The quality of service, the prompt response to emergencies and The entire care team being genuinely concerned about every patient in their care, make me feel so blessed and fortunate that despite of this sucker tumor in my brain and shoulder, this army of great doctors and nurses will do their best to kick this cancer out of my body. Very well run office and Dr Louis's PA was very thorough with her initial assessment of me. The Dr was very nice and quick to answer a few of my questions but seemed in a hurry and said that he couldn't help me. Not what I was looking for and no ideas for me on how to proceed going forward. I was hoping for a few options to help me with the pain I have. I would say he is good to see if you have a definitive diagnosis but not if you are searching for a diagnosis. Dr. Louis and Dr. Duma gave me back my eyesight! In late October 2024 I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor that was compressing my optic nerve, robbing me of my eyesight. In November 2024 I had a consultation with Dr. Duma, Dr. Louis' partner, to discuss my options. Unexpectedly, Dr. Duma sent me straight to the emergency room and directly into surgery with Dr. Louis. Dr. Louis was able to surgically remove 95% of my tumor. Three months after my surgery, Dr. Louis preformed Gamma Knife Surgery to address the remaining 5%. Three months after Gamma Knife Surgery I had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Louis who told me he was very pleased with my results. He told me now I only need a follow-up MRI once a year for 5-years to keep an eye on my tumor. Without Dr. Duma recognizing the severity of my vision loss and Dr. Louis agreeing to immediately perform surgery, I would be blind in my left eye. My eyesight has been slowly improving and is now nearly completely restored. Dr. Louis and Dr. Duma are both kind and compassionate doctors. Dr. Louis was very reassuring and put me at ease. Six years ago on Jan 29th, Dr Louis removed a meningioma brain tumor from my left temporal lobe. Five hour craniotom​y! I am still symptom-free with no problems. It truly is as if it never happened. If I could give zero stars or negative I would. Dr Louis lacks empathy, compassion, is abrasive, has no bedside manner and his staff is unresponsive to any calls or messages urgent or not. His staff will try to answer important urgent clinical concerns without him even seeing the patient. The nurse practitioner attempted to answer questions and was not even aware of the situation clinically. As a clinician myself I could see how unorganized they are with complete lack of communication or respect for their patients. I was told "this is not a hotel and I don't work for the hospital" once I finally spoke (not see) the supposed physician Dr Louis. I was told that "I have no idea why my office hasn't called you back but I would tell them not to if I knew it was you" is that even something a neurosurgeon should ever say to any patient. I will be filing a complaint to the board of ethics. Unfortunately the patients suffer while Dr Louis delegates everything to his PA, NP or staff who lack the common decency to reply to messages themselves. I hope all the positive reviews his family has written get read with a bit a skepticism bc my experience has been horrible. I thought doctors took an oath to do what's best for their patients. I first met Doctor Louis February 3, 2020. I did not know then, that he was to become my hero in many ways. I had recently been diagnosed with a brain aneurysms. I was dealing with a lot of anxiety, so scared and uncertain of my health. Within minutes of our first consultation I started to feel less stress as Dr. Louis explained in a comforting and professional way, with pictures of the MRI, where the aneurysms was located and how it would be treated by removal. He used terminology that I could understand as well as my husband and friend who had accompanied me. He spent time with us, answering all of our questions, even when we all would ask the same question. We never felt rushed and he never swayed from his unlimited patience. I left that day with full confidence that surgery would be a complete success and I was going to be OK. On February 25, 2020, I was Dr. Louis's last surgery of the day. After surgery, most surgeons will tell the waiting family and friends the results, while the patient was still in recovery, then be on their way. Finding Dr. Robert Louis was one of the best experiences dealing with almost any business that I had ever had. More importantly, this man is God sent! He is the most sincere, caring, straightforward, attentive, considerate, and even comforting practitioner I have ever encountered in any business, medical institution, or customer service related establishment.......... Ever! I was diagnosed with a Pituitary Adenoma that had become a Pituitary Apoplexy. Due to a misdiagnosis and being told (after I personally requested imaging for this specific condition) that there was "nothing up there", my health declined rapidly. I saw seven different doctors in the meantime and diagnosed