Food was delicious!!! Was testing it out to see if it would work for a party with having it catered and it did not disappoint

If you are reading this and you really want some Hawaiian BBQ, Please go to Sunshine Hawaiian BBQ immediately! It's only 4 miles away and you will thank me later. This Ono is terrible. Trust the reviews. I was craving Katsu and we were already on this side of town so we ordered me some for pick up as well as a Hawaiian Chicken meal for my hubby. But it's Hawaiian BBQ so of course we also had to get some spam musubi. I was so looking forward to them. My husband went in and grabbed the food. There were two meal containers and a side container, which matched our order. As soon as I got home and put down my bags I went for the spa musubi. I opened the container to find that had sloppily thrown some macaroni salad in a side dish and left out our musubis. I was super bummed but still hungry so we said we would give them a call after eating dinner. But we didn't eat dinner. I opened my Katsu and it looked fine so I dug in. It was soggy and the veg underneath was literally slimy. So, I moved on to the macaroni salad but it was terrible. Luke warm and tasted like rotten onions. The food was so bad, I thought I was on a prank show or something. I figured I could at least eat some rice but I actually can't even comprehend how someone could ruin rice like they did. Even a child can use a rice-maker. The rice was cold and tasted as if someone tried to steam rice but didn't add enough water so it was still hard and then just soaked the cooked rice in water or something. I mean how can steamed rice be crunchy and disgustingly mushy at the same time? We threw it all away. To be fair, I did not end up calling about the missing musubi for multiple reasons. The food was so bad it wouldn't even be worth going through the trouble of trying to get a replacement just for like $10 worth of food and I never plan on eating here again anyway. It also seemed like they purposely tried to make it look like they gave us the musubi by throwing macaroni salad in a dish and trying to make the order look complete. I cannot stress enough how not worth it this place is. There is a reason they have more one star views than all other reviews combined. Avoid them at all costs.

This was the small taste of the Hawaiian islands, but in sunny Lodi, CA. I had low expectations when I went inside the restaurant, however this was quickly turned around. See my ratings below: Ambiance 3/5: Nothing special about the ambiance. They had the front door open which led it to feel extremely hot inside the restaurant. Price 4/5: I felt the price was reasonable based on the portion sizes that were given for the musubi and the chicken plate. Food 4/5: The beef musubi at Ono Hawaiian BBQ is a must-try. Well-seasoned beef wrapped in a blanket of sticky rice and nori. The combination of savory and slightly sweet flavors was amazing for sure! The young coconut for $5 was a tad expensive but very refreshing nonetheless. Paired perfectly with my food. Service 5/5: The staff were all very friendly, attentive and we struck up a great conversation about my visit to the lodi area. The wait was not long at all either. I believe I waited no more than 15 minutes for my food. I appreciate them a lot!

Love me some Ono... they have just opened. Love Ono #1 and hubby loves the #44. Very tasty.. I'm thinking people don't know they are open yet because it wasn't crazy busy in there. You can get healthy choices and do all veggies with the chicken.

Food was good. First time eating here in the Lodi location. They give good portions. I had the Teriyaki chicken plate.

Pretty decent Hawaiian bbq chain place. Stick to the basics. The galbi wasn't that great. A bit tough.

Wow, I was so impressed with the uniqueness of this place! I've been to conveyor belt sushi places…read morebefore but this is the first time I have seen individual hot pots with accompaniments coming to you on a conveyor belt! What a great concept!! Everyone is seated with their own individual hot pot plate to build their own individual hot pot. (Don't worry it does not burn). You choose your basic soup broth, choose the meat you would like, and then start grabbing things off the conveyor belts! It not only is a fun concept, you can get quite creative with how you build your hot pot and choose just the things to your liking. I was amazed that they had very authentic Chinese ingredients to choose from - wood ear, enoki mushrooms, bok choy, different kinds of noodles, fish balls, Napa cabbage, octopus, and lots of different varieties of selfish, plus much much more! I chose the traditional broth and they even had Chinese red dates in it plus wolfberries (sometimes known as Goji berries) in the broth just like what I grew up with The service was just ok, since it was our first time there we had to ask a lady to show us what we were supposed to do. She was helpful, but the servers don't come around very often. That said, the plates and dishes clutter up really fast and they don't come around very often to clear the dishes, for which I would have taken a star off. But my experience there with conveyor belt hot pot was so nice that I'm leaving it at five stars. What I liked best besides the authentic ingredients, is that you can become quite creative to build your own hot pot to your own liking.

Love having my own individual pot and personalizing my broth and spice level. The meat is fresh (1 meat at a time), and the DIY sauce station. Price is reasonable too when you go at lunchtime. Waitress is super nice too.

One thing to note is that gift cards can NOT be used toward any of the catering menu items. So my plan did not work out too well. I ended up getting a few family meals with the gift card, but then spent more for catering since I had about 15 ppl to feed. I worked with Alice on the phone and when I went to pick up she was there to greet and assist. I had set a pick up date and time (about 5-6 days out). I Called the day before to adjust the time and good thing I did bc the date was incorrect on paper. I asked to pick up a couple hours later and she adjusted and apologized about writing the wrong date. When it came pick up time - I ended up having an emergency and had to call to let them know I was running about an hour late. Alice said they can hold no problem. She helped me carry to my car when I arrived - nice that they have a couple 5 min pick up parking spots right in front!

Since he had no dietary restrictions, I decided to grab him something close by and this place was a perfect option! I ordered at the counter from very friendly staff who brought the food out and packaged hot within minutes! Faster than most popular chain drive thrus! It's pretty much set up as a carry out, yet there are a couple tables and chairs than seem to function more for waiting than for dining in. (Read: not for date night to impress!) I ordered the chicken and beef combo for under $20 with tax -- which was like a mountain of tender and well seasoned meat with a flavorful cooked vegetable medley and macaroni salad as sides. I really appreciated that the sides were substantial, and not used as filler in exchange for less protein. Hubby loved it and he was the envy of the nurses station, as the aroma of good homestyle food is hard to ignore! And I was so very thankful able to give my husband a great tasting and satisfying meal for his recovery and at a very reasonable price! Pro tip: For moderate eaters, two people can share one order and be quite satisfied! In the case of hubby, it lasted him for two meals and I could spend more time caring for him :) Thank you Hawaiian BBQ express!
