The first and only time I've done SUP yoga was with OnBoardSUP, and I've since been dying to return. As someone with no prior SUP experience and minimal yoga skills, the workout was challenging and fun. There were certainly a few "oh shit" moments, but I didn't fall in the water. It was an amazing workout, and I definitely was sore for a few days after! I went with a large group of ladies for a birthday, where our group and the larger class had an array of SUP and yoga experience. We suited up with our cotton layers and life vests and then paddled out of the pier area to a small cove where the water was much calmer. We even saw a few sea lions pop their heads up along the way! Paddling out was easy, however controlling my weight on the anchored SUP was hard! I had a bit of trouble with my anchor's rope being too long which made me drift away from the group a few times so I wish the instructors would have came to check on that a bit more for us newbies. That was my only small hiccup in the experience. By the time we finished the yoga, the water became significantly more rocky in the channel leading back to where we started. OnBoard provided those of us who were too exhausted and scared to paddle back with a boat to ride in. Definitely appreciated and glad they take safety first! No one fell in the water on the way to the cove and doing the yoga, so I definitely didn't want to fall off the board on the last few paddles back to land. I can only hope I stay as dry on my second class! read more

Super fun and unique activity! I had never done paddle boarding before, so I was a little apprehensive, but the instructors were very helpful and reassuring. My friend and I did the America's Cup Village class and it was such an amazing experience! We're looking forward to trying out the other classes soon! A little advice: Bring a towel and a change of clothes! Although we didn't fall in (thankfully!!), we did get a little wet from wakes breaking over the boards, and our feet got a little muddy from getting in and out of the water at the shore. I really enjoyed my experience with the paddleboard yoga class! It was such an amazing experience to do yoga on the board and to be in contact with the sea and sun. Learning the basics of board paddling was an added bonus. It was a great new challenge and I was pleased that my core strength and balance were tested but I didn't even have any close calls with falling off the board. Evan was a great teacher and provided really good instructions for body alignment/adjustment in the poses. I would definitely like to take another paddleboard yoga session here. read more

I arranged a private class for a work group team event, and everyone had an AWESOME time. Lots of laughs and challenging, but fun yoga. Leigh was a great instructor and was extremely accommodating for both the beginners and the yoga pros in our class. She was also very accommodating during the booking and very flexible and easy to work with. I'd say this is a great class for anyone who is active, yoga experience not required. Wonderful way to spend a sunny afternoon. Would highly recommend as a group event or a solo activity. :) Thanks Leigh! read more

I was really looking forward to loving this experience but as it turns out, I will not be going back. I don't recall who was teaching last Sunday, but I do recall feeling unsupported, and frankly, unsafe with some of the pose requests she called out. Asking a group of beginner SUP yogis to do crow pose on the board felt unnecessarily stressful and was almost amusing. I would have appreciated if she offered a modified step leading up to the full expression of the pose for people who are not able to do crow...on a paddleboard. Or at least recognize that this is not something everyone will be able to achieve and allow us feel okay about that. But my favorite? When this teacher asked a group of 5 beginners to do HEADSTAND. She started appropriately, asking if any of us had headstands in our practice. But then she was SHOCKED when we said we didn't. "Come on, really?? No one?!" As a yoga instructor myself, this class shaming is a major no-no. But more importantly, it is dangerous to suggest people do headstand when they don't have experience doing it. One guy enthusiastically said he'd "try it!" Ok, MAYBE if there was an assistant who could spot him and an instructor who could offer some well-verbalized prep and guidance. But there was no wall to kick up on, no one (willing or able) to spot us. We're on a shaky paddleboard and this instructor is going to allow this new guy that she's never seen practice before to flippantly try it?...He'll break his neck! No. It was all kinds of wrong. She needed to convey that this is an advanced skill that should be taken seriously. It shows that this teacher was unable to adapt her teaching style to the group at hand/offer a more supportive experience. The experience was not all bad. It's a fun novelty to do yoga on a stand-up paddleboard and really nice to be on the water. However, those two factors have little to do with the company or this particular instructor. read more

WHAT an experience. Nothing quite like being on the clear water early in the morning to get your yoga practice in. One class and I was hooked. The instructors are very knowledgeable in more areas than just yoga, and the class ran like a well oiled machine. read more

So fun! I've been twice through class pass and can't wait to go more! Both times I went to different locations in the water for class(one out in the middle and the other close to a private beach due to wind). The instructor is great at knowing tides/winds/etc to determine how the class should go and will make you feel comfortable from The start. Both classes have had different flows and poses. It's more beginner moves, but taken to a whole new level since you're on a board. It's Such a cool combo of being totally relaxed out in the ocean and also a kickass workout. Also...Nobody fell off either time and both times we had decent waves,wind and movement. I had a few close calls, but you'll be fine! I'm no advanced yogi! Definitely Give this a try!!! read more

Sup Yoga is one of the coolest outdoor activities I have ever done! The group I paddled out with we're all first timers and had hesitations at first but five minutes in felt comfortable. The instructor was patient with us and gave wonderful feed back! I was terrified I was going to fall into the bay but didn't. I can't wait to go again! Do it!!! read more

A friend and I took the SUP yoga class on Mother's Day morning. It was both of our first time doing this and it was so much fun! I was a bit hesitant as it was even my first time ever paddle boarding let alone doing yoga on it. It definitely takes yoga to another level as I can see how my body works out a lot of core muscles used for balance and stability as the paddle board moves around during the moves. I can't wait to take this class again next time I am in Sausalito. The 360 views were absolutely stunning & breath taking. I had an absolutely amazing time! At the end of class, our little ones and husbands came to bring us flowers and balloons. So sweet and a perfect touch to a fantastic Mother's Day morning! read more

I have been wanting to try this class for a long time through ClassPass, but it's always full. Now I know why. Even in cold, less than ideal conditions, it was an awesome way to spend the morning. It was my first time doing stand up paddle, and the water was a bit rough at times, but Leigh and Arline were super patient and so helpful. Doing yoga on the water was blissful. This is a fitness & yoga class like no other. Once you get on the board and paddle out into the Bay you are instantly transported to the ultimate "gym with a view". I really enjoy the instructors and there is always a great group of people in the classes. I especially like testing my balance in the yoga classes (it is so much more challenging on a board). Every time I drive over the bridge from San Francisco to take these classes I think to myself "why don't I do this more often". This is truly an experience anyone would enjoy. I'm bummed to write this, but when we went back recently for SUP yoga, we were disappointed. There was no paddling around, the yoga seemed short and disjointed (I think it was the owner who told the instructor to add another asana when the instructor was starting to end the class). Class started late and just as we got the hang of practicing on water, the class was over. The instructor was not as good as the male instructor we had last year. Also, all of our boards were pretty close together (despite our best efforts to separate them), which also took away from the experience. I hope they turn this around because it can be really quite fun and a great experience! read more
