Mexican sweet bread
Rose A.

This bread is ALWAYS fresh, no matter what time you go, we go to the Goliad Rd location...a huge selection and great prices too

I can't say enough good things about this bakery. It's very clean inside and the woman who helped us was so sweet. We got a huge variety of things and got some really yummy treats.

Front door with hours to the left. Plus COVID related info on signs. Read up.

Stopped by on a Saturday around 2pm. There was a short line of folks and they were limiting total customers to about 3 people Max. The pan dulce was fresh and great tasting. The empanada were pretty good with pumpkin filling. Not overalls baked like most Mexican bakery's. The conchas were fresh tasting and semi sweet as one would expect. We also ordered some wedding (Mexican) cookies and cupcakes with pink icing. The glazed donuts with strawberry filling were really good. If you like glazed donuts check them out. They looked very fresh and just covered in icing. All in all I was very pleased with my first visit here. The workers were extremely friendly and bagged the pan dulce separately. Which I appreciated because sometimes it becomes a mess with the different times. I am only giving 4 stars until I go back and try some more stuff. -Rick

As they say, "it is what it is". And what it is, is Yummy deliciousness! The name is most certainly fitting. La Popular Bakery is popular! Only 3 folks inside at a time so there are lines at times. It because EVERYTHING looks, smells and tastes fresh. You really can't wrong here. I love me the apple fritters and the kids LOVE their chocolate glazed. It's cash only so that keeps me from spending MUCH MORE than I would. The 4 stars is really about the lack of connection with the ladies taking the orders. We are already behind masks, and there is no menu anywhere, just makes it hard to understand what my options are. But as far as taste and price (Half dozen for $5 something) its 5 STARS! It's just my background in hospitality that cannot allow me to give the full 5. Sorry La Popular Bakery.

I CANT GET ENOUGH of these types of mom and pop bakeries. I was visiting my friend from out of town and came across this bakery on Yelp. I ordered the churro, the cream danish, the macaroon and other pastries. My friend and I agreed that they were some of the best homemade pastries we've had.

Just like my hometown bakery!! They have all those Latino pastry treats from churros to conchas and Maranitos(ginger pig treat). They're very courteous, clean and patient! Also if you're looking for a good flour tortillas source, this is your place! Pricing is reasonable and everything is fresh. One last incredible feature is the hours... they're open from 5 am to 10 pm everyday! A hidden gem near the Alamo ranch area.. Come visit them! Enjoy!

The glazed donuts are my favorite! I go just for those. Everything is usually fresh with the exception of a few times.

what is the point of good pan dulce if the ladies who work their are rude and close early. Hire women who care about their workplace.

I finally made it to 85°C Bakery Cafe, and I can definitely see why it's so popular! There are so…read moremany pastries, breads, and desserts to choose from that you'll want to take one of everything. My favorite was the Sea Salt Matcha. The matcha had a rich, earthy flavor, and the light sea salt cream on top added the perfect touch without making it overly sweet. It was smooth, refreshing, and one of the better matcha drinks I've had. I also picked up a few pastries, and everything tasted fresh and flaky. The café was clean, the staff was friendly, and despite being busy, the service was quick. If you're a matcha lover, I'd definitely recommend trying the Sea Salt Matcha along with one (or a few!) of their pastries. I'll definitely be back to try more from their bakery.

She really kept the place clean, organized, and running smoothly, even when it was busy. Since she left, though, the cleanliness and orderliness have been pretty inconsistent. The staff still tries their best, but during busy times, the cafe and even the restrooms can definitely use more attention. On our recent visit, we redeemed a free 8-inch chocolate mouse cake with our points. I pre-ordered it Friday for Saturday morning and noted that it was for a birthday. I arrived 10 minutes early, but still had to wait another 15 minutes just for the oval "Happy Birthday" sign. I figured ordering ahead meant everything would be ready. The cake was still good, and we continue to enjoy their pastries and baked goods. Just taking off one star because we really miss how clean, organized, and well-managed this place used to be. We definitely miss that Filipina manager!

Overall: Such a fun spot for cheesecake! Definitely worth checking out if you're a cheesecake fan…read more Parking: There's a small parking lot right by the shop, but it can fill up pretty quickly. We were able to park, but I could see it being an issue during busy times. Seating/Ambiance: The indoor area is pretty small, with just a few tables. They also have some tables outside along the side, which is nice when the weather is good. It's more of a quick dessert stop than somewhere I'd plan to hang out for a long time. Cheesecake: You can get cheesecake by the slice or in individual jars, which I thought was a cute option. They have a good variety of flavors. We tried the Turtle cheesecake and it was delicious! Rich, creamy, and definitely hit the spot. Bonus: They have a loyalty/reward where after 10 jars, you get a free jar, which is a nice incentive if you live nearby or become a regular. One suggestion: My only complaint is that I wish they had a description of what's inside each cheesecake flavor. You have to ask about the ingredients/fillings for each one, which makes it a little harder to decide when there are so many options. Everyone's very nice. You select your cheesecake & then go to the end of the counter to pay. Overall: Cute little cheesecake shop with lots of fun flavors and the option to get individual jars. Parking and seating are limited, but the cheesecake is definitely worth a visit. Would come back to try more flavors!

I tried the limited edition raspberry black sesame (6$), cookies and cream (6$) and the space in picnic? (9$, the lemon meringue, blueberry one) My favorite was the lemon meringue (9/10), then raspberry black sesame (8.7/10), then cookies and cream (6/10). The meringue was such a nice texture and the berry brightness and lemon was wonderful. The raspberry was perfectly tart in contrast with the nuttiness of the black sesame. The cookies and cream were just average to me, nothing special. Service was decent and you get to keep the jars. They have one dollar off frappes M-Thrs happy hour (3-5 i think?) I would come back to try other flavors! Makes a great gift.
