Great learning experience. Cornell has provided very informative faculty so you can ask as many questions as you want. They also have a huge collection of Lincoln & Gettysburg information, artwork, photographs, and memorabilia, including an original copy of the Gettysburg Address. I think that the other 4 copies are all owned by government, so it's pretty cool that Cornell has one. Olin Library in general is pretty cool. I really like the group meeting areas and Olin cafe. They have a great little play area for kids, too, so our weekly visit has turned into a several times a week visit to play and find new books and DVDs to borrow, and the librarians remember us. They're all super helpful and friendly. My little boy loves coming here. My only wish is that they would host a monthly (or weekly!! Daily?? ;)) sensory playtime like some libraries do occasionally. We love the community feel here though, and can't imagine not coming here now that we've started.

I love this library…read more It's such a great location-- right next to the canal for a study break, near cafes for good food and caffeine if you're pulling a full day of studying. The study rooms look out at the canal, providing a beautiful view. There's also a "reading garden" which is a cute little courtyard if patrons want to read or study in the sun. The librarians are all very nice and helpful, of course. I also enjoy participating in the summer reading program, since they have a program for any age group.

(And super close to Pittsford Dairy) I actually passed it initially as it looked more like an office building. I parked on the street but I'm 99% sure there is a lot behind the library. It's spacious, with a large hallway when you walk in displaying many used books for sale, as well as a free shelf. The "bookstore" is self serve with a cash box, and most I saw were priced at $1. Staff was friendly and helped me locate a book for my book club. This is an impressive looking library with 2 floors and big, sunny windows. If I had more time, it would have been a great place to spend an afternoon. I believe there is also an outdoor deck, but doubt that gets much traffic in January!

But also be aware that libraries have so much more these days. The Batavia branch has games you can borrow, stem kits for kids, a seed library! On top of that check out the events on their website or social media, they have so many free activities for adults and kids alike, from art activities to movie nights to so many more. We have been to paint nights for both adults and even my 1 year old, they had a cool baby race my daughter participated in, we gave been to trivia and always participate in their summer read program. The Fairport library is located in the Fairport Village Landing - a plaza with many other…read morebusinesses and shared parking. Take the stairwell or elevator to the ground floor to enter the library. Once you're inside, you'll forget you're in a retail plaza. This was my first time here and I noticed large sections for children and teens, a quiet room, a nice selection of foreign films, a whole shelf of Hallmark movies, five big shelves of large print books for those of us with bad eyesight, and a lot of comfy places to sit. You can even check out a tote bag to bring your items home! If you walk by the library on the canal side, you can see in to the cozy reading area where the windows are lined with books. This is a welcoming and well stocked library that I will definitely return to.

You get the charm of the original building paired with the modern beauty of the Bausch & Lomb structure both are worth seeing. The library offers a ton of programs for kids, teens, and adults. Becoming a cardholder is easy, and once you are, make sure you look into their VIP section, you can snag free or discounted tickets to local attractions. You can check out physical books, audiobooks, and ebooks, and they're great if you need computer access or printing. They also have plenty of study areas and quiet spots to get work done. Honestly, they offer more than most people realize (myself included until recently!). The only downside is parking and it can be a bit tricky. I'm not sure if they validate or offer any vouchers, so it's worth asking. I was lucky enough to find street parking... but yes, you do have to pay. A great library with so much to offer. Highly recommend exploring everything they provide.

A coloring station, a small play greenhouse to read in, and a "secret room" hidden behind a bookshelf, providing another quiet area to play or read. I particularly love the documentary film collections on DVDs. I don't have Netflix and amazon film services ... I don't have television cables either. I really don't need it. I really hope the public libraries like this will continue to thrive. Those DVDs educated me far more than anything I learned in grad schools. Seriously. I've been trying to checkout a state park pass from Library of Things ... it has not been successful. They told me that they only have 4 passes and 10 in the entire library system. I will keep trying! Maybe I will get lucky one day! Hey, I heard a public library in San Francisco has sewing machines! I would love a sewing and knitting/crocheting workshops here ...helping me give more fingers to the corporations by sewing my own underwears ... why not? Maybe you can cooperate with Sew Green to make it happen ... My only "complaint" is that I wish the purchase request process was more transparent .. i.e. if I could get a feedback from the librarian as to the possibility for the purchase of a particular item I want to borrow, and receiving a notification when the item is purchased ... that would be delightful ... but then I know that we can set the catalog search parameter to alert us to the items when it is cataloged in the library system, so no complaints ... Please keep up the wonderful work! The library is one of the best ways our tax money is put to use!
