I won't be coming back. I used to drive all the way from Stockton just to shop at this store because I really enjoyed it. This time, I came in looking for a baby walker. There were two walkers sitting on the front counter with price tags on them, so naturally I asked to purchase one. I was told they weren't for sale because they belonged to the owners and were for their kids. If they're not for sale, why are they displayed at the front of the store with price tags where customers would assume they're available? On top of that, the store was very cluttered and disorganized. It also seems like much of the clothing is now just SHEIN merchandise, which was disappointing. I've been here multiple times throughout the years...I hadn't been in a couple years but went back a few times recently in the last few months and I have to say the customer service is not good at all, there is a older woman that is always standing behind the counter holding her child (the last 3 times I've been here) always giving nasty looks , a younger woman working that is extremely rude and unhelpful anytime you try to ask her questions. On a previous visit the younger woman and another younger employee were openly talking bad about people and laughing about it. There is a man that works there that seems like he hates his job I've tried to make small talk while buying items and he just looks extremely uncomfortable and angry... I hadn't been to Once Upon a Child in a while, so I decided to stop in and give it another try. The store is decent if you're looking for basic items like pajamas or used kids shoes, especially if you're hoping to save a little money. That said, nothing really stood out as an amazing find this time. The selection was just okay, and I didn't leave feeling especially excited about anything I saw. Everything on the racks (Atleast in our size range) was very average, and the deals were just okay. The toughest part is that the place is so packed with clothing, that it can be overwhelming for some. I was hesitant to come here because of all the negative reviews, but after making the trip from Stockton, I'm glad I did! The prices are pretty reasonable, and the selection of baby clothes is endless. I spent about $85 and was able to get a good amount of clothes for all three of my babies. The store is very organized--yes, it's packed, but for how much they have, it's actually impressive how tidy everything is. Clearance is 30% off the tag price. I do wish it were at least half off since it is clearance. Customer service was good. Just make sure to bring your own shopping bags because they don't provide any. Overall, I'll definitely be back. They wouldn't even look at my stuff because they are so full already. They didn't care that I drove 40 minutes to get there. Such a waste of precious gas and my time. There is no indication on their website that they might turn you away. And they don't tell you when you call. They were also somewhat rude about it. Don't waste your time here. If you have nice stuff, even extremely nice stuff, take it to a charity that you believe in and donate it to them. Then get a receipt and claim it as a tax deduction. And feel good about giving your very nice children's things to those less fortunate than you. Don't waste your time trying to get peanuts through this store. I went into the Tracy once upon a child today to drop off a huge bin of baby girl clothes from infant to 2T, clean, washed, and in good condition. The staff started going through my bin while I was still inside the store shopping. I spent a little over $100 in their store and then left only to be called back an hour later to pick up my offer. They pretty much gave me all my clothes back and didn't even go through my bin. When I asked why a lot of these clothes weren't accepted, the man working there said the outfits needed to be put together because there was too many clothes. Something that could've been communicated before hand. No biggie, a lot of people lack common sense, and communication skills so I put a few of the outfits together and brought it back into the store because I wanted to clarify what they accepted and didn't accept. The young girl in there had a smug ass attitude. Very rude. And I'm a pretty understanding person. Just some advice for the future, basic customer service skills. Communicate to the customers on what's expected. I could've put those outfits together in 20 minutes if that was the issue. Change your smug ass attitude, and be a little more helpful and grateful for your sorry ass job you have, life is short. I would never step foot in that store again to purchase anything or try to sell. I didn't even care about how much money I got back. Learned about this place last year and I was very excited because I had a lot of babies stuff that Goodwill wasn't taking. I usually give them to family/friends but eventually that wasn't an option for me to use anymore. So learning about this place was a great alternative and happy to get a couple bucks for them. Fyi, they do pick through the items you bring to the store so don't expect that they'll buy every item you brought. My last 2 visits, they've been way more busier than my previous trips, so they'll have you fill up a form and call you once they get through with it. I LOVE Once Upon A Child and live about 10 min from one in my home town. I happened to be doing something near the Tracy location so I decided to visit, during my visit I greeted the employees and asked if they had any deals at this time. Yes Halloween was 50% off which is awesome (same as my home town). So my friend and I are shopping and thrilled that Christmas items are out. I am gathering Christmas items for my daughter when the same employee comes to tell me "Christmas items are not for sale until Saturday" THEN WHY WOULD CHRISTMAS ITEMS BE OUT ON THE SALES FLOOR IF THEY ARE NOT FOR SALE???? I said, what? That's strange, why would they be out here if they are not for sale (and I was thinking, why would you not MENTION THAT WHEN YOU TOLD ME ABOUT THE HALLOWEEN DISCOUNTS?). Honestly I think this is RIDICULOUS and very off putting. Store is also cluttered as heck, stuff EVERYWHERE! I don't think I should have to move strollers and bassinets just to get your store provided cart down an isle. I was shocked at the prices of baby clothes. $7.50 for a shirt without much life left in it and that's without pants?!?! Why not go to TJ Maxx or Ross and get a brand new set for a few dollars more? They did have a section that was onesies 10 for $10 which I didn't go through because I was looking just for shirts but if the tops in the 6/9 months boys section was anything to go off of... They do have a fair amount of walkers, jumpers, strollers, and high chairs but the few items I asked to see were really dusty/gunky- I was like "They can't even give it a wipe down before selling it?...". Many of the books appeared to be in good condition. Overall I was not impressed; I don't think I'll be returning. Update: Was trying to find stuffed animals at a good price and after calling around I though I'd give O.U.A.C. a second chance. Was very happy with the availability of stuff animals. If I could give no stars I would. I've been shopping at this location for at least 5 years. I brought my daughter in to find a few items. As we were looking through her size an infant mat or toy with 3 wooden arches fell off the top of the shelf above the clothing and hit me in the head. I'm a 40 year old woman but when something hits a person hard enough their first reaction is to cry. And this hurt, I was trying to breathe to stop myself from outwardly reacting. I now have a knot on my head. Allen decided, instead of ensuring I was ok or if I needed assistance, to inform me that they prefer if customers ask for help to get items off the shelves. 1) I wasn't touching the highly shelved items. I was shifting through the clothing on the hangers. 2) They need to clean up their store and ensure pieces are securely placed to prevent such issues 3) There are no notices stating high placed items require assistance so they are liable here. I'm not petty enough to take this further than a crappy review. But I'm definitely pissed enough over the fact that instead of being a human Allen decided to blame the customer for his lack of organization and haphazard product placement in his store. Halloween costumes are so freakinc expensive...everywhere other than here! Thank goodness I discovered this place because we were able to find not one, not two, but THREE costumes that double as play costumes. And get this, all under $9.00. If that doesn't blow your mind I don't know what will. I've never sold anything here so I can't attest to that. The space is a but cramped, however there's a lot to discover for really good prices. I saw a good selection of bouncers, baby gates, and even bikes for sale. My baby is now 4 months and we have a lot of stuff BRAND NEW that him and his brother never used. High end stuff too such as an Ubbi Diaper Pail, Snuza baby monitor($130 retail) , pregnancy pillow, and a LOT OF high brand clothes with tags still(Air Jordan, Little Me, GAP) I also had a Dream on Me bed side sleeper only used for 2 months and looked brand new(about $140 retail) All this with some gently used clothes, I didn't get what I expected, not even half. drove away feeling totally ripped off. My daughter and I went to this store last weekend for the first time. While their selection and pricing were good. The store was extremely disorganized and they do not give you a reasonable amount for the clothes or items you sell to them. Your better off selling through an online site. They had many garbage bags with clothes and toys on the floor that they were going through and the associates behind the counter where you check out at could barely move around. The customer service was also very unprofessional. I am only giving it 3 stars instead of 2 because they really do have good pricing if you are on a budget and a pretty good selection. The people at the registers are just rude! When I came in there was one cashier logging things into the computer, another cashier looking a mess with seemed to her kids running around the store and another telling everyone else what to do while the owner or manger was just pushing a stroller around. He never greeted me and the vibe was already off once you get into the store. The cashiers were just talking about someone in the back which was an employee. They give no explanation on what they take. I came in all excited to sell my things and they only took like 8 things out of 3 bags I had. The cashier said my clothes were stained but that was a lie because I went through my bag 2x before bringing them and washed all my items. The store is hard to navigate since things are everywhere and it's dirty. I won't go back. My experience was just not pleasant. read more

