Came to a trial class for a mom meet up. The atmosphere was perfect and just what I imagined. They were amazing hosts and we had an amazing instructor. Unfortunately the class was more tailored to toddlers (I brought my 9 month old) which I was told right before class. Hoping to try out a class for her age range soon! read more

We absolutely loved watching the performance! It was wonderful to see how much confidence our daughter has gained since joining Tutu School Long Beach. The teachers create such a warm, encouraging, and nurturing environment that helps children feel comfortable expressing themselves while learning ballet. We've seen tremendous growth not only in her dancing skills but also in her self-esteem, independence, and willingness to perform in front of others. My 3yr old started ballet here early this January with Ms Nix, and we love it my daughter enjoys the dancing the twirling and myself love how they break it down in terms they understand to get there attention and to better understand the ballet moves. We love Tutu School! My 3.5 yr old daughter joined in January and has loved going to Miss Kate's class on Monday mornings. The studio is cute, offers a lobby like area for parents to sit and enjoy watching their kids dance (and younger siblings run around) and feels upscale. Their membership package allows for make up classes, which is smart given that kids get sick often, so we can use the full extent of our membership each month. We love dancing at Tutu school! read more

Update: we continue to LOVE Tutu School! My six year old has grown so much confidence through her weekly classes here, and of course, she's learning ballet techniques and having so much fun. We had her 6th birthday party here and it was awesome! We can't thank Teacher Nix enough for being such a fun, energetic, encouraging and clear party host. My daughter attended a trial class a month ago and she loved it! This place is truly magical! The teachers are very sweet and amazing! My toddler enjoys her classes with Ms. Kate immensely! She is very sweet and great with kids! I love that she makes every class exciting. They use all kinds of teaching materials (bean bags, balls, magic wands, bubbles, flowers etc.,) that make ballet learning fun and enjoyable for kids. They also do story and coloring time at the end of the class. My toddler looks forward to going every week. The atmosphere is carefree and very welcoming. Parking can be challenging but we always find one on the street . We will definitely be coming back for more magic! read more

She makes sure to include every child in all the activities. She is so welcoming makes all the magic happen during their session. We LOVE coming to Tutu School. I bring both my girls age 2 and 4. We came here after leaving a dance studio that was not a good fit for us. We have been here almost a year and this is an excellent fit for us. Our teacher, Miss Kate is patient, kind, and very skilled. My daughter's love her and are always excited to come to ballet to see Miss Kate. The classes are very age appropriate, fun, and interactive. I love all the skills my girls are learning here and we are excited for our second recital. Our first recital experience here was excellent. I love love Tutu School Long Beach! Instructors work very well with the kids. I'm impressed with the flexibility of the make up sessions. All the staff I have encountered are all pretty sweet towards myself and my daughter. Miss Jade and Miss Kate are always welcoming and caring towards my daughter. My daughter has been attending ballet here for about a month and a half and we love it! I was glad I found this location close to home & in a great area. My daughter is 20 months now, but she started right at 18 months. I was glad to find a location that had classes for her age. First of all, it's the cutest little studio. When you walk in you immediately want to take pictures. It's very inviting and beautiful! They have books in the little waiting area and we appreciate that they are diverse & inclusive. Second, the teachers clearly love children. We've seen 2 teachers so far. They are both engaging and patient, but at the same time firm with the teaching of actual ballet. Third, the customer service has honestly been exceptional. Whenever I've had a question, they are quick to answer whether by email or in-person. Any staff member I've encountered has been kind and helpful. We look forward to more fun at Tutu School! read more

Our daughter loves to move and dance so we really wanted to get her enrolled in ballet to help with mobility and help structure her for her upcoming preschool enrollment. She has been enrolled since may and has learned so much in such a short amount of time. She looks forward to her lessons and says her favorite part is dancing with the teachers and the shakers. Tutu School was founded to reimagine how ballet could nurture creativity, confidence, and joy in even the littlest dancers. Today, Tutu School is a thriving community of over 100 boutique ballet studios, all rooted in the belief that dance is for everybody.

Meet the Business Owner: Tracy G.

Tracy has always loved the stage, having grown up performing in various plays and musical theater. She first discovered Tutu School in 2014, and knew her own community needed this special space where children can twirl carefree, too. This was the start of her journey opening Tutu School locations of her own! She loves how Tutu School invites every child to be magical in their own unique way. Outside of Tutu School, Tracy can be found watching a concert (any genre!) or musical, traveling with her family, or chauffeuring her kids to their travel baseball tournaments or dance competitions.

