BEWARE of selling to this store. I had a good experience the first time I brought in clothes to sell, so after spring cleaning I brought in a couple boxes of the best stuff my kids have grown out of. Thirty percent of it was new items with tags on that they'd never worn before outgrowing. I also brought in a bag of toys and one of books.
While waiting for them to evaluate my stuff I had a look at their selection- I say this because I personally observed the books and toys there were not in great condition and not very clean. I couldn't find anything in the toy section I'd even buy for my kids, and books were torn, missing sections, etc. A large number of the clothes on their racks also had stains.
None of this would be relevant really, as this is a used clothing store, except it made the treatment I was given by the staff, who evidently didn't want to take the time to look at my boxes, more shocking. They rejected all but a couple items that were on the top of a box, and the manager actually got in my face and raised her voice at me, claiming the clothing wasn't washed, and that it stunk from being in storage, and it was all too filthy for them to even go through. This was because I dared question their decision to reject everything, including new and nearly new items from very high end brands (I only brought high end clothes to the store, knowing what makes money in consignment and what doesn't). She and another girl loudly repeated several times their comments that everything I brought was too filthy to even be touched by them. Half the store at least could hear them and it was so shameful I left crying.
Let me underscore- they were dishonest and rude to the point of treating me in a way that felt dehumanizing. The clothes were freshly cleaned and had just come out of my children's' closets with just a couple exceptions. The toys and books were all in at least as good condition as what you'll find if you shop there. There was absolutely no "stench" as the manager claimed. I smelled the clothes in the store in front of her (no smell at all to them) and again when I got home (in case I missed it while being sneered at and mocked publicly for my filthy clothes- still no smell). Unless the management were changed at that store, I would absolutely never shop or sell there again . It's not so much that they didn't want to buy the clothes I brought. They couldn't be bothered to actually go through the boxes, their choice, I guess. Maybe just don't claim you buy clothing if you can't be bothered to actually do it. But if they'd had the civility to treat me politely, or at least not like a filthy animal, the way they made me feel, it would have made all the difference. There are other consignment shops. I'd advise anyone to stay far away from this one. read more