with multiple conditions: Stress, Migraines, multiple Degenerative Muscular Conditions, Kidney diseases, MS, Diabetes... the list goes on. Things progressed to the point of some vision loss and after a quick google search (Thanks Google) I returned to one of the few doctors I trusted from he litany I had previously visited, requested imaging, and explained why. He said "of course" and submitted the referral. The tumor was found, I declined each of the referrals I received, took matters into my own hands, did some research, found a few neurosurgeons, and that's where Doctor Louis came in. Firstly, finding a Neurosurgeon is pretty difficult and overwhelming. All appointments were months out, even when I expressed the nature of my health. Dr. Louis was my last call due to the fact that he is 40 miles from me. Upon contacting them, the several month wait was unfortunately the same (about 3 1/2 months out). However, after I expressed what was taking place with my symptoms, the nurse (Miriam) said, "You know what... I'll fit you in on Monday. Just come in at 3:00 and we'll make it work." WHAT????? Monday was only four days away!!! Once I actually went, their office was considerably neat and clean, things seemed to run an an organized fashion, and (most importantly) people greeted you with a smile! Dr. Louis explained things simply, reviewed my images with me, explained ALL possible outcomes (good and bad), and exactly what would need to take place. They arranged a date for surgery, and even helped take care my other appointments. Once the tumor started to effect my vision, I called, the nurse spoke with Dr. Louis, they called me back and stated that Dr. Louis didn't feel safe with the original date and moved it up. They even helped make all of the arrangements with the numerous appointments required to clear me before surgery, and securing new dates with the hospital and the ENT. After 10 years of a diagnosis with spinal stenosis, my pain was growing worse and I needed surgery. Truly a life changing procedure. Dr. Louis performed a lumbar fusion surgery for me 3 months ago. I was hesitant to go down this road as Ive heard mixed reviews for the outcomes of this procedure. I was finally out of non-surgical options with extreme right leg sciatica anytime my spine was vertical (walking, standing, lying flat). I'm a active early 50's male, and my quality of life was severely affected. Well, Dr. Louis had me walking the day after surgery. I walked every day thereafter, got off pain meds and started PT in about 3 weeks, and have been sciatica free since. Now, at 3 months, I'm back at the gym, riding my mountain bike, swimming, and even (cautiously) back on my motocross bike. In addition to being an amazing technical neurosurgeon, Dr. Louis is extremely personable. He takes the time to foster genuine communication with detailed explanations and a genuine enthusiasm for answering questions. I knew that I had chosen a good surgeon when other hospital staff expressed the high regard they have for Dr. Louis. I'm writing this article to Thank and highly recommend Dr. Robert Louis. I'll try to keep it brief, as I could easily go on and on about how elated I am to finally be free from extreme sciatic nerve pain. My pain was the result of a lifetime of general body "abuse" and has been slowly getting worse for several decades; so slowly that I really didn't notice it much for the first 10-15 years. But, recently, over the past 5-6 years it was becoming more regular and pronounced. Finally, in the past year the pain became constant and unbearable (suicidal). Since the pain felt "ghost like", I really didn't think anything could be done or even diagnosed, so I never even went to see a doctor. Finally, I had no choice, and went to see Dr. Louis. With a high-powered MRI, he confirmed I had a bulging disc at L4/L5, which was pressing directly on my Sciatic Nerve. Dr. Louis sent me to a Pain Specialist as well as Physical Therapy, opting to try non-surgical approaches first. This resulted in some improvement, but eventually it became clear that surgery was necessary. Dr. Louis performed a minimally invasive (although quite painful) surgical procedure to clean up and remove some of the bulge and eliminate the pressure on the Sciatic Nerve. After surgery the Sciatic Nerve pain was 80-90% gone immediately. After about a week of recovery the Sciatic Nerve pain was completely gone and has not returned. I'm ecstatic and almost in disbelief that I'm free from pain for the first time in I don't remember how long. I can sincerely and without reservation suggest and recommend that you seek out Dr. Louis' services if you are experiencing Sciatic Nerve pain (or any back/neurological pain for that matter). When I found out that I had a brain tumor, I was terrified. I was so blessed that it was benign, but it was tricky because it wrapped itself around my carotid artery and was displacing my optic nerve. I was diagnosed with a planum sphenoidale meningioma which was also compressing my optic nerves and involved my cerebral arteries and pituitary stalk.
