Well, Well, Well.....As I was driving downtown this afternoon I passed by The Owl Box. Color me surprised to see they had closed. While I never like to see a small business shuttered, I am going to gloat a bit. I have shopped here many times. I love all the tchotchkes they have. The Lord knows I do not need any of the things they sell there. But I love that silly shop. I have spent more money than I care to admit. The last time I shopped there I was told that they don't like people like me because I am a constitutional conservative. Also am vocal about it. First amendment and all. The older woman that worked there, not the owner, said I was the wrong type of person to shop there and told me to never come back. I heeded her words. I never did go back. This is a conservative town in the center of a giant liberal s@$t jacuzzi called California. The owl box is such a cute place with lots of goodies . After hearing how cute this shop was in downtown tracy I had to find out for myself. I took my daughter with me as we walked downtown and as we walked there were so many items that were eye catching , unique and lovely . I soon realized unfortunately that everything was so over priced . As an example I couldn't imagine paying 40 dollars for a stuffed animal . I don't know in my opinion prices could definitely use some adjustments. read more

The woman who helped me was really sweet. This is a cute little shop and I especially love anywhere that has seasonal and holiday decor and items. They carry Johanna Parker and Bethany Lowe; which, for me, are very sought after brands that I usually have to order online. My only qualm is that their prices are noticeably higher than similar shops that carry those artists/brands. read more

Careful with sale items! They sell OXIDIZE jewelry! Their clothes are overpriced because it unravels the moment you walk out. And you can find most of their decor at Marshall's. When I went to them to tell them about the necklace being oxidized they said "nothing we can do since it's in sale." As if it's my fault they're selling TOXIC necklaces. Ps. You're supposed to support small business, but how can you if they don't even care about you, just their profits. Go to Mia Bella's you'll find way more affordable and cute stuff there. read more

I shopped at The Owl Box for the first time about a couple days before Christmas and I'm glad I did! I was very impressed to see that we had such a nice boutique store in Tracy like the ones I've been to in Livermore. I originally went in just to see if I could find something for my mom and quickly spotted a pair of stylish gloves that I knew she'd like. One of the sales associates (Rachel I believe) was very sweet and inviting right off the bat. Shopping during the holidays was already stressful enough, especially cutting it so close to Christmas, so I really appreciated her friendly demeanor. She also offered to start a pile for my items behind the counter so I could have free hands to shop and I ended up buying nearly $200 worth of gifts! On top of the gloves for my mom I found an elegant and dainty pair of green earrings for my grandmother, a bread box and friendship charm for one of my girlfriends, and a small fondue pot for my other girlfriend. When I was being rung up by the other sales associate I signed up with their rewards program because I knew I'd definitely be shopping here again. She also wrapped up all the gifts for me and labeled them so all I had to do was put them under my tree. I'll be coming back again for sure, thanks! read more

I stopped in this morning to pick up a gift for a bridal shower. I found the perfect gift, and I also found some STEALS at the sidewalk sale. The Owl Box carries wonderful books and there were $5 ones outside along with a bunch of other goodies. I ended up with several bags full of Christmas gifts. With too many bags to carry, one of the women walked me out to my car more than a block away! You definitely don't see that kind of service anywhere! I absolutely love this store! I've been going to downtown for years but I never noticed this cute shop until last summer! I instantly fell in love with the items they carry. As I browse, I see an item and I instantly think of someone specific which makes it such a great store to buy gifts from! Rachel is always kind and helpful. Huge rave to The Owl Box. A few weeks ago I was shopping downtown with my mom and she saw something in there with a verse that was read at hers and my dads wedding. I had been struggling to find them a gift so I knew I had found it when she pointed that out. I was buying something else and discreetly told the two ladies I wanted to also buy that but I would come back for it. They quickly found the item on their computer and rang me up. After months of Pinterest and YouTube research, I was finally ready to pull the trigger on a couple of chalk paint projects. I had a work event near Tracy today and called ahead to the Owl Box to confirm they carried Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in the colors I wanted, after finding their shop listed on Annie Sloan's website. This is such the cutest shop with everything from the paint I was looking for in addition to; knick knacks, gifts, crafts, books and many other items. My eyes were darting around and trying to take it all in as I was greeted by the most welcoming person ever at the front entrance. She noticed my wondering eyes and asked how she could help. Just so happens that she was the same person who'd answered when I called earlier and she remembered what I'd asked for. I failed to get the person's name who helped me (shame on me) but she was soooooo knowledgeable of AS paints and techniques which helped me tremendously and stopped me from making a big mistake (opting for white wax in lieu of clear wax). If you're an AS chalk paint newbie like me (or pro), then this is the place for you. Not only did they have ceramic owls painted in each of the AS colors on display, they also had swatches showing the impact of the dark, clear and white wax on each color which was beyond helpful. Came in today to check out what they had as it was my aunts birthday and I needed to get her a gift. Such a cute boutique with lots of different things...definitely something for everyone in here! They had a delicious jam at the register to sample. Hand poured candles all smelled amazing I might have to go back and get one for myself.
