Onstage Dance Center has been my daughter's home away from home for the past 3 years. She started taking a Hip Hop rec class with Ms Yaz when she was in Kindergarten and she loved it! After that she became a part of the Competitive Company team and was a part of the Mini Hip Hop team for 2 years with Ms Jen. Over the past few years she has grown so much and has started other styles of dance including Jazz and Lyrical. She loves all her teachers and has fallen more in love with dance. Both my girls dance here. The teachers are Amazing, and they truly care for them; not only in their progress as a dancer but also as individuals. I love that the studio understands the importance of family time. My girls technique has improved since coming here and they have clear and objective goals, which the staff if aware and completely supports. The class sizes are manageable (I've seen huge classes other places), and I like that Friday schedule is minimal to allow for life balance. This is my girls second home. We live onstage. read more

First, I'll say this school has solid dancers in it - if your child is a good dancer, is wanting to do this in middle/high school, compete, etc; I do believe this school would be a good choice for you. If your child is starting out in dance, you are looking to get them "into" dance RUN FROM THIS PLACE AS FAST YOU CAN! They are HORRIBLE. Flat out the worst business I've dealt with regarding my kids outside school activities. So my daughter is 5 - she is horrible at dance - who cares, she is 5. The teachers there are not very patient with the younger kids - and they mix kids with 3 years of age gap, so when you get to 5 you are in class with 7 year olds...could be almost 8. So there is an obvious gap in just skill set and physical ability. Now, the only reason I pay this school any money for a 5 year old is to literally give her exposure to dance and to take cute photos at a recital with her dressed up to put on our xmas card or whatever...thats it. And I'd assume their mission as a dance business for a 5 year old would be relatively the same (overcharge for costumes, that I'm sure they get a cut of and charge every human being full price for a ticket to the recital, even my 2 year old --- all that is fine! And maybe the kids goes on to be a good dancer...maybe) My daughter has missed very few classes over the last semester - we have been there loyally and consistently which is half the battle . We come to find out last week, from the teacher that the school somehow decided, without us knowing, to pull my daughter from the recital b/c she just wasn't good enough...we found out b/c my daughter was at dance practice and all the girls got their costumes for the recital but her! She was the only one that didn't have it...and come to find out the teacher said, well its ok, b/c she isn't in the recital...we were surprised by this b/c no one ever told us about this, and the teacher said that is why there was no costume . Of course we go to admin and they said we never measured her for the costume and that she could go to the lower class (3-5 year olds) which she had been in for 2 years already and hadn't been learning that routine for the upcoming recital (but they said its fine, shell be good. Huh? How about just tell me you don't give a F*ck but you want my money The school never had any intentions of putting her in. The best part is when my wife confronted them, 1 of the admin tried to cover it up and the other 1 basically said she remembered them measuring her months ago for this, in front of them...and they were the ones who measured her...wtf?!? Not only was my daughter embarrassed , her self confidence was effected a bit - no biz should do that to a child...especially a biz focused on children. We pulled her because this school doesn't' deserve another penny from us and I hope everyone who reads this sends their young aspiring dancers elsewhere. Also, as other reviews have said - their teachers are meh - the instructor came up to my wife and flexed her Masters of Ballet as a something that would quality her to pull my 5 year old from a dance recital...I won't even say what I think about that... read more

So the story starts so long ago when my 2 little sisters started dancing with this group of incredible people (20+ years ago) at their Downey studio. Little did I know that I would be enrolling my little ones in dance one day too:) Naturally, this was my "go to" for a dance studio because it was familiar to me... I do not live near the studio though so it became hard for me to keep up with the drive and thought that a closer studio would be more conducive for our lives. We let our daughter try out other sports and activities that she wanted to and I even tried several different (well reviewed) dance studios in our area... Well our daughter decided she didn't want to play the other sports and other studios were such a disappointment! I dont say that because they didn't have great dancers or because they didn't have the skill to create a great dancer in my little one because they may have, but I couldn't find a studio with the "FULL PACKAGE". It was a disappointment because as a parent, you have so many expectations when enrolling your child in something and when you're use to a studio like Onstage and the way they run things, not much else compares... or nothing that I found anyway. From the dedicated staff that is there to make sure all of the kids are taken care of to how well organized every event, recital and even schedule is put together, Onstage Dance Center definitely has an awesome package! I absolutely love the energy that the teachers at our studio bring to our children... it's contageous and it can be seen by anyone that it's a passion for dancing that they share with our girls. They truly don't even make it look like work, they're incredible. Now I have 2 dancers dancing at Onstage and I am thrilled to say that they are growing in their passion for dance and doing it in such a healthy way. I don't care that we don't live nearby, I know that I'll be making the drive for years to come! read more

