The staff are always really nice and tend to know some of the "regulars". At least, I've heard them address people by name at times while I've been there, so I'm guessing they must be frequent customers. Regardless, I always feel welcome at this liquor store, whereas I've felt judged and "stared down" at other locations in the past. I've never found any of that uncomfortableness here, though! They may not have the largest selection of liquor, but they have more than just the basics and it's super easy to pop in and out on a whim. Parking isn't usually as issue, but if you hit it at a busy time, there's a chance you might have to part in the adjacent lot. It's happened to me before, but it's certainly not the end of the world. They have a solid variety of bourbons, and they stock all of my favorite vodkas, so I'm a fan.

My favorite thing about Total Wine is that every time I go I'm able to sample a few things before making purchases. The problem is I go in for one bottle and come out with 3 or more. Since moving here there have been all kinds of crazy top-tier drops: Cantillon, rarer 3F's, Fidens, Trillium, in addition to ongoing deliveries of highly rated beers (you're practically guaranteed to find a handful of beers rated 4.2+ on Untappd any time you walk in here). There's a good mix of local and non-local beers as well. I find it can be detrimental to focus TOO much on local beer. I also think they've nailed the size, both in terms of inventory and physical space, because product seems to move at an ideal pace. I've rarely come across too-old beer, which happens quite often in many beer shops. This is THE place to get beer in the area.

I needed to find a place where I could pick up another case of Budweiser and ditch all the empties. I had to pee too. I saw Friends' Mart coming up and pulled in at a high rate of speed. I avoided the people standing around by the pumps at the Valero and parked on one of the bushes. It may be time to put new brakes on the ol' Wagoneer. "Friends' Mart". I could use a friend or two. I went around the side of the building to take a leak. I noticed half of a cigarette on the ground, so I picked it up and smoked the rest of it. It was a Maverick and it was delicious. After my smoke, I went in and grabbed a case of Budweiser. Friends' Mart has a great selection of Budweiser. I was down to my last sock full of change, but fortunately, had enough to cover the Budweiser and a lotto scratcher. I used all my change, but found a nickel in the parking lot that I could use on my scratcher. The ticket wasn't a winner. I dumped my empties in a near by convertible Sebring and took off. Even though the ticket wasn't a winner, I had 24 more Budweisers from Friends' Mart. I am a winner.

Apparently the bourbon doesn't come in often so it was on special display. The sales person also told me if i buy two half size bottles, its $4 cheaper and the same volume of bourbon as the large. Find it unfortunate that Brown Delivery drivers don't comply with regulations regarding the use of…read moremasks. While waiting on a pickup order at Maria's Restaurant in New Kent at lunch 9-18-20 the Brown driver was lingering around the cashier station with no regard to others. He was not wearing a mask and was clearly in violation of the notice prominently displayed on Maria's entrance door about the use of masks. He was also violating the Virginia guidelines that state "Patrons may wait for takeout in the lobby area, but they must maintain six feet of physical distance between parties. " I drink your products so encourage your drivers to do the right thing.
