You get the charm of the original building paired with the modern beauty of the Bausch & Lomb structure both are worth seeing. The library offers a ton of programs for kids, teens, and adults. Definitely check their website, because there's so much going on. Becoming a cardholder is easy, and once you are, make sure you look into their VIP section, you can snag free or discounted tickets to local attractions. You can check out physical books, audiobooks, and ebooks, and they're great if you need computer access or printing. They also have plenty of study areas and quiet spots to get work done. Honestly, they offer more than most people realize (myself included until recently!). The only downside is parking and it can be a bit tricky. I'm not sure if they validate or offer any vouchers, so it's worth asking. I was lucky enough to find street parking... but yes, you do have to pay. A great library with so much to offer. Highly recommend exploring everything they provide.

A coloring station, a small play greenhouse to read in, and a "secret room" hidden behind a bookshelf, providing another quiet area to play or read. That said, if that's the worst thing about the library, that's pretty damn good. I hadn't been to the Henrietta branch since before they moved into their current building, but was I ever impressed! The new building is spacious and has plenty of seating. There's a big meeting room right by the entrance, where I've early voted, so there's lots of room to spread out. In spite of the collection feeling a little older, you know what's really great? No hold fees! I think we're going to see more and more branches do away with hold fees in the future, which helps make reserving materials that much easier. I have found some hidden gems sprinkled throughout the shelves. I think the key here is that the library can only do so much work for you, you have to also put in the effort to find what you never realized you wanted in the first place. I've found a bunch of random books this way. Being a larger branch in a town the size that Henrietta is, the library has good hours, including on Saturdays. I get why some branches are hardly ever open, having some weekend availability is just a nice bonus. I'm glad the town of Henrietta has a library like the one they have. I'll definitely be back (being the library hopper that I am, this was a given). Now if only I could reach the book drop from my car without straining my arms!

The first floor is one of the best places a parent can bring their child. I've never seen a whole floor dedicated to children before!! Most other libraries just have a small section and feel darker and older. There's story time at 10 am everyday. There's a lot of toys and books for toddlers and babies to wear out their energy for an hour or so. The upstairs section is also very nice for adults with a room to rent and also plenty of shelves. Staff are nice and there's a little book store selling hard copies for 1$ and soft cover for 0.25. I tend to buy those for vacations so I won't feel bad losing a book. The bright modern interior also makes one want to stay here and read or spend a day. The books are all in really condition too. Very few old musty books. The library is also right by the park with a large playground and field My only thing I dont love is that the adult section books are organized in a confusing way. I usually reserve books online bc browsing for a specific author may not be intuitive since the shelves have mystery, fiction, romance, etc designations.

I love this library…read more It's such a great location-- right next to the canal for a study break, near cafes for good food and caffeine if you're pulling a full day of studying. The study rooms look out at the canal, providing a beautiful view. There's also a "reading garden" which is a cute little courtyard if patrons want to read or study in the sun. The librarians are all very nice and helpful, of course. I also enjoy participating in the summer reading program, since they have a program for any age group.

(And super close to Pittsford Dairy) I actually passed it initially as it looked more like an office building. I parked on the street but I'm 99% sure there is a lot behind the library. It's spacious, with a large hallway when you walk in displaying many used books for sale, as well as a free shelf. The "bookstore" is self serve with a cash box, and most I saw were priced at $1. Staff was friendly and helped me locate a book for my book club. This is an impressive looking library with 2 floors and big, sunny windows. If I had more time, it would have been a great place to spend an afternoon. I believe there is also an outdoor deck, but doubt that gets much traffic in January!

Games and DVDS/Blurays), but it's also good to explore the libraries around here.

Take the stairwell or elevator to the ground floor to enter the library. Once you're inside, you'll forget you're in a retail plaza. This was my first time here and I noticed large sections for children and teens, a quiet room, a nice selection of foreign films, a whole shelf of Hallmark movies, five big shelves of large print books for those of us with bad eyesight, and a lot of comfy places to sit. You can even check out a tote bag to bring your items home! If you walk by the library on the canal side, you can see in to the cozy reading area where the windows are lined with books. This is a welcoming and well stocked library that I will definitely return to.