Soon after, she invited 3 of her school friends, who also attended Newcomb Academy to join the class. After the first year's recital they all decided to continue Hip Hop, additionally adding a Jazz class. Before I continue with this review, I must confirm we have had no issues with her dance instructor "Miss Emily." Emily was always kind, patient, fun and well equipped to instruct multiple dancers ranging in ages 7-9 years old. My daughter and her friends adored Emily and were very sad to leave her class. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago we had a very unprofessional, shocking incident occur with Leslie, one of the owners. When I picked my daughter up after class, I noticed that one of the dancers in her class was crying uncontrollably. Another mom from class was trying to comfort the girl while she waited for her mother. I walked over to see if I could be any assistance, but she was crying so badly she was unable to speak and tell me what occurred. Soon after my daughter and one of her friends who was trying the class to possibly join had no problem telling me what occurred. They let me know that while Miss Emily was changing the studio music Leslie took it upon herself to walk over to the classroom and reprimand, and yell at the class, and call out the student in tears for standing behind the studio barre. She screamed at the little girl to come over to her, sternly yelled in her face that she was "disrespectful, breaking the rules by standing behind the barre. She demanded that the little girl apologize to her. Additionally, she told the class "This was her studio, if they weren't going to listen, she would cancel the class, and they were all disrespectful." This resulted in the little girl running to the restroom, locking herself in the bathroom and crying for the remainder of the class. My daughter let me know that you could hear this little girl crying in the bathroom through the music the remainder of the class. Sadly, my daughter said Miss Emily, who was trying to comfort the little girl told her "Don't worry, Miss Leslie has made me cry before too." My daughter and her friends told me they feared the "old, mean lady" and felt so bad for their dance friend. Yelling at a child is NEVER acceptable, especially in a business setting. I have never once gotten complaints from Miss Emily, Leslie, or any of the other owners that this class had disciplinary problems or any other issues for that matter. Why Leslie thought it was ok to yell at the class, with empty threats and aggressive behavior I will never understand. Another mother that was present at pick-up admitted that she has seen Leslie yell at staff and dancers 2x prior to this incident. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! It's clear to me that Leslie has been getting away with abusive behavior for YEARS. I am truly disappointed that her behavior has been overlooked for so long. I started to re-read older Yelp reviews and realized she has several negative reviews. I am so sad I didn't investigate reviews further before taking my daughter and asking multiple friends of hers to join this studio. When I wrote the studio to let them know I would be canceling classes due to this incident and that I wanted a refund on my recital costume they responded with "Your check is in the mail." There was no apology, no explanation, nothing. We were clearly just a number to the studios pocket-book. Myself, and 4 other families have taken our children out of this school due to this incident. I would not recommend this studio! If you are ok with the potential of your child being screamed at or embarrassed in front of a class, this would be a great studio for you. It only took one incident for me to know this type of behavior is not ok. I really hope Emily realizes she doesn't need to put up with this type of abusive behavior and finds another studio to share her talent with.i

But we spent alittle over $300 there on everything! There is a $35 or $45 entrance fee depending on when you come. It's just to come inside the lagoon. If you want the obstacle course it's an additional $10 per person for 55 mins (super short). If you want to kayak, use the aqua bike or use the paddleboard it's an additional $10 per equipment/item. There is a kiddie area for small and young children. They DO NOT allow outside food or drinks except water! There is a small shop that sells misc. items, snacks & drinks (overpriced). They also had a foodtruck inside that was expensive and the meals didn't come with drinks. They do have plenty of staff and lifeguards there. The entrance fee should of been $15-20. The obstacle course atleast 90-120 mins instead of the 55 mins. Wish the foodtruck came with drinks and was a bigger portion.

A few weeks after our session, we called the place to follow up on our pieces and the woman on the phone sounded rude about us asking about it. We went to pick up our pieces recently and the woman at the front desk definitely sounded like the one we talked to on the phone, same voice and same unwelcoming attitude. As if our presence ruined her day or us picking up our pieces was such a drastic request for her to do.

Your $180 monthly membership does not include firing you glazed piece (that cast extra) and you will need to give a 30 day notice ( even though you will not be using the membership at all like in my case where I am unable to). But... all together I have used the facility one time and then had personal issues that prevents me from using it now. I did not see the 30 day notice and am paying because I did sign it. It seems much like grifting. There is no downside for the studio (not using equipment so no wear and tear) except the loss of my monthly payment. Perhaps this sounds like sour grapes but I truly do not understand this extra month of payment besides they must think they need my money worse than I do.
