The vast majority of my trips to the Pittsford Library are post-renovation. But as far as I'm concerned, even though this wasn't my childhood library, it might as well have been with how often I go as an adult.
The Pittsford Library is easy to get to once you're in the village proper. Even better, there's a big public parking lot behind the building. Sometimes it's completely packed, but there's always somewhere to park. The book return is walk up only, but you can't miss it from the parking lot side.
My favorite aspect of the collection is how new and extensive it is. In addition to having many of the newest releases, I've been able to find just about every older book I've needed to find. Nine times out of ten, when I'm looking for something that was just published, I find it as I walk in at Pittsford. After you're done perusing the new books, head upstairs for the rest of the general collections, including a big YA selection. Back downstairs, you'll find the children's room and collection, and the circulation desk. But don't forget the self checkout kiosk! Most libraries I've visited in Monroe County don't have that, so when it seems like the line to check out is way too long, it's good to have an alternative.
I'll definitely keep using the Pittsford Library when it's convenient, which luckily for me, is frequently convenient. You really can't beat the new release shelf. Grab the hottest title you can and a cup of something warm from Starbucks, and on a nice day, a place to sit looking over the canal and kick back for awhile. read more
