I'm ten years faithful to One World and I decided to change my rating today after two consecutive bad experiences in the past month. Servers have always had a great vibe & chill & fun. Never a complaint. But the food. Sigh. The last two visits the food has been cold...presentation lacking...and then today my long-term standby had a very bad taste. The beautiful thing about reviews is that you can update your review as you go back to a place...and today I thought "holy shit they have an outdoor patio! it can't get better." Decent. Definitely over-hyped. Service is always good but the food is mediocre. Pretty sure my breakfast sandwich was made with prepackaged bacon bits and bagged eggs. On the surface it looks like a "hip" place but the menu reads like an Applebee's with vegan options. Drink specials are good, though. The sandwich had good flavor but was a little dry. I ordered a side of ranch and put it on my sandwich to fix the problem. The bun was super tasty and probably my favorite part. Okay. So. After reading reviews I had to go with the Cuban-Pork-Sandwich, and, it was glorious. Really. Hands down, one of the best tasting meals I've had. Ever. Also, I went with the roasted veggie medley for my side (just as good). This place really nailed it with the food; the prices and the atmosphere. Visited One World Cafe on a rainy Saturday and it really brightened our day! Spinach Artichoke Dip appetizer was wonderful. Also sampled the Crispy Salmon Pasta, and traded the angel hair for spaghetti squash for no extra charge...it was delicious! Our table also order the southwest chicken dinner salad and it was a very large and tasty meal. Overall, great dining experience in Peoria IL! read more

I LOVED this place! I wasn't too thrilled about eating in Peoria while visiting Bradley University. I'm a food snob, I know it. Anyway, I always avoid the chains on these visits, but there are usually slim pickings. I had looked up a few places here and then someone from the University told us to visit here. We had a great time. The menu is so diverse, there are so many choices even for a "problem" child like me! I have a few food allergies, so there are usually slim pickings. Not here! They even had gluten free bakery products and I had to hold myself back from the giant chocolate cookie they offered. I had the santa fe chicken wrap deconstructed (for the food allergies) and they were VERY accomodating. Hubby and son #3 had a pizza which is kind of risky being from Chicagoland, but they really enjoyed it. This place just has a great, relaxed atmostphere. All the employees seemed just as happy to be there as the patrons. I made sure the manager, Phillip, knew how much we enjoyed our visit. I'm not sure if son #3 will end up at Bradley, but at least I know of one good dining spot there if I go back again. read more

As a vegetarian, this is my favorite place to eat in Peoria! I absolutely love the Santa Fe pizza. It has a really great mix of soyrizo and potatoes and who would have thought to put potatoes on a pizza! Also the pizza crust is fantastic. I don't consider myself to be a pizza fanatic at all but this is one of the best crusts I've ever had! Other things I've had: Baja quesadilla - very good and similar to the Santa Fe pizza. Baja rice - delicious! Spicy Cajun Pasta - not at all spicy but still very good. If you get the tofu they kind of overload it and it's a little strange but the pasta itself is good. I supposed it would probably be decent with the chicken if you're into that Mac n cheese - not the best Italian sodas - I really enjoy the watermelon one. Sometimes it's a little too sweet but that depends on who is making it Overall, this place has a great ambiance, friendly servers, and great food. Great food at what's probably the most famous restaurant in the 309 area code. Anyone who's lived in or around Peoria knows about One World, and for good reason. Don't let the hippie vibe fool you into thinking its only vegan; there are plenty of delicious animals to eat. Went there for lunch with a coworker, food was pretty good, but the service was sub-par and the prices! Oh My!!! I would probably give them another chance if their prices weren't 30% more than they should be. I don't mind paying those prices if I have superior service or a nice atmosphere. One world is my favorite restaurant in Peoria! If you're visiting Peoria it's also definitely a place everyone should try. I also love how many vegan/vegetarian options they have. My favorites are the pita/raw veggies and hummus, the Thai noodle salad(I get tofu on it and SO GOOD), the samosas but I get it with the Thai peanut dressing, the falafel wrap, the impossible burger(you can get vegan cheese and vegan bread too!, and their pizzas are also good and offer vegan cheese. My current favorite dessert is the chocolate banana oatmeal bar and I always ask them to microwave it so it's nice and warm. If I'm getting alcohol I always recommend the Long Beach ice tea! So good and so strong in the best way!! They only allow you to have two of them though! ;) I also enjoy summertime because they have a cute outside patio with little tea lights. Great place to drink with friends on a summer night! They also do have a rewards card and you get excellent coupons with it! Will always go back here!!! read more

