As I said, everything was phenomenal. Unfortunately, there is one issue we cannot look past, although we have tried. The bagels are delicious, but they are the absolute wettest, slippery and slidey-est bagels I've ever had in my life. The meal is spent looking down and hoping my beloved or other guests don't see the schmear up to my nose. By the end, we are having to reconstruct our bagel, as it looks like roadkill on the table. It is not a user error, as we eat slowly and carefully. I even have friends who refuse to come back here because it was the messiest eating experience of their lives. It's so unbelievably messy. We have to rinse off in their bathroom before leaving. I have to take my rings off and put my hair up. It's a commitment, one we are not strong enough to make at this point. Delicious, but.... we must bid you farewell, Boss Bagel. Godspeed.

Finally got in to try Wild Barley after seeing in on a Guy Fieri 'Diners and Dives' show. Very much…read moreworth the visit. Service was prompt, and the ambiance is a funky cross between a bakery and a diner. Parking is easy in their private lot. I first tried their 'Texas Style' pastrami Reuben sandwich. This is smoked pastrami brisket, served with on their house-made marbled rye and topped with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and garlic aioli. Quite a bit different than a NYC-style sandwich. The aioli instead of dressing, thicker slices, etc etc. But wow, did it taste good. It's as if a pastrami Reuben and a sliced smoked brisket sandwich had a love child who inherited the best from each parent. I also tried their salmon gravlax on an 'everything' bagel. This bagel was baked in-house, topped with the cured salmon, cream cheese, tomato, red onion, capers, and a sprig of dill. Rustic, beautiful, and delicious. Definite recommend! This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

I think the reason I didnt "love" the pizza is because its so different with the sourdough base and not what i am used to. I would like to return and try a sandwich or something else on the menu. Service was fast and friendly, and the place was clean and welcoming. My main reason for trying out wild barley was because they have sour beers, it wasnt the best sour beer i have ever had, but i have noticed in Texas the sour beers have a strange taste to them that i cant quite put my finger on. Overall though it was refreshing and cold. my husband really enjoyed the cider. We will be back and i hope after trying something different on the menu to change my review to 5 stars,

Last weekend, I decided to wait in the line and it went by much faster than I thought it would. We ordered the iced cookie butter matcha with an almond croissant. This might've been one of the best almond croissants I've had too, it was flaky on the outside and soft, sweet. I'm for all things cookie butter and this one did NOT disappoint. It was a perfect balance of sweet with still that lovely matcha flavor. I went with a friend who doesn't like matcha and even he was enjoying it. The second time I went is when they were running a matcha promo that they announced on their instagram (definitely follow the there!) and so I went for my midday pickup and there was a small line of about 7 people. It went by pretty fast. We were intrigued by the horchata milk and the employee let us try a bit and we were convinced that was the one. We got the horchata matcha and the banana matcha with banana cream. I definitely loved both of them but if I had to pick a favorite, it would def be that banana matcha. Perfect balance of that real tasting banana flavor (I dislike any of the artificial fruit flavorings) with the well-balanced matcha. The employees were all super friendly as they even encouraged us to ask for modifications after we got our drinks. Overall, i'll definitely be back and I 1000% get the hype now!!
