The shrimp looked super bland and didn't really have that garlicky, saucy punch you expect -- I feel like I could've cooked something better at home. I was starving so it tasted okay, but definitely not something I'd go back for. Also kinda weird there was no mac salad option... made me question how recent some of these other reviews are. I'm a sucker for garlic shrimp, so it was an easy yes for me. I ordered the steak and garlic shrimp, and it was great, but I also decided to order the coconut shrimp to try, and oh my god, it was amazing. Maybe the best coconut shrimp I've ever had. I'm terribly disappointed in the portion sizes that Onos gives now. This review has been sitting in my drafts for a while now, but I've finally decided to post it. Service was alright. Kinda sucked that the drinks fountain wasn't working, but they gave us a canned drink instead so at least that made up for it. Our large steak plates came only half way full, with 1 scoop of rice, and barely dressed salad. I paid almost $20 a plate that wasn't even full unfortunately. Steak was meh, quality has definitely dropped over the years. I shouldn't be paying an upwards of $60 and everyone's still hungry. Positives: Workers are nice, I appreciate the condiment bar, and a good amount of seating options for a to-go plate establishment. Cons: Flavor isn't up to par, portion sizes, and price. For me, the cons outweigh the pros unfortunately, so I probably won't be back, which makes me so sad because I used to love this place. read more

The first time I tried this place the steak was too salty as if the cook seasoned the steak 3x. Today I wanted to give it another try and boy I regret it. The lady that helped us was so nice and welcoming and we got our food under 10 minutes. As soon as I took the first bite of steak I instantly regretted giving this place another try. Came here on a weekday after the lunch rush about 2pm. Parking is still crowded in this corner but more parking available on the other side. Used to frequent this place on my lunch break on a weekly basis. Went there yesterday and asked for a steak plate done medium. Came out to be well done no pinkness in my meat. It's because they cube cut the meat so it cooks faster. Rice portioning went down too as the steak would touch the top of the container. Salad is the usual spring mix lettuce. From the moment I walked through the doors, I already noticed that the owners must have full confidence in their ability to cook because the ground, seats, AND table was dirty, crusty and filled with sand and grime. Nothing but disappointment fills my heart. My beloved food chain that I remember being filled with love and joy as a kid, being dragged through the mud and butchered in the street. Now let's get onto the food, during the very rare times there wasn't sand in my food, the bites taken were mediocre anyways. When asked for more sauce, we were met with the strange demeanor of the cashier telling us sauces were extra on the bill. I just have to say the quality in food has gone down and prices have gone up. I paid $60 with tip for 2 plates today. Was coming in on my lunch break to grab food for my sick husband so i CALLED and PAID AHEAD. Came in, around 2 to pick it up, had 4 people ahead of me and it took THRITY MINUTES to even speak to anybody. 1st time trying this place and it was just alright. The best thing was the steak. We ordered medium and as you can see it's definitely well done. Even though it wasn't cooked properly the player was good and the steak was soft. The shrimp was cooked well but tasted more salty than anything. The fried noodles tasted like fish. I think it had too much fish cake. The chicken tasted nothing like teriyaki and was kinda dry. We spent over $43 for these 3 items which I think is absurd! Not worth the price for the amount of food in my opinion. We ordered both plates with all rice instead of the toss salad and rice. They did not skimp on the rice, lol. We like going here when we just want a simple plate lunch dinner. Exactly like their name says they are known for their steak and shrimp. They do serve other items like fish but I always stick the with the classic combo. It's consistent and priced reasonably compared to other places. They offer sauces on the side to dip your steak in and I always get the finadene sauce. The shrimp is super garlicky which I love and the steak is soft and seasoned perfectly. Made an over the phone order and they had me pay in advance with a credit card. No problem I guess. Went to pick up the food and it was ready so we're all good but no receipt in package. A few days later I see that they charged my card over $50?!? My son had a combo plate. I had the salmon plate and we shared a small plate of noodles. Unless the prices posted on their website are