This place is great. Once I got past the Hippy sorta atmosphere, I really got into the food, and the drinks and the fun of it. My friends and I come here to splurge a bit every so often. The food is really good, and inventive. The atmosphere is upbeat and fun. The servers are always nice and accommodating to additions and changes to requests. The first time I ever visited One World I had a wonderful experience, yet the subsequent visits continually get blocked by poor service and over priced food. First, One World's Service continues to leave much to be desired. If you can get the hostess/host to seat you in a timely manner, then you more than likely have some form of Jedi powers. Typically you wait to be greeted and then eventually get someone to get the host/hostess to seat you. While sitting you typically must wait at least ten minutes for someone to bring you water, then another ten or so to take your drink and food order, and then more time to simply receive your meal. Second, One World's food remains good, but not spectacular. Presentation remains brilliant with properly placed garnishes and spices. Flavor, consistency, and temperature are also well done. Yet, the food lacks a wow factor that many individuals search for in such an environment. The establishment's prices remain fairly steep for portions of food that do not match up. Finally, the restaurant seems to suffer from an identity crisis. I absolutely adore the walls and "hippie, fair trade" feel of One World, but it appears the restaurant is caught between trying to be a great place for a date and a wonderful place to study. Regulars frequent the place, but then One World attempts to push their business to more upscale clientele. Overall, I will continue to eat at One World occasionally, but probably will not make it into a weekly event or even a "special" event. If you really enjoy the place, then befriend the servers to ensure great service that remains quick. As for me, I will just continue to make sure I do not have to be anywhere particular for fear of being late. read more

Had a very nice lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. The space is large, warm, and very inviting. Staff were a bit frazzled, but friendly. My husband and I each had the falafel --mine in a wrap and his served on toasted pita. Mine was definitely the way to go, as his was a complete mess to eat. Falafel was delicious and served with a very nice hummus and tahini dressing mix of tomatoes, onions, etc. I had a side of fries and he had veggie chili. Both very good, as was a side salad I ordered. Seemed to have a good beer and drink and dessert selection, although we didn't partake. Absolutely someplace I would return. Prices a tad steep and service a tad slow, but wonderful place well worth a visit. read more

Fell in love with One World on my Bradley campus visit, and it never let me down for 4 years of college. I haven't lived in Peoria for over 3 years, and I still miss their food! The atmosphere in One World is great... eclectic mix of furniture, murals on every wall, and ever changing art exhibits. One of my favorite art professors in college painted the giant face that's on one wall. The food here is soooo good. You can't find this kind of stuff at other places in Peoria. The hummus and the spinach and artichoke dip are two of my favorites, but literally everything here is awesome. Like the World Turkey club. And the Veggie breakfast Bungle. And... ok, I'll stop, this is making me really really want to make a trip to Peoria. Yummy... Beware, peak times (like Friday and Saturday nights) when Bradley is in session, the place gets packed. The waiters get spread a little thin and sometimes you have to wait a little while, but it's well worth it. And it could be better now, the last time I was here was 2 years ago while visiting campus. read more