As an instructor to very young kids at any kind of school setting, there must be an understanding and skills that they must possess in nurturing these young kids. Acknowledging and validating these very young kids' warm, friendly, good-nature, yet simple greetings would be the least quality an instructor must have. Yet, that is not a quality that instructor, Ms. Yasmine, at Onstage Dance Center has or decides to show to my young kid. I have personally witnessed on multiple occasions where my kid greeted Ms. Yasmine with smiles, but Ms. Yasmine intentionally ignored my kid's friendly greeting by just looking at my kid with a "whatever" look and walked past my kid. It made me angry seeing my or any parent's very young kid receiving this kind of treatment. I was not going to continue to pay to see my kid getting treated this way. This place seems to be a popular place. So, I hope what my kid has experienced, and what I have experienced as a parent, will not happen to very young kids and other older kids there in the future. read more

This is an email we received from the owner because we made them aware that we wanted to pursue another studio in hopes of helping my daughter that suffers from anxiety. At no time did we bring down any of the teachers: I hope this email finds you well. I spoke to Miss Alicia and she mentioned that your family was unhappy at the studio. I am really sorry to hear that. I take pride in my staff and my teachers and I know that they are qualified, professional and doing a wonderful job. Both of my studios are growing and I believe that is a result of my amazing staff and their abilities. The teachers take pride in their dance routines, costumes, and of course their students. It is unfortunate that you are not happy. At this time, we feel it is best for both parties involved, if we part ways effective today, January 18, 2017. I will be mailing you a refund check for the last week of January classes. There are no refunds for the competitions. Since your dancer has already began training at another studio, you have already made the decision to not continue with ODC. It's so disappointing that even when parents try to do right by your teachers and your studio they get "slapped in the face." I was very clear with Ms. Alicia that we did not want to throw any teachers under the bus, nor was it really about your teachers. From the beginning, I made it very clear that this was about my daughter, but it seems that you are so self involved in yourself that you lack the ability to understand what a pair of caring parents tried to explain. Ms. Alicia seemed very understanding, and compassionate about the fact that change might be well for my daughter, while speaking to me, but maybe amongst yourselves her thoughts were different. It's very unfortunate that you chose to in essence kick my daughter and family out of your studio for simply trying to do whats best for my daughter and find the right fit for her at this point in time. She suffer from anxiety and since she felt she was not improving, we feared she would start crawling back into her shell which we have worked so hard to break. Also, just to clarify, my daughter took 3 trial classes at another studio, but at no time did we state she was training at another studio. Again, we are simply trying to do whats best for her, but nonetheless we wanted to do whats right by your studio and her team, which is why we wanted to finish the season. This is quite unfortunate. We really wished not to end this with any animosity, but based on this, and what I've heard from other parents, anyone that disagrees with your studio is treated with the same lack of courtesy and disrespect. Onstage Dance Center (ODC) is amazing. You have a choice to be in a competition group, recital group, or just a regular practice group. There are many different types of classes like jazz, ballet, lyrical, tap, tumbling, and more spectacular classes. ODC is for kids about 3 and up, so even the little ones can have fun. The dance instructors there are amazing and push you to become better dancers. I currently have Miss Megan as an instructor for a lyrical class and a contempary class and she really knows how to make kids happy. I also have is Miss Kelly and she knows how to push you how to become a better dancer. My third instructor is Mrs. Belinda. She knows how to be funny while knowing how to be a great person. I chose ODC a year ago and starting my second year. Its my second season and I have to say it is one of the best decisions I've ever made. read more

Absolutely LOVE this studio. My daughter started here when she was only two but only for a year. She grew to be a little soccer lover. At the age of 9, she showed interest in returning back to the dance world, Liz, the owner was always so supportive and encouraging, even when we were on a hiatus. After being back to the studio for about a year my daughter's passion grew as well as her techniques. She would practice her little heart out. She was soon invited to be a part of a competitive dance team. At that time, I could not commit to the schedule. Liz understood, and helped me come up with a plan to get her ready in the chance that things should change in the future. She placed Ella with the right teachers to support her in her growth and skills. Now at age 12, she was again invited to join a team, and since she is so passionate we decided to accept the invitation. My daughter is beyond excited. This would never had happened without the owner, as well as the amazingly supportive teachers who pushed her to be the dancer she is today. There is diversity in this studio as well. Brand new dancers all the way to extremely advanced and all are given the same attention. Some of her best friends go to this studio, but she has met so many other new kids there and have created new friendships I would definitely recommend this studio.
