So, I got a second opinion and NO cavities just like I suspected. At the time, Dr. Cronchite was out of the office with back problems and a different dentist was filling in (I don't remember her name). However, since I've been going there, I've been diagnosed with 2 cavities (two different times), was recommended for a root canal (performed at a different recommended office), recommended to have a wisdom tooth out (also performed at a different recommended office). That was 11 weeks ago and part of my face is still numb. Now, I'm left wondering how much of that was needed and how much was a cash grab. In the past I had read similar reviews, but ignored them. BEWARE, Be SKEPTICAL, and ask for proof of diagnosis!

They work with new dental assistants, but have had the same employees for years. Have had issues over the years. Once we called Dr Guido at about 6:00 AM because of an issue that arose. It was the only time we could contact them to tell them we weren't going to be able to make our appointment that day. He was very nice about us waking him up early. The Corona virus, he contacted us on a Saturday evening to touch base in person about our up coming appointments. Can't say enough THANKS for the way they have worked with us over the years. They offered to do the rework for free, but the explanations we were given about the additional work seemed a bit dodgy, so we decided to have another dentist take a look. I decided to write a review because I have been reading nasty reviews (probably deserved) of other…read moredental offices in town, and I thought it might be nice to write a good review for a dental practice that definitely deserves it. I have been going to Dr Ortman since I moved to Lafayette in 2008 (I'm writing this in 2015). His staff has always been knowledgeable and friendly, and the dental hygienists are very good at what they do. Getting my teeth cleaned is not my favorite way to spend an hour, but they make it as pleasant as possible. The last hygienist I saw was Kirsten, and she was friendly, gentle, and even made me laugh a few times. There is a new dentist there, Nathan Webster, and not only is he a good dentist and explained everything clearly to me, but he's also easy on the eyes. Mmmm hmmm. Anyway, since my insurance is through Purdue (for grad students) and it's total crap, I had to pay out of pocket, about $245 for x-rays, exam, and cleaning. While that's not cheap for me at all, it's still better than going to the two places that are covered under my insurance, both of which magically see cavities that you don't have and run exorbitant, unnecessary treatments such as "deep cleaning" and "mouth cancer screen". Oh, and if you're from Dr. Ortman's practice and you're reading this: please update your website and add some pics of your new dentist. Thx.

They made me feel more comfortable . They both knew what they were doing and the dental area wasn't crowded with patients either. Not a long wait time once I had my appointment. I have two more appointments with them set up for this fall. I feel confident im in good care. Please note: The entrance to the building is not labeled weirdly - there's no sign - but it is in the same building as a chiropractor.

I had a root canal on a damaged molar this morning. After the initial discomfort of numbing…read moreinjections, it was pain free and even the level of noise was minimal. I actually fell asleep (with no sedatives) and napped through the latter half of the procedure. The staff - desk staff, hygienist, and Dr. Fisher - were all welcoming, friendly, concerned about my comfort and convenience, and very respectful and professional in practice. They were transparent about the cost at the time the appointment was scheduled, and it was within norms for this procedure on this type of tooth (I am a health economist and epidemiologist and have access to good data on pricing to compare it to). I was referred to this practice by another dentist, and Lafayette Endodontics had responded to the referral and called me to schedule the appointment withing 10 minutes of leaving the referring dentist's office. All pre-treatment paperwork (except for signing off on consent for the particular procedure) was completed with a simple on-line form they sent me a link to and which required less than 10 minutes to complete as a new patient. I hope no one needs Dr. Fisher's services, but if you do I strongly recommend using him.

It seems super strange to review an endodontist, but hey, sometimes you review weird places…read more About 18 months ago, my usual dentist told me I'd eventually need a root canal. The tooth had been vaguely bothering me, so I decided to finally do it, and got a referral to Dr. Patterson. I went in a couple of weeks ago and very quickly got escorted back to the room I was going to be root canaled in (is that a verb?). Dr. Patterson came in and talked to me first, which I appreciated. We chatted about pain management protocols (he's very aware of opioid addiction and helping his patients avoid that), which I appreciated (although I'm not an addict, I have family members who are). He walked me through some of the specifics for my procedure, since there are several options, and explained the various pieces of equipment he was going to use. Overall, he made me feel comfortable with *him*, rather than making my feel like I was just one of ten root canals that day. His assistant made sure I was warm (they have blankets!), and we got started. The procedure itself was painless. I had my headphones on, I zoned out, Dr. Patterson and his dental assistant did their thing. Afterwards, it was a little sore, but nothing ibuprofen couldn't handle. I have a follow up next week for part 2. Three fun facts: #1, Dr. Patterson's father was one of the founders of endodontics. #2, Someone loved their root canal so much they literally wrote poetry about it. #3, If you have errant hairs on your chin that you have to pluck...wait until after your procedure. Your face is all numb, so you can pluck them pain-free! Honestly, I hope I don't have to go back, because I'd rather not have messed up teeth. But if I do have to have another root canal, I'll certainly go to Dr. Patterson.