One World, Oh I Love Thee..... So its Saturday, and hubby and I drove down to visit his grandma (the greatest cook in the world, who has hung up her apron--bless her soul for all those marvelous meals up to this point). We intended to go to our usual hangouts (Jim's or Jim's Bistro) and drove to BOTH only to learn they were not yet open. We tried a few other of grandma's favorites that are tolerable (thank GOD VOP is closed... bleh) and NONE were open. Seriously... Saturday in Peoria and not open for lunch!?!? Hello One World. Not only were we famished, but we were lucky enough to get seated without a wait. I love the decor. The painted tables and the wall murals which are hiding things in the images--so you have to look close {:-) (blush) Service was great. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive doting on grandma. I had the falafal salad and it was good. I loved the dressing. Hubs got some wrap thing that was a bit small, so he got to enjoy 1/2 of grandma's burger--which they both said they enjoyed their meal. Thank you One World. You made the 3 hr @ way ride to Peoria tolerable :) I may return more often. read more

Great Humus. Barbecue chicken pizza is a favorite. Only time I had a beer there, the lines at the bar were not clean- the drink was terrible. There interior decorating is interesting and rather spastic. Murals all over the walls. Very friendly staff. Food is good but a bit highly priced for its quality. read more

We started with some Hummus and it was amazing. Try some of this stuff and you'll never go back to store bought Hummus again. My wife had the eggplant lasagna, she thought the taste was good and she loved the honey dijon dressing. Oldest daughter had the felafel sandwich and she thought it was a little spicy. I had the chicken and waffles and it was fabulous. Everyone wanted a taste of the waffle. The chicken had a kick but it was just the way I like it. i've been here quite a few times in the past month to get either soup or drinks to go and i've noticed that it doesnt matter how nice you are or even if you tip them they simply dont care about you i've been there at least 5 or 6 times so far and im not asking you to be overly friendly but when i walk in the door the employees just stare at me and don't say anything one time they told me they were CLOSED at like 9 but i called in and they said they closed at 10.. the sign on the door said that as well and the open sign was still on maybe they just simply don't want to serve me is it the way i look? is this a racial thing hahahaha but for real i'd like to know however, i did go in today and decided to grab a bite before meeting up with a friend and my server was nice and did check on me and for him i'd give him four or five stars but for the restaurant id give one star i just feel like in general the restaurant doesn't really care about people and the thing is the quality of the food is a-ok i've had their pizza and soups and drinks and some starters they range from good to meh read more

Been here twice, travelling through town, and had a good experience both times. First was a late lunch midweek, it was very quiet & seating was immediate. Had the shrimp wrap -- spicy, messy , and full of flavor. Second time was with the family in tow, Labor Day brunch. Place was packed -- waited about 15 minutes for a four-top. Service was very friendly and as fast as could be expected given the circumstances. I had the fish sandwich (tilapia). I suggest they change the species -- there's not much saving grace to Tilapia except its price. Another option would be nice; even catfish has more flavor. But the herb rub and the pesto mayo helped. What helped even more were the seasoned fries -- ohmigod! what a wonderful heaping of salted fried goodness. My wife had the Herbivorian. It looked tasty and WAS tasty -- but came stacked so super-tall that it was almost impossible for her to take a bite. Presentation is nice, guys, but it shouldn't be your prime directive. read more

Looks great on paper (in pixels?) but in reality it's a mediocre hippie cafe. Most of the people who work here seem miserable and totally holier than thou. We walked in and were immediately snarled at by a girl who seemed to be just sitting down to her lunch ("not my problem" says the paying customer), who brought us all the way to the back of the restaurant, between the kitchen and bathroom, and left. We analyzed our surroundings and the many open tables and tried to find someone to ask if we could switch, but everyone was busy pretending we were invisible. We waited for about 5 minutes for our waitress and just decided to move to a table by the window. Our new waitress came over and, finally, smiled. She seemed to be the only person in the whole cafe who was actually waiting on her tables (and she had quite a few of them). The falafel wrap was decent, but someone needs to teach these people how to make tzatziki. It shouldn't be the color and consistency of watered down milk. M's sandwich was disappointing as well. We had planned to order coffees and sit for awhile, but it was clear once we were finished eating that we weren't welcome anymore so we brought our business to the Starbucks across the street. read more
