I don't know what happened but I went to see him but l had to bring in my test results before I could make a appointment so l did but didn't hear back so I called him and asked if he saw my reports and they said they sent them to him but no response so l had to go and pick up my test results and am looking elsewhere. His office is empty of patients and there are security lock on his door that you have to be buzzed in. I wonder what happened. I wish him well. read more

Dr. Binder performed spinal surgery on my dad about two years ago now. He specializes in expressing empathy for his patients but doesn't deliver on what he promises. He told my dad that he'd walk within a week. Unfortunately, my dad is far worse than he was before he had the surgery. He's falling more often and is in and out of skilled nursing facilities multiple times a year. There was no point to the surgery. Dr. Binder disabled him. He'll suffer from chronic pain until the day he dies. Dr. Binder continues to perform surgeries like these while collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars, possibly more. Dr. Binder did 2-level disc replacement surgery on my neck. He took his time explaining the procedure and even research alternative devices (that I found on the internet) that he did not use. In the end I was comfortable going with his advice for the surgery. They took care of my Mothers back years ago so I went to see him too, He then fixed my lower back and just recently, he just replaced 2 disks in my neck that I had from an old injury (it was bad) that caught up to me. So tomorrow will be two weeks since my microdiscectomy with Dr. Binder and I couldn't be happier with how everything has gone. The entire staff has been very helpful and responsive via phone and their email portal. If you need a neurosurgeon, Dr. Binder is AMAZING in my book. When I made my appointment, I was given a slot about a month later. Since I was in considerable pain, the receptionist had me send my MRI for Dr. Binder to review to see if it was an urgent matter. The next business day, the office called asking me to come in the following morning. Dr. Binder was very kind and understanding and allowed me to record our appointment because I was alone and afraid I'd miss something. He explained why I was in such terrible pain and gave me two options... I chose the surgical route ASAP to avoid any permanent nerve damage and Dr. Binder said they'd schedule it as a top priority. With insurance and everything it was still another 3 week wait. Now it's finally done and I can walk! I get to return to yoga very soon! I'm soooo happy!!! If you're in need of a microdisectomy, don't wait until you have permanent damage.... just do it and you'll be able to get back to living life ASAP. As time goes on and my back expectedly deteriorates, he will always be my top choice surgeon.There is always a possibility that surgery won't fix your problem, he doesn't lie and say it's a 100% fix, he is very honest about your options and possible outcomes. People need to realize the physical therapy needed after surgery is just as important as the initial surgery. I'm not going to say I'm 100% pain free, I'm not, but when I practice my stretching, core exercises, and overall physical health, I do get FULL 100% pain free days. Dr. Binder operated on my back twice. After that he left me laying in a hospital bed with no options for getting well. I was told after 2 strikes he was out. I felt so sorry for the patient Dr. Binder was wheeling down the hall for I suspect surgery. I know he saw me laying in my hospital bed. Dr. Binder is absolutely wonderful!!!! I would give 10 stars if possible. I had chronic neck pain for over 10 years that was not relieved with medications, physical therapy or epidural. My MRI showed severe foraminal stenosis at C5-6. I had a consultation with Dr. Binder and was so thankful to have found him. He is so kind, respectful, compassionate and informative. In addition, his office staff are friendly and helpful. I underwent a disc replacement with Mobi-C and I'm currently 2 weeks post-op. Dr. Binder is a phenomenal surgeon!!!!!!!!! Surgery was at 7:00 am and I was home by 11:00 am on the same day. And my neck pain was completely gone!!! I was so so happy. The only postoperative issues were some discomfort with swallowing (due to retracting the esophagus out of the way) that lasted 3 days and a muscle spasm at my right shoulder blade. I ate soft food for the 3 days and only needed Tylenol for pain. It's such a relief to finally be pain-free. I am forever grateful to Dr. Binder!!! read more