extremely off there is no way our food was that much. Made attempts to call them. No answer no way to leave a voice message. We drove around Kapolei Shopping Center for a place to buy lunch before my appointment nearby. Steak sounded good...ordered a 5 oz. Steak and noodles plate $13 for me and the BBQ Chicken and noodles plate $12 for my husband. While waiting for my food, I found a notice on the far right of the menu that they'll charge an additional $1 for each plate due to inflation and cost of supplies. I looked at my receipt...sure enough, I was charged that extra $1 for each plate. When I opened my steak plate, $14 was too pricey for the amount of food I got but the steak was tasty and some parts of the fried noodles were pretty salty. As for the chicken plate, price was about the same as other places for the amount of food my husband got. He said his chicken was good and the fried noodles wasn't salty so maybe they didn't toss my noodles enough. Overall, the workers were nice and main entree (steak and chicken) was good. I feel that the up-charge notice should be posted "ON" the menu and not on the far right so customers will be aware of it while viewing the menu before they order. I've always wanted to try this place after seeing photos of the delicious plate lunches. Arrived here and didn't know if it was open or not because the windows are tinted and you could barely see the blinking open sign from outside. Surely it was open, employees are nice. I got a 7oz steak plate, no salad though because I don't like it. Wished they had mac salad, I think that would be a good substitute and feel like it also goes well with steak too. I got my steak medium rare. It smelt so delicious on the car ride home. The steak was really tasty and seasoned well, didn't add any sauce and it was still flavorful. We ordered take out on Sunday for a late lunch. We ordered the steak plate and the garlic shrimp plate. When I got home we opened up the plates and we got one steak plate. We ordered medium rare but got medium. It was a little overcooked but the flavor was good. We would get the steak plate again. Don't play with ONO's S&S! This salmon steak plate was ONO indeeeed. Salmon was absolute perfection got crispy exterior with flaky interior and if you can make me enjoy a wasabi sauce you're doing something right lol, steak had great flavor as well but I will admit the salmon was the star for me. This plate came with a side salad and rice. The Garlic shrimp was also a hit according to my Ohana, the really appreciated that they put some of that garlic butter goodness on the rice too made it even more flavorful. This location is not huge a few indoor tables and two outdoor tables. I think their service is pretty good, it's a very quick experience though so not much to go off. I definitely would recommend ONO's for some good eats in Kapolei! I love this place. I usually come here before/after work if I get chance. You can't really complain about service, the people at the front are usually nice. It's a hit or miss on the wait though, sometimes it's fast & sometimes it's takes a bit. The inside of the restaurant is relatively clean. You can't really eat inside if you have a big family, the tables only hold up to 4 but all good. I usually get the 12oz Steak & Noodle. Absolutely BOMB! My wife likes the 4oz Steak & Shrimp and my kids just get the mini plates. Only downside is that they raised the prices A LOT. We called in everyone's order a few hours before lunch and had a staff member go and pick-up. I ordered their half steak/half garlic shrimp on rice with a side of korean sauce. It was very delicious. I don't know much about the quality of steak, however, this steak was tender and flavorful. The garlic shrimp was extremely delicious. I also appreciated how generous they were in lathering it we their garlic mixture. It leaked on to the rice making it even that much more delicious! While waiting to have our oil changed we wondered around this shopping center. Decided to have lunch at Ono Steak and Shrimp. We ordered largest Steak and Shrimp Plate which came with salad and rice. The steak was nicely seasoned and liked the flavor however slightly cooked more than requested. Really liked the garlic sauce on the shrimp which seeped into the bed of rice, a lot of garlic pieces. Only problem very few shrimp, maybe five and small. There was a generous portion of salad with the meal. Husband and I shared, so no complaint on portion size. The steak & shrimp plate is sooo good! The flavor has extra seasoning which is my favorite. The meat was extremely tender. Their fried noodle plate is a must try! There isn't a lot of table space to sit and enjoy your meal so be prepared to grab and go. Or wait a few minutes and hopefully you'll get lucky with a seat.
