My husband loves this place. There chicken katsu is pretty good, and the macaroni salad is fire! It's like a perfect combo.

Food was really good, except for the multiple peices of hair in my chicken katsu. It wasn't on top, it was inside the chicken like engraved into it. We got take out from here last night. When we ordered we were told it would be about 15 mins before it was done. It did not feel like it was that long, but we got our food, and when they handed it to us they reminded us to get sauces, if we wanted. The customer service was very friendly and helpful, Edith took our order and definitely had the counter covered. Our food was perfect when we got home. We appreciate the helpings, and always have enough for lunch the next day. Ambiance was great, and can't wait to return!!! read more

Trust the reviews. I was craving Katsu and we were already on this side of town so we ordered me some for pick up as well as a Hawaiian Chicken meal for my hubby. But it's Hawaiian BBQ so of course we also had to get some spam musubi. I was so looking forward to them. My husband went in and grabbed the food. There were two meal containers and a side container, which matched our order. As soon as I got home and put down my bags I went for the spa musubi. I opened the container to find that had sloppily thrown some macaroni salad in a side dish and left out our musubis. I was super bummed but still hungry so we said we would give them a call after eating dinner. But we didn't eat dinner. I opened my Katsu and it looked fine so I dug in. It was soggy and the veg underneath was literally slimy. So, I moved on to the macaroni salad but it was terrible. Luke warm and tasted like rotten onions. The food was so bad, I thought I was on a prank show or something. I figured I could at least eat some rice but I actually can't even comprehend how someone could ruin rice like they did. Even a child can use a rice-maker. The rice was cold and tasted as if someone tried to steam rice but didn't add enough water so it was still hard and then just soaked the cooked rice in water or something. I mean how can steamed rice be crunchy and disgustingly mushy at the same time? We threw it all away. To be fair, I did not end up calling about the missing musubi for multiple reasons. The food was so bad it wouldn't even be worth going through the trouble of trying to get a replacement just for like $10 worth of food and I never plan on eating here again anyway. It also seemed like they purposely tried to make it look like they gave us the musubi by throwing macaroni salad in a dish and trying to make the order look complete. For some reason, I missed the memo that Lodi has an Ono Hawaiian BBQ. I'm so happy I discovered (better late than never) because my Mother's Day lunch was fantastic. The food was fresh and extremely satisfying. The service was great and the price for what we got was competitive to other lunch options in the area. This was the small taste of the Hawaiian islands, but in sunny Lodi, CA. I had low expectations when I went inside the restaurant, however this was quickly turned around. See my ratings below: Ambiance 3/5: Nothing special about the ambiance. They had the front door open which led it to feel extremely hot inside the restaurant. Price 4/5: I felt the price was reasonable based on the portion sizes that were given for the musubi and the chicken plate. Food 4/5: The beef musubi at Ono Hawaiian BBQ is a must-try. Well-seasoned beef wrapped in a blanket of sticky rice and nori. The combination of savory and slightly sweet flavors was amazing for sure! The young coconut for $5 was a tad expensive but very refreshing nonetheless. Paired perfectly with my food. Service 5/5: The staff were all very friendly, attentive and we struck up a great conversation about my visit to the lodi area. The wait was not long at all either. Me and my husband were on a long road trip and saw this ono Hawaiian bbq and we're very excited to eat and get off the road. We came in and ordered to take it with us. We both don't like a lot of rice with the order so I ordered us both a side salad instead of two rice scoops. When I worded this to the front desk gal I asked for one less rice and one extra salad, she then said one more mac salad? I said oh no, one more green salad. In a very nice way I requested this. she said oh you mean one of each? i said yes thanks! id appreciate it! paid then even tipped in the jar (wish i didnt). she then proceeded to take about 7 peoples orders as i sat there i watched all of them pay wait then leave with their food. This is a solid Hawaiian BBQ place. Pretty casual, clean, hip. Staff was efficient. There are individual tables and a big center community table, which was great. We ordered and then waited to be called up to get our food. I ordered their spicy chicken rice dish and my so. Got the katsu chicken. Both were good but the katsu chicken was really good. Just stopped in for lunch and tried to order the chicken Katsu lunch plate. I don't like the Mac salad it comes with, I asked if it could just come without it. I was told due to a promotion "no substitutions". I explained I don't want any substitutions just to not put the scoop of Mac salad on the plate. Called ahead to order a couple mini plates. Read that food can take a long time to come out. Was told 15 mins and arrived in 20, food was ready, packaged and hot. I wanted to order a couple fountain drinks but it seemed a bit pricey. Two mini plates came out to a little over $17. Inside was busy and clean. Service was quick and all my questions were answered even though I had already ordered. I feel like I can get Hawaiian food cheaper elsewhere but the mini plate was more than enough for a quick lunch. I even had left overs! We went there today for lunch, got good service and the white fish was absolutely wonderful. The wait was not long and it wasn't crowded at 1:15 but they seemed to be doing quite a bit of takeout. Could not get over how good the fish was, Ono I guess and the macaroni salad which I usually don't like even when I make it myself was terrific also. If I were you I would not let all the moaning and sniveling prevent me from enjoying that fantastic fish.
