Do you have a spine surgeon who specializes in compression fractures of the spine (t-6 and t-7) that have not healed after 6 months despite wearing a 3 point brace and physical therapy?

Hi Deborah, sorry to hear that you haven't healed yet. You are welcomed to see either Dr. Jankowski or Dr. Ozgur for a consultation on possible treatment options.

From the very beginning, Dr. Jankowski demonstrated professionalism. He took the time to and made us feel confident that my mother was in the best possible hands. Also assistant Paritash was equally outstanding, very kind, attentive, personable and always responsive. She went above and beyond to coordinate care, follow up with us, and make sure everything ran smoothly before and after the surgery. Her support truly made a stressful situation much more manageable for our family. Thanks to their dedication and teamwork, my mother received excellent care every step of the way. We deeply appreciate everything they have done. I highly recommend Dr. Jankowski to anyone needing spinal care.

However, I required a third fusion to fuse my SI Joints bilaterally, but couldn't get it approved by my insurance. I found Dr. Jankowski after two years of trying and failing to get the fusion approved by my insurance. My old doctor was unable/unwilling to appeal my insurance's denial; however, Dr. Jankowski was more than happy to help me appeal my insurance's decision as many times as necessary, since I needed the fusion so badly and had been suffering from terrible chronic lower back pain for so long. I was physically and emotionally drained by the time I found him on my Southern California Ehlers-Danlos Facebook page. I was desperate. At my first appointment, he was kind, efficient, and most importantly, very knowledgeable about my rare and complicated condition and how he could help me. He assured me that he was on my side and would fight for me to get the surgery I needed. Seeing how emotionally drained I was, his office manager, Paritash, got to work immediately on submitting everything to my insurance to appeal my surgery denial and kept me regularly abreast of all the details of my case. Dr. Jankowski personally wrote a letter detailing my case. After multiple appeals, my surgery was finally approved. When it came time for my surgery, Dr. Jankowski was very reassuring and kind. During my recovery, he was empathetic when it became more difficult to manage my pain than originally anticipated, and stayed in contact with me throughout my hospital stay. The incision from my surgery was beautifully closed, and he went the extra mile to order me collagen-based bandages since people with my condition have a propensity to heal poorly from surgeries. Paritash immediately set up my home health care and physical therapy with the physical therapist at my chosen location and was always responsive, promptly returning my phone calls and texts when I reached out. I was also more difficult to manage the drains and the amount of fluid I was putting out than originally anticipated, and when it came time to review the drains, Paritash even came in on her day off, when the office is normally closed, to remove my drains and change my bandages. It was easy to make appointments for my follow-up visits despite Dr. Jankowski being out of town for part of my recovery and the surgery being right after Christmas. The terrible pain that I had had because of my hypermobile joints caused by my hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome has almost completely gone away since having my surgery three months ago, and co Something after two months of physical therapy. My chronic back pain has almost all gone, and my quality of life is greatly improved. I am even returning to in-person work after being completely bed-bound due to my back pain and muscle spasms. Dr. Jankowski has given me my life back! I cannot recommend him more, especially for other patients with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

As a medical professional of 28 years, I understand the difference in personality and opinions that doctors can have. Dr Eng was positively awful. He was cocky, arrogant and condescending. He made little eye contact, was defensive and his bedside manner was non existent. His unprofessionalism in critiquing his colleague was beyond off putting. He lacked compassion and the ability to listen and understand. I fully understand that doctors have different personalities, opinions and styles, but I am so unsettled by him. It was a waste of the copay. I am just shocked that Hoag would employ a person of this demeanor . This is a time where I wished AI would have scribed the visit. I would love for a colleague to review. He appears very inexperienced and green in medicine. It will take a lot to make him a successful physician. UPDATE( 2 weeks later)...no follow up from office manager when requested. I guess this is just standard practice there. Had second opinion at other major medical center and was told that upon review of my MRI, they were shocked at the lack of advice that was given to me by Michael Eng,MD.

From a clinical standpoint, the outcome has been extraordinary: I have been completely pain-free since the day of surgery. I now walk more than three miles every day, have lost 30 pounds, and am in the best physical condition I've been in the past 20 years. The improvement in my mobility, strength, and overall quality of life has been profound. Dr. Melikian combines exceptional surgical skill with careful judgment and genuine care for his patients. The entire process -- from consultation to recovery -- was handled with professionalism and precision. Thank you, Dr. Melikian, for giving me back an active, pain-free life! I am forever grateful!

Dr. Mork did so much for me! The first time I had surgery I was unable to walk hardly at all…read morebecause of my back and sciatic pain and sometimes my right leg would not even work and then I couldn't stand or walk at all. All the conventional doctors and surgeons I saw didn't even have a suggestion (or care) to look into what could help fix me. (This was the result of a fall when I was 9 months pregnant and the subsequent childbirth) I did a bunch of research to see if I could find more information about my body parts that weren't working. i found Dr. Mork in 2004 when he was still in Florida. Dr Mork figured out I just needed a discectomy and a right ilium debridement. Dr Mork fixed me! I did not have to use a wheelchair anymore! I could go to the grocery store or Costco! I could go a lot of places that I couldn't go before!! 5 years later (2009) I had some foraminal canal narrowing that was causing chronic pain and he fixed that! (Other traditional back surgeons wanted me to get a fusion and they said that would guarantee my disability because discs above and below fusions are guaranteed to degenerate) Now it is 2015 and I am still as good as new! I go to trampoline parks, go on roller coasters, took a pole aerobics class, go hiking, 5k's and more! I can actually run now! It is amazing I am going to try tennis and surfing this summer. Also now the strongest pain med I ever take is ibuprofen!!! Dr. Mork is awesome and truly a blessing to this planet!!

That same night, while I was heavily sedated, I was served soup that was scalding hot and sustained burns inside my mouth, including damage to my tongue. My tongue tie was burned off. I reported this that night and then at my first post-op appointment and was told by the PA that I was not the only complaint that night. I was told they were short staffed and that it would be reported after our meeting. It was never documented. My dentist later told me I was fortunate the injury did not become infected. I have photos documenting this. The morning after surgery, I reported my pain as 10 out of 10 and asked them not to discharge me because I did not feel safe to leave. I was discharged anyway and told they needed the bed for incoming patients. In my records it states the nurse called my Dr with concerns. I was not seen prior to discharge and told to get dressed. Since April 10, 2024, I have been left with bilateral nerve damage, neuropathy that makes it difficult to walk, and muscle damage, all confirmed by EMG. I am now disabled. I finally get the hype! Dr. Erikson is SUPER knowledgeable and I literally felt and saw immediate results which was shocking. We all know shoulder injuries are complex because of all the muscles in the shoulders but he almost knew immediately what the issue was and made me laugh through the most painful parts (which was really minimal if I'm being honest). He also did an overall check and found that my back is also not in mint condition as I can see by one of my legs being shorter than the other. The way that he explained and showed what was going on and what he's trying to do made me feel so comfortable for my first adjustment. And about that massage... well the massage was DEEP - this is not your relaxing spa day but it is healing! Another thing I value about this office, aside from it being SUPER clean, is that they do not push you to spend your money. Yes, you have to pay for your treatment but there is no pressure to come more than you want to even if the Doctor recommends more. This makes me trust them even more so I'm happy to call Dr. Erikson my doctor that is going to see me through recovery! I can't wait to give an update once I'm further along in care.
