This gym is awesome! They have two floors for climbing including both bouldering and rope climbing. There is a nice gym equipment area and a yoga studio. You can rent gear and even buy gear if you want! They have classes for adults and kids as well as camps during the major school breaks. The staff are always friendly and are happy to give climbing tips or instruction to all guests. They will be also be expanding the gym for next fall 2021!

Jonah fell on the 12 and took me for a fun ride up the wall.

Nice facility. Love all the CRG's. Had a bit of a problem on our second visit and Evan came to help quickly. Nice guy and good route setter as well. Good place to climb!

I bought a membership and shoes! I've been climbing for a few months now and I'm hooked! Love the facility and fun atmosphere- it's definitely better than a regular gym. Looking forward to climbing better and more often!

Ask the Community - Central Rock Gym - Syracuse

Is there a trial membership offered? I really want to start rock climbing but was wondering if there was a way for me to try a class without truly committing.

Hi, we have a membership deal running where you can pay the cost of a day pass ($25) and receive the rest of the month (October) for free. You would have to commit to paying at least one full month of membership ($94), which would be for November.… Read more

Can one come in and try a yoga class for free?

Hi Margaret, thanks for asking! If you email us at Syracuse@centralrockgym.com we can set you up with a trial class.

The bouldering is fairly hard for me but I was able to do a few routes over and over and easily spent an hour here.

Super friendly staff and there's a local community feel to the gym, which is a huge draw. Drive me nuts that kids events don't start until like 10 so was so excited that Cayuga Clinbs Toddler Time is from 8:30 to 9:45 it's the perfect time for a kids activity. The space is great for letting kids runaround and try climbing. My daughter love finding the cow on top of one of the climbing wall every time we go. Sorry if no one else has found it since she doesn't let go of it easily once she finds it. It's reasonably priced $15 per toddler and you don't have to pay for the adults like you would a children's museum but you do have to watch your own kids. My twins get so excited to go, seriously one of the best events for toddlers in the area. Typically twice a month on Sundays but it does not have a consistent schedule so again get on the mailing list so you're informed when the next event will take place.

The unfortunate employee is also attempting to deliver pizzas the other parties and the entire time the line is growing. (Reference picture.). NO criticism on Jennifer! Kids Adventure Park/Rock Wall & Trampoline…read more Did the fall sky ride last year and it was well organized and efficient, this years visit.......not so much. Most discombobulated event ever. One would have thought that this was a new feature and they were working out the bugs. Drove to the summit and parked then walked into the summit area with little if no signage indicating where to go. Stumbled into the Summit Bldg and it turned out to be the correct place to be. Checked in and was told the climbing gloveds were sold out (they did refund) and the kids had no problem with the Resort gloves. The reservation was for 12:30 and the 2 grandkids (5&7) had their harness attached along with 4 other kids and one adult and his older son who were doing the "big kids" courses. As we were standing around a guy came along, maybe to relieve the original girl who was taking some sort of gear out to one of the courses with the father and son. The guys asks what we were doing since we were all geared up and I stated that we were waiting for directions at which point he asked what were we signed up for (one would think just by the size of the kids in the gear it would be apparent what we were all waiting to do.) He gave me hand gesture directions, which were not very good and, again, there was poor signage, but after walking in the general direction of the "hand gesture" a woman coming up from the area gave me a clear indication of where we were to go. It is now 12:50 and the attendant was getting kids ready and asks "where are the trollys"? Having no clue what she is talking about out I said that what ever they were wearing was what they were given. She radioed up requesting 2 kids trollys be brought down. Tick tock, tick tock and after about 10 minutes of waiting for a delivery I walked up to the Summit Bldg where the same mass confusion was going on and I peaked behind the black curtains and asked the employee for 2 kids trollys (this was not the first time she had to radio up for kids trollys either). Finally the kids were able to do the courses. Once their time was up we went over to the rock wall/trampoline area and there are no employees there or within sight to ask about the procedure. Once again I walked up to the Summit Bldg asking if anyone was going to be watching the RockWall/Trampoline and they asked if I had gone by there (seriously?) I replied yes and there was nobody around. They said they would get someone so we walked to our car for water and a snack and by the time we got back the area was stocked with an employee who, by the way, was very nice and helpful. Given the state of the economy with discretionary spending tight one would think that Bristol Mtn would be chomping at the bit to provide the best service/experience possible......but it was not to be. The kids area was not crowded or busy and the chairlift rides seemed to be going without issues from what I saw up top. Hopefully Bristol Mtn will get their act together but either way we will not be returning.

Finally, a climbing gym in Binghamton! No more do we have to drive an hour plus for indoor…read moreclimbing. As far as the climbing goes, they have that down. Lots of variety (bouldering, top rope, and lead), easy certification process, and good options for a solo climber (e.g., plenty of autobelays). They also have a great shop for gear, more comprehensive than most other climbing gyms I've been to in the region. So you can get everything you need right here. As far as other amenities, they have a chill area with plenty of seating that includes a water dispenser, coffee machine, microwave, and mini fridge. They do have bathrooms and showers but they don't have a full locker room situation. They only have cubbies near the climbing walls. As far as gym equipment, they do have some, and it might be enough for what you're looking for. But they don't have a full gym's worth of equipment. So before you abandon your regular gym membership, consider taking at look at the equipment they have available and determine if that's adequate for your training. They just opened earlier in January and are still setting up. So things like climbing instruction or yoga classes aren't available yet for the foreseeable future, especially because they are still in the process of hiring all of those staff. So it should be coming soon (?), but it's unclear when. They will also have recreational leagues for children and adults but, again, not yet available. The gym is off to a good start and honestly, I'm glad they're finally open even if not all the peripheral amenities are fully ready to go just yet. If you want to climb, you can definitely do that here right now, and that's huge for this area. Just wanted to share this review and be transparent about what is actually available right now (and I can update later on when full amenities are available). Happy climbing!

I love the indoor running track and wish I had a similar option at home. This is a million times better than running on a treadmill! I've enjoyed it on rainy summer days as well as snowy winter mornings. The fitness center is also very nice and quite large. There is ample equipment and it is extremely clean. I like the Clorox (or Lysol) wipe stations available throughout the facility. There are plenty of mirrors for checking form when lifting and lots of cardio equipment options. Additionally, I enjoyed the large glass windows when I used the treadmill one winter morning. The view is spectacular! The fitness center and running track are the only options I've taken advantage of when in town; however, the class schedule and rock climbing wall both look dynamite. I may give either or both a whirl when I return this summer. Lots of options are available so check it out online and day and weekly passes are available for purchase. The front desk staff are always helpful and pleasant. See you in the summer or on Instagram.
