and asked where the card was for my eye exam. I stated that I had it done here and even pointed to the person who did it. He stated that she did not fill out the piece of paper and I needed to go back and get it. I went back and waited for her window to open. I relayed to her what I was told and she asked if I had an appointment. I explained what I was told and needed from her the form that she needed to sign off as to my eye examine that I just took with her. She said he can do it at the Station and there was no need to come to see her. When back the same station, and waited behind the person who was in front of me. Again, explained what I was told, and he rolled his eye and said okay, read the 1st line on the chart that I am holding, which I did. He then continued with the renewal process. I understand that it was close to closing and everyone probably wanted to hurry people along so they could go home, but they need to realized the basis for good customer service. As I was leaving the one Security Guard, who was so polite, said "Miss let me get the door for you and I hope you have a blessed night and rest of the week". There needs to be some level of training for the DMV Staff.

Let's be honest! Not many people are fans of the DMV. And most people have the same complaint,…read moreWAITING in line. But in my opinion, the problem isn't the bureaus we visit, it's the under staffing statewide of employees. I have heard this from employees themselves. I blame our government leaders and their budgeting!!! Once a year I have to take an annual DOT physical for my trucking license. I followed all the directions, from scan to Email. Then a week later I get a text I can't drive. So then it's phone calls, re-emailing, and a visit to the DMV. It's happened before. While on the phone yesterday with Albany, it was made clear how busy they are and so few employees in the commercial division. I think it's the entire DMV. I should have called Governor Cuomo ... LOL Anyways the woman in Albany told me that she "did" receive my DOT form, and she was sending it to processing. "Note" I had already done this a week ago, and received a receipt they received it. She did warn me to keep my new updated DOT form with me in the truck in case I get stopped. But as of this morning, both here at home, and the DMV, it still hasn't been processed. And it was almost made clear to me at this Irondequoit bureau that under staffing is bad within the entire DMV statewide.. I heard that there were only 2 or 3 people in the CDL division handling all of NYS, not good. The people who have always served me are good people at the DMV bureaus, the problem is with leadership, government in my opinion. They need more help...

The two ladies who helped us before we even got to the counter were so incredibly helpful, and polite and I wished I had gotten their names to thank them again. Service counter was fast and efficient (in DMV terms of course). Definitely the best DMV service I've ever received and we didn't even have an appointment.

Never in my life did I think I would give any sort of government office a five star rating, but I…read moreguess there's a first for everything. As far as DMV's go, this place is pretty awesome. They don't offer every service that's offered at the regular DMV, but do offer things such as license renewals, registrations, title transfers, and written permit tests. If you don't want to wait hours at the normal DMV, I'd highly recommend trying to make a stop here instead. I've been here twice now and both times I walked in, waited no more than five minutes and was being helped by someone. The first time, I came in to get my license renewed. They had me in and out in about 15 minutes, this includes getting a new photo taken for my license. The woman helping me even let me see the photo and "approve" of it, something I've never been offered before. Extremely nice though, because who wants an ugly picture stuck with them for 10 years. My most recent visit here was to transfer a title and register a new vehicle, and took under 30 minutes (filling out paperwork included). Both visits, everyone was super nice and helpful when it came to answering questions, which was definitely a pleasant change from visiting an overcrowded office where they want you out of their hair as quickly as possible. The only downside is that they do have pretty weird hours and are only open two days a week, but if you can fit it in it's definitely worth it.

Don't bother making a reservation. They ignore you and you have to wait on line anywayread more
