Maverick fuel stop while traveling through Erath, Louisiana on my way to New Iberia for a day trip…read more Located right off LA14 this was a quick in and out stop. The pumps were well maintained and the tap to pay worked flawlessly the fuel prices were competitive, I did not go inside being everything worked perfectly at the pumps including the receipt dispenser. I did snap a photo of the old pay phone located on a pole next to the store's sign, it did have a phone line attached to it although I didn't see if it was still in service I probably wouldn't know how to operate it anyways - pretty cool and definitely nostalgic...

I found this cute little station and convenient store just off the highway so I pulled in and filled the tank. The prices were extremely competitive and Exxon is definitely a brand I have come to trust. I love shopping these local independent businesses while traveling verses the larger national brands. The fuel island and pump equipment was well maintained which made for a great fueling experience - I did not need to go inside so I didn't have any interaction with the staff here but it's obvious from the exterior they really take pride in this business...

I love the nostalgia…read more Gas was decently prices, everything was clean, and it's conveniently located near the freeway! Diesel fuel was also priced well! It's nice to see this place still up and running, especially with so many gas stations located at the interstate entrance, you wonder how they can all compete. I heard there's another one in development actually. But this one is definitely holding up! The prices were lower than the others, which shocked me. The worker inside was friendly, and the area is super safe. There are a variety of snacks and drinks and toiletries in case you need to do some small shopping. Might have to start getting gas here more often when I'm in town.

In my opinion it has a IGA vibe which I liked, it's very clean and organized and the staff here was very friendly and welcoming. The prices seemed to be somewhat competitive, but these days who really knows what competitive really means, I noticed some item seemed like a real bargain and other made me roll my eyes. There was plenty of parking available close to the entrance and entering and exiting the parking lot was simple onto S State Street - I did notice the shopping carts were very well maintained, clean and the wheels had no issues and very smooth. This is definitely a store I'd return too, the bananas, cantaloupes, apples and pears were full of flavor, fresh and delicious. I think the staff here approached us at least a half dozen times asking us if there was anything they could help us find and all greeted us with a big smile even though they all seemed busy stocking shelves or organizing the products - this is a real hometown gem...

Everyone was super friendly and i just love supporting small businesses! I am a sucker for baked goods so stopped by 3 bakery booths and everything was so good. Lucias Bakehouse was my number 1, their donuts....omg. I also grabbed candles from the moonlit path, dog treats from PJs jerky and designs and garlic olive oil spread from delizioseaux. I wish i could go back to their holiday market this week, but I'm just in town for the weekend. You definitely have to stop in whether youre just visiting or live in the area. Its dog and kid friendly with a great play area on the other side of the park!

Ample parking can be found in the grass and this market is very dog friendly with water bowls and all. Vendors ranged from artisan wood walking sticks and cookie dough varieties to a bacon booth and vendor specializing in middle eastern eats like tabbouleh, stew and halva (much lighter than the surrounding Southern eats like beignets). Prices were reasonable and there was a fun spirit in the air with free Santa rides on a Gator and trailer weaving its way around the market. The market is open until noon. I'm not certain if this is all year round (we were there the weekend after Thanksgiving). My only regret was not taking home a container of the halva (it's hard to come by in Indiana;).