I've been here a few times to sell and they're pretty good about what they take. Just make sure you bring your items in sturdy bins because they will not accept anything in bags. I love this store and can always find great clothing for my 7 grandkids. I wanted to get Easter dresses for my 2 grand girls and found exactly what I needed. One was only $3.50 and the other was brand new with tags on it for only $9.50! It had an original price tag of $32. Susan, the owner is so nice and I have also sold clothing to them. It's fine to buy from but not sell. They are SUPER selective on what you give them. They only want Disney books which I thought was weird and specific clothes. If you have any Disney clothes they won't take them even if they're in great condition, only seems like they want cat and Jack and that's it. At that point you'd be better off reselling clothing from threadup because they'll take anything even if it's "faded" or "well loved" as they put it. read more

I only said this because I tried to sell my gently used baby items in high retail value hardly even used by my baby, and they denied it because there were a few spots that I missed too wipe down, I'm not talking about stains just very minimal baby mess they said they couldn't take it on my baby dome that I used once there was a spot of dry gerber food I think not even the size of a dime they didn't take it!!! I would have given a half star but there is no way of doing that. I have been to the location in the bay area and Modesto and after going to this place not once, not twice but THREE TIMES!! It's the WORST. The first time I took items they took a pretty good decent amount, but did leave behind 4 items that still had the origianl tags on them. The 2nd time they took less than half and told me that there were stains and too worn out. Which i made sure to check before i took them in. Ok oh well. The third time i took them in they took three outfits. I couldn't believe it. They said the same thing about the stains. So i asked , OK, show me there these stains are. She actually refused to show me. And again they left ite.s with the original tags o. Them. There were only two outfits but REALLY!!! At the other locations i have always had a good experience. Also notice there were quite abit of clothing items that seemed alittle overly priced. And a fea items I have found tjat had some stains, litght ones but they were noticable (wish I had found those when I went in tje 3rd time). Bottom line: I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone. But I'll let you be the judge of that and make the decision of providing business for them. read more

I've attempted to sell here twice. They are extremely picky and I am seeing that it depends on the buyer. They want damn near new, and swear the clothes you bring are stained.... but yet by looking around the store, you see things that 1- have names of previous owners on them 2- are slightly stained... Barbies are ragged whatever. But if you search you may find some goods, I've found some good clothes for reasonable prices. You just gotta look. read more

I love this store. I go in to get rid of my toddler clothes, and he always finds gems(toys) that's are in amazing condition. Love that I can get discounted toys AND get rid of clothes at the same time. I love how they explain why they didn't buy a certain item from you. I always see people writing reviews like they got played out there money. Every time I bring my basket of clothes I'll always get offered about $75-$100. Not bad at all. I'm honestly doing it because no one wants to travel and pick these free toddlers clothes up. I will definitely be back because in all my years of being a mom.......