The most unprofessional staff I have ever dealt with in a doctors office. Cannot seem to answer pharmaceutical requests for simple refills, answer emails without capital letters beginning their sentences. Dr. Binder's surgery relieved the pain in my left arm, but created new more excruciating pain in my right by bruising my spinal chord. After this review I will be contacting my insurance carrier with a formal complaint. Very, very dissatisfied with my overall experience with this office. I was experiencing tremendous nerve and back pain stemming from the nerve being compressed at C5-6. I spoke with my D.C. (Travis Conley) what I was looking for in a neurosurgeon. I want a surgeon who performs minimally invasive procedures, but most importantly I want the best neurosurgeon. I got the recommendation to see Dr. Binder. I was very anxious the day of my first appointment, but Dr. Binder quickly eased my fears with his gentle bedside manner and simple explanations of what was wrong with my neck. It was determined that I needed surgery. I had ACDF surgery in September. The best health decision I have ever made. I have a faded scare of approximately one inch in length in the crease of my neck. Amazing! There are two things I always relay to people who ask me about the surgery: 1) When Dr. Binder introduced himself to my mother who was extremely worried the day of the surgery he said, "I'm Devin Binder." His delivery and the use of his first name rather than "I'm Dr. Binder" eased my mother's fears. He personalized the surgery. What I mean by is, he makes it feel like a team effort by everyone involved with the patient including the patient, even though we all know it is his skilled hands and brilliant knowledge that is providing 100% of the teams success. 2) I recall vividly coming out of the anesthetic and looking forward and seeing Dr. Binder. In my fogginess I remember saying to him the pain is gone. It was amazing the pain I experienced for over a year was now gone. I have never experienced something like that before. after dr. devin binder lied about not being able to do minimally invasive surgery because i had too many levels. i had to switch carrier's to hoag medical and found dr. michael gordon and he was the first doctor since 1993 who was honest and did not turn me away with my hmo! i told his p.a. about dr. binder and dr. ceverrah who left me dropping to the ground in pain and could no longer stand long denying my treatment. she said dr. michael gordon is not like that he would never turn anyone away. dr. michael gordon is my scrubb's caped superhero at newport orthopedic. the doctor's who left me crippled should be punished for lying and accepting any payments from medicare knowing they were never going to help me with the surgery i needed. read more

I had a consultation with Dr. Devin Binder back in April 2013. I work in the medical field and I was already comprehensive of what my MRI said. He still spent an entire hour with me. He did an exam, explained my MRI films to me in detail and then we discussed my options. He gave me two surgical options, but he recommended the least invasive procedure (even though its the least expensive). I decided in the beginning of July that I wanted to go ahead with the surgery. I spoke to his office manager Kelly who was wonderful. They are allowing me to go ahead without having to come back in (b/c my insurance wasn't covering any more office visits w/o being subject to my deductible). You need the Surgeon who takes your MRI home the night before just to review it one more time so he Aces this test - I mean surgery. This is Dr. Binder...he makes sure your surgery has the best outcome and God hasn't thrown him a curve ball...a little scoliosis humor! dr Binder did my original surgery 7 years ago and after a car accident 2 years ago decompressed L3 and L4 last week - sciatica gone. I am a American Veteran of the Vietnam era. I recently had a lumbar fusion a the VA Wilshire. The distance I have to travel is very difficult. It sometimes takes over 2hrs drive one way to make an appointment. I requested a neurosurgeon that was close by through my medicare so i could do my recovery locally in Orange County. Dr Devin Binder would not even let me make an appointment to discuss my needs and concerns. He flat out denied me an basic appointment. I though that doctors took an oath to help people. It looks like he is to privileged to see me and make an appointment. It's very difficult for me to drive in traffic to review my recovery. Devin Binder doesn't have the common decency to grant me an appointment. If this is his bedside manner I would stay away from this guy. He has ego issues and I haven't even met him. Stay Away!!!!! I am writing this review almost 1 year post surgery with Dr. Binder. I had disc fusion at C5-C6 and C6-C7 with Dr. Binder at Orange Coast Memorial. I am glad I found him! I used Yelp to find him so I figured I need to write a review. What stood out besides Dr. Binder's skill and knowledge of spinal and brain surgery is his manner. He was kind and he explained to me simply and quickly what he would do while looking at my MRI with me. Before finding Dr. Binder I was seeing another neurosurgeon and it was a very frustrating experience; long waits, long time between appointments, and only once did I see the surgeon, usually I saw the PA and was told to "live with it" despite me telling them that I reached the point I no longer could live with it. Just to be clear I did try everything I could to avoid surgery for about 5 years, the last year on strong pain meds it was time. Dr. Binder and his staff were so different; efficient, friendly, prompt at scheduling, getting me my documents for disability, return to work letter, etc. Not having to worry about this stuff before surgery and while recovering was a blessing. I am single and have to do it all myself, having the office work with me was so helpful. The day of my surgery Dr. Binder talked to me before I went into surgery, visited me during the day, and the next morning before I was discharged. Post surgery I have a little minor pain, but that could be because I had another major surgery (not spinal) after this. Still, no more pain meds, no more agony on long car trips or plane flights, and what I notice most is my worst day now is far better than my best day pre-surgery. Sometimes what I notice is that I don't notice anything! Which is so nice. I am happy I chose Dr. Binder. I am happy with the outcome and the attitude of the doctor and his staff made a scary time easier. read more

Dr. Binder and his staff went so far beyond what they needed to with my daughter's recent back surgery. My 33 year old daughter wasn't able to walk her last month of pregnancy and for 10 months she was in constant pain and unable to leave the house with her 10 month old baby. The last thing she wanted was to have surgery, but knew it was her only hope to have a good life with her baby and husband.