This is after being closed for 3 days over the Labor Day weekend. The first staff member I encountered was a hefty woman of about 350 or more pounds, with long brown hair. I explained that I had a final technical interview at 10am and my apartment was a construction site, and that I wanted to know if I could use a private room for my interview. She escorted me to what was essentially an open cubicle area. I explained that I was interested in a private room. She made it clear that even though the private rooms were empty I could not use one, unless it was an open community meeting or something like that... I said, I would just use the Quiet Study area, and I expressed my dismay that this library did not have any private rooms available. (Even Livonia Public Library has private rooms available.) Later, the same hefty woman came into the Quiet Study room to offer me a comment card, which I took and thanked her for. To recap: to spite telling the woman that I had a final technical interview, she interrupted me in the Quiet Study room to provide an unrequested comment card. Then things got worse. Shortly after being interrupted by the hefty woman, two other women came into the Quiet Study room and accosted me. One of these women had a large-print name badge stating her name as Cathy Henderson. She did not say good morning, made zero attempts at professional common courtesy and attacked me verbally. The women aggressively approached me and informed me that the Quiet Study was not a place for a meeting. By this point, I got very upset that two more library employees thought it was appropriate to come into the Quiet Study area to do nothing more than to harass me. They were not there to help, or to offer assistance. They were there to provoke, bully and instigate. Is that how librarians are supposed to behave towards patrons? The excuse given by Cathy, who was petty, stupid and childish -- as opposed to professional and mature -- was to hand me a sheet with the Code of Conduct. I had had zero interactions with her or her partner! In fact, I had not talked to these women at all. I was the only person present. Why were they sent to bother me in the Quiet Study area, if not to start trouble? And did the rotund brown-haired woman send them over for that purpose? Seems like that is exactly what happened here. These women sought me out, to harass me. I explained to Cathy with a "C", that I would postpone my meeting. She absolutely was intent on arguing and provoking because instead of leaving the Quiet Study area after handing me the Code of Conduct, she proceeded to verbally harass me with threats on what would happen "if she saw me using the Quiet Study area for a meeting" -- are you kidding me?? Not only was I the only person in the area, I had already explained that I was going to request my interview be postponed, yet Cathy continued to repeat everything she had just said! I was astonished and said Do you mind? Do you mind if I get on with my work? Both Cathy and the other woman (Claire?) continued to stand there threatening me! At a public library! I have never been treated with such unprofessional hostility by someone claiming to be a librarian in a public library. These women belong in retail, or any place where petty, small-minded argumentative people thrive. Will I visit this library ever again? Not a chance. Your staff are barely veiled vulgar trash who do not deserve the title or position of librarian. AND THIS IN A NUTSHELL IS THE PROBLEM WITH ROCHESTER -- AND AMERICA -- DIM-WITTED, UNEDUCATED, VULGAR PEOPLE RUNNING THINGS THAT SHOULD NOT BE SEEN OR HEARD. Boycott this vulgar library. Side point: if you have trouble finding a title by it's library index number, it is not you. It is the brain-dead petty staff.

Near the circulation desk, there's new books, large print, kids section and community updates/activities. Very spacious with some tables and chairs to check out books and work. Monroe Branch is cozy with big windows, and interesting design details (check out some of the cornices). I would do crazy things to have that spider web mirror in my house! There is a teen section, a "take a book, leave a book" shelf, a mini food pantry for those in need, and even a huge rack of Hallmark movies. All the basics like computers with internet access. They have a good selection of audio books, but I'd prefer if they were organized by fiction and non-fiction. Due to its smaller size, it may not be the best place for quiet study. But they make the most of the space with lots of materials, a helpful staff, and a homey atmosphere.
