I've always regretted not learning how to skateboard when I was younger, so I decided to try it…read morenow! There aren't many places around that have lessons, so that's how I ended up here. It is a really big store with a skate park attached, and they have boards and helmets available for rent. It was $25 for a couple hours, and the gentleman who was teaching that day was awesome. He gave great advice and I could tell that he's taught a bunch of people before. He helped me make excellent use of the time and I felt like I made really good progress... I went from never being on a board to being able to stay on and maneuver around curves in about an hour and a half. I would NOT have been able to do that on my own. Everyone else who showed up to "beginner" skate time were waaaay more advanced than me, so I got to see people using the (many) ramps and I can tell that this place would be awesome for advanced skaters too. I will be going back and if I had kids, I would be taking them too!

I stepped outside briefly and when I came back I was forced to pay $30 just to sit inside with my friend. I was also told I would have to pay an extra $5 if I wanted to skate. The problem is that other people sitting there, including people working on laptops, said they did not pay when I asked. My parents have also never been charged just to watch. On top of that, the employee searched only me and my friend's backpacks and no one else's. After finding nothing, she said "wow you guys are good boys, there are no drugs," which was completely inappropriate. Being the only ones singled out for a bag search and charged when others were not felt very unfair. Given that I am Middle Eastern and my friend is Asian, it also felt like this may have been racially motivated. Update: After posting this review, the owner went up to my younger sister and her friends and asked if they were the ones who wrote the review, telling them they could get in trouble for it. She then came over to my table, confronted me about the review, said it was not appreciated or deserved, and became sarcastic during the interaction. This made the situation even more uncomfortable and only reinforced my original concerns about how we were treated. Would not recommend.

There's seating inside and outside of the rink space and a snack bar with hot dogs, slushies, popcorn, and all the goodies! And the folks behind the skate rental desk are super helpful. I never have been in the pool or playground, it's a stress reliver to come and meet others who enjoy the same hobbies or to start learning a new skill. I'd be heavily concerned about bacterial infections. Took a break on the ' bench ' and couldn't believe the filth, not to mention the ice build up on the mats was horribly slippery... Bathrooms we're disgusting, ice was rough, snack bar smelled like grease, and our opinion was shared by others there. We skated, and upon leaving lathered up in purell, and made everyone shower when got home. Will never be back if it's that poorly cleaned. Living in Radisson, this is a disappointment

The rink is humble but obviously the town where the nestle factory used to be remains a legend. The roller skating rink was built when everyone in Syracuse and Fulton were still supported by blue collar work .... And it was a glorious time. But now the Nestle factory isn't there .. but the people remain and so does Bilou. A lot of kids there but also adults ! The skate management does a great job in turning the lights on almost every other song and they play the songs the teens all want to hear .. turn the strobes on.. lights off :) bug right after they turn on the lights and play a song to maintain the calm and super fun atmosphere. And the snacks are only a buck ! The price is very doable .. especially for a town where the unemployment rate is high. If you come to Bilou and you aren't happy with their business just go ahead and let management know .: from what I can see (and I have no affiliation with the management or rink) they are really doing their best. That is a loss, but second star is removed because the manager who was in charge of admission was not very friendly and did not hand me change instead he put it on the table. Traditionally you hand the change to the person. I was a cashier at stores in past so I know what being friendly means. He has no smiles. What is worse was that he lost another star. This is why I have 2 out of 5 because of his attitude and because of safety. The fire exit doors has a wood stud blocking. That is better than chain locks. But also what is bad is the front door exit blocked with stuff of his. I was going to leave and I noticed all things are blocked so I had to exit at the entrance door. Because of this, that is dangerous. Now, the place itself has shown age. The insulation needs replacement since I see its torn on upper walls and ceiling. Needs repairs. the floor I counted 25 spots or so needs truly sanded and polished with new polyurethane coating on the floor to protect the floor. Of course it is Maple wood in fan pattern for the turns. What is worse is that I was videotaping myself and doing selfies for my website and the owner does not like me doing that but other people were filming the rink themselves with their children! It does not make any sense. This is why he lost this third star. I highly recommend you find another rink. Poor attitude and safety reasons are high on factor for my concerns for you, skaters.

Additionally, they had separate skate sessions for boys and girls, which felt very exclusionary, especially since some of my friends are gender non-conforming or nonbinary which I find sexist. The bathrooms were in terrible condition, with large gaps between the doors, and they were dirty, featuring profanity written on the walls of the stalls. The carpet on the floor was filthy and appeared as though it hadn't been cleaned in years, while little kids were sitting on the ground to put on their skates.

That being said they are not babysitters and children who are not able to skate independently and safely need to be supervised. The skates are good, but don't hesitate to make them aware if the laces need to be tweaked or replaced. There are very few things for minors to do in any direction and for very long distances, but even if there were more choices this destination should top your list. It's affordable, a healthy way to spend a few hours and fun memories to be made. They also do a wonderful birthday party during open hours or schedule a private time.
