Kings Inn is one of my favorite local pubs in the village. It's very unassuming on the outside…read morewhich is why I think it's less touristy and more of a local crowd. A couple great old school bar tenders. Connor being by far the most classic and amazing at his job. Great pub to watch a match or grab a perfectly poured Guinness.

Kings Inn is a very deceiving little place. Initially tried other pubs when I moved into this…read morevillage and it was awhile before I ventured in... Had an 'old man' bar look coming from it but when I tried it out, was wishing I hadn't pre-judged and took so long to visit this place. This is a cosy pub on the main street, decent space inside with plenty of tabled seating and bar stools, of course. Has a TV so when a game is on, this is a great place to chill out watch the sports and enjoy a drink. Very typical Irish bar in terms of options, if you are looking for all the craft alternative drinks this isn't for you but it has all the usual classics Guinness, Heineken, Budweiser and then full stocked fridge with the usual bottled beers and spirits galore. I've been here and enjoyed a quiet drink with the husband but have also been here with a group of friends and have enjoyed it on all occasions. The atmosphere is really chilled and people are always welcoming. As a touristy village of course there is always the fair share of tourists sampling Guinness or checking out their Dalkey walking map which is nice sometime to give them a little tip or trick as they venture off up the coast road. This place ticks a number of boxes: - Quiet Drink with a read of the papers - Quiet Drink and catch up with a friend - Lively Drink with a group of friends - Lively Drink Watch Sports (football, gaelic, rugby, whatever your sport of choice is) Friendly staff who are always chatting with the locals and keeping the glasses full... they balance the attention well, nothing too intrusive but yet know there are there and on the ball to see the next round of drinks come timely :-)

This was a quaint little Pub in the town of Killnney. It was close to the hotel we were staying at,…read morethe Fitzpatrick Castle. The teeny tiny town was about a mile away and had a couple pubs which was surprising considering most towns in Ireland have the streets dotted with pubs. The hotel and locals said go to The Magpie and we did and had a great meal. The portions were humongous and we ordered way too much food. Of course we had to try the local version of the seafood chowder which did not disappoint as it was loaded with tons of seafood. We also got a seafood linguine. When you're surrounded by the ocean you always go for seafood! At least we do.

Excited to try the Parmesan and truffle oil chips but the chips arrived hot but soggy/soft. Oh…read morewell. Likely it was since the kitchen just opened that the oil wasn't hot enough or the chips were put into the oil still frozen/cool. So while the chips flavor was spot on this is more of a glitch than consistent problem. The the crab and crawfish cakes came out and they were cooked perfectly and very tasty. It was a light lunch as my friend and I shared the chips as a starter and then ordered starters for our meals. It was more than enough . The restaurant has a great view of the intersection and the shops looking towards Dalkey Castle. Inside it was clean and spacious as the tables were spaced apart to feel not close.

I want to do this place justice but I have to be honest with myself... Ok, 3.5 stars? Can we do…read morethat :-) This place is a located on main street Dalkey and is yet another great store stocking all the goodness of healthy food options with allergy friendly products. This place for me though is a little confusing, I dunno, they have a little bit of everything without a lot of one thing. Let me try explain this... Their Deli counter offers pre-selected combinations for you to choose from however whats on their deli selection is very limited, there is not a great amount of options making it not overly exciting to 'create your own' sandwich or roll... Considering there are other Deli options in the village, this is a little disappointing because what they do lay on, it super nice but need to go that extra step with their meat and salad options. They specialise in pre-prepared and frozen meals all high end organic ingredients with portion sizes for the lone diner or family, with add on like potato gratin, etc however for me, they have a few regular meals and they stick to them, not a lot of variety so if I'm thinking of grabbing last minute dinner, this place doesn't jump to mind cause there's just not enough variety being mixed into their meals. When I said earlier about a little bit of everything, like they a few relish/sauces in stock but might be just one flavour so again, when I'm sitting at home saying I need a sauce this place just never gets a look in. However... Let me also just spend some time on what I do REALLY like about this place! What I think is cool is during summertime I've seen them advertise in their window island picnic deals, so you can buy your sandwich and drink or maybe pick up some pastries, meat selections, etc and have them all packed to take with you on a tour to Dalkey Island so yeah, that is a drawing point and great marketing particularly in high tourist season. They have a hot drink and pastries option which is a nice treat to take with me on coastal walk and settle down somewhere along the coast and enjoy :-) They are always super friendly in here, they connect really well with customers and I know they do catering for private functions which I imagine they do really well with.
