Underground parking very convenient when it's cold

Brought my grandson here and was pleasantly surprised at how many things there are to do in the library for two-year-olds! They had a great train set that was wooden and even though there must've been thousands of kids that played with it it was in great shape! They also had magnetic puzzles that even a two-year-old can do! One of the better attributes of this library is a fact that they have underground parking which I was very happy to know because it was snowing and very cold and wet! The entrance to the library is a short distance from the underground parking area! There are also many shops , although I was tempted it was nap time! Next time however

The Fairport Library has always been a great public establishment that offers the most current books, cd's and DVD's to take out on loan. This library offers approximately 8 computers for patrons usage. The library can get pretty cold, not sure since it was still cold outside if or why they would have the air conditioning on but it was really cold while sitting down and doing some work at one of the computer stations. Parking is plentiful. Located either in front of the library or they also have an underground free parking garage which is very convenient in relation to the library entrance and in the winter keeps your car nice and dry! Very clean inside and staff are always willing to help in anyway possible.

I am in the Fairport Library at least once a week, and it is one of our favorite places to spend time. The children's librarians are all so welcoming and helpful. The rotating interactive station the librarians set up in the back of the children's section is always amazingly creative and fun for the kids to check out. They recently have loved the space theme and the pet vet theme. We attend story time (we especially love PJ Storytime on Monday nights), LEGO Club, and Kindness Club regularly. We used to attend Toddler Time and the Dance Party on a regular basis, but my kids are getting a little old for those. They are amazing opportunities for people with young toddlers and babies! There are super fun annual events too, like the Doll Tea Party and Noon Year's Bingo. The bathrooms near the community room and in the children's section are both clean and accessible and I love that they have a water bottle filler station for use in the hallway. The regular part of the library has many sections to fit anyone's needs. There is a teen room, a quiet room, and ample working and reading space throughout the stacks. The Fairport library is a hreat place to read and work!

I'd visit the Fairport Library anyway, since it's a good one, convenient, and plays to my library hopper tendencies.

You get the charm of the original building paired with the modern beauty of the Bausch & Lomb structure both are worth seeing. The library offers a ton of programs for kids, teens, and adults. Definitely check their website, because there's so much going on. Becoming a cardholder is easy, and once you are, make sure you look into their VIP section, you can snag free or discounted tickets to local attractions. You can check out physical books, audiobooks, and ebooks, and they're great if you need computer access or printing. They also have plenty of study areas and quiet spots to get work done. Honestly, they offer more than most people realize (myself included until recently!). The only downside is parking and it can be a bit tricky. I'm not sure if they validate or offer any vouchers, so it's worth asking. I was lucky enough to find street parking... but yes, you do have to pay. A great library with so much to offer. Highly recommend exploring everything they provide.

The children's section was large with lots of books and plenty of activities. A coloring station, a small play greenhouse to read in, and a "secret room" hidden behind a bookshelf, providing another quiet area to play or read. Children's section had its own bathrooms, with child-sized fixtures, which was convenient.

This is my childhood library, so every visit has a fair amount of rose colored nostalgia. But as an…read moreadult, I continued to patronize Brighton and will continue to do so. Sometimes, when I walk in, I still see the old layout from before the 90s era renovation, which tells you how much time I spent here. But I'd still do it in a minute. It was in the children's space where I truly became a reader. I'm happy to report that the children's space is still as magical as it was upwards of 30 years ago. I still like looking around for the newest in so-called juvenile fiction (which can be more daring and brave than "adult" fiction, but that's a rant for another day). At one time, BML had a book with a plate in it celebrating my completion of the summer reading program, and I made a point to check it out to keep its circulation statistics boosted. Alas, that book has since been weeded out, but a picture of a bookplate is forever. Brighton's collection is decent sized, definitely one of the larger ones in the area. When you walk in, new releases are in the room to your right. What I really like is the shelf near the entrance featuring award winners, popular titles, and things you may have missed the first time around. It's a great way to find something new. There are plenty of tables to get work done at, and small study rooms are available. A good library should have a mix of quiet and a low roar, and BML has that in droves. I will continue to utilize Brighton Memorial Library for as long as I am able to. In a world full of ebooks, sometimes you just need a physical copy, and there's nothing like going to your childhood library to grab a book.

That said, if that's the worst thing about the library, that's pretty damn good. I hadn't been to the Henrietta branch since before they moved into their current building, but was I ever impressed! The new building is spacious and has plenty of seating. There's a big meeting room right by the entrance, where I've early voted, so there's lots of room to spread out. In spite of the collection feeling a little older, you know what's really great? No hold fees! I think we're going to see more and more branches do away with hold fees in the future, which helps make reserving materials that much easier. I have found some hidden gems sprinkled throughout the shelves. I think the key here is that the library can only do so much work for you, you have to also put in the effort to find what you never realized you wanted in the first place. I've found a bunch of random books this way. Being a larger branch in a town the size that Henrietta is, the library has good hours, including on Saturdays. I get why some branches are hardly ever open, having some weekend availability is just a nice bonus. I'm glad the town of Henrietta has a library like the one they have. I'll definitely be back (being the library hopper that I am, this was a given). Now if only I could reach the book drop from my car without straining my arms!

The first floor is one of the best places a parent can bring their child. I've never seen a whole floor dedicated to children before!! Most other libraries just have a small section and feel darker and older. There's story time at 10 am everyday. There's a lot of toys and books for toddlers and babies to wear out their energy for an hour or so. The upstairs section is also very nice for adults with a room to rent and also plenty of shelves. Staff are nice and there's a little book store selling hard copies for 1$ and soft cover for 0.25. I tend to buy those for vacations so I won't feel bad losing a book. The bright modern interior also makes one want to stay here and read or spend a day. The books are all in really condition too. Very few old musty books. The library is also right by the park with a large playground and field My only thing I dont love is that the adult section books are organized in a confusing way. I usually reserve books online bc browsing for a specific author may not be intuitive since the shelves have mystery, fiction, romance, etc designations.
