I've been several times but I'll talk about the 2 most recent because they were in the past year. Ok so I love the way it looks inside and out definitely a cozy retro vibe and it is very clean!! We especially enjoyed looking at the mini museum and everything else on the walls and shelves. Everything is displayed so nice and neat with plenty of space to look around and not feel crammed. We bought some candy and toys off the shelf and ordered a few different flavors of ice cream, all delicious of course. i wouldn't say the customer service is outstanding but I can't complain either. 1 lady in particular was very upbeat and friendly. read more

Good rocky road and orange sherbet. A lot of candy you can't find anywhere else....some from your childhood. Kids are the workers, and they are busy on their phone...running from a chair to the register or drive up....sitting with the customers on their phones......chatting loudly between them.....need to have workers behind the counter or in the back...not out with the customer especially when they are behaving badly. read more

I have been to the other Candyland location a few exits east of here, and decided to come by to check this location out. It is smaller than the other location, but packed with just as much goodies. This was a stop off on our road trip to Houston and wow what an amazing place. Outside does not look really cottagy more country western meets antique but maybe that's a type of cottage, but it's totally cool. Walk in and you are immediately hit with fresh fudge and ice cream and they make slushy limeades! Everywhere you look is candy. Mammoth bars of candy, regular bars, some types you have never heard of before. Candies are categorized so you can figure out the sugar maze a bit better but still the need to just walk and look is not erased by the signs. Gum of all types, jaw breakers big and small, pop rocks, chocolate of every brand located here. The old time candies are on the back wall and they are cool because they bring back the memories of your childhood. If you don't see it, simply ask and they can guide you to it. While I was in the store, local customers were coming and going buying candy. This is not just a tourist place, this is a local place. They do parties and weddings and all types of candy catering. I saw so many of those frozen drinks going out the door that I knew I had to try it. Oh my homemade frozen limeade, so good, and I did need to share. This is the smaller of their 2 stores - so if you get to the other store, which I was told is just two exits "back" it must be ginormous. Definitely a must stop if you are on I-10 on any road trip. It takes a special kind of ignorance to ruin candy. The young ladies who work here are disinterested, rude, clearly unhappy to be there... the candy is STALE and way overpriced. We felt unwelcome from the moment we walked in. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

ok, this place takes you back to the past for sure. be prepared to find all kinds of treasures and be prepared to spend way more than you should in a candy shop. we spent more than $50. mostly because we have six grandchildren, and of course we did buy some malts for ourselves, so that accounted for about 12 dollars, but the rest... all candy . its a very fun store, but i would definitely not bring children to this store... the cost will skyrocket for sure. its a fun store for sure, and worth the money just for nostalgia purposes. i know we will be back if given the opportunity. read more

After following a Blue Bell Creamery truck for about 20 minutes on the highway, I decided I wanted ice cream. It just so happens that we were coming up to an exit that had a sign for this little candy store. It must have been fate, I thought, so I decided to get off the road and get some ice cream. As it turns out, this was a wonderful idea. This store was extremely nice. The people here were very friendly and the selection of ice cream was very good. On top of that the candy they had on stock was amazing. It brought back memories of old fashioned candy stores that I used to hit when I was a kid. I would love to stop here again if I'm ever in this area. read more

Cute little shop for throwback candies like Long Boys and Sugar Babies...there's also an ice cream parlor with it. We stopped here on our way back from Alabama. I was craving some ice cream with some sprinkles. So I ended up getting a cup with 2 scoops of the crazy colors with sprinkles because they don't add sprinkles or toppings with their waffle cones, BUMMER. The crazy colors ice cream is basically food coloring on vanilla ice cream. I was disappointed because I don't like vanilla ice cream and this ice cream didn't have a taste to it. But this isn't a bad place to stop at when traveling on the road. read more

A perfect place to stop for a quick sugar rush between Houston and NOLA. The fudge is homemade by the owner and they give you a generous sample. They have a pretty amazing variety of candy, vintage candy, fudge flavors and ice-cream flavors. Clean restroom and drive through. 2-3 tables to sit inside and a few benches outside. If you miss this location there is another in Scott 10 miles away. Plenty of parking. read more

Candyland Cottage is a cute candy store and little kitschy roadside attraction. The billboards leading up boast "worlds biggest gummy bear," however there is no large or life-size gummy bears anywhere in sight. They do old-timey, nostalgic candies, plus soft serve ice cream. None of the employees were wearing a mask and all the food were just open in front of them.

They have an amazing assortment of candy here. All of my old time favorites and new favorites too. They serve bluebell ice cream too. You can sit out back on their deck or inside. I would pass on their hot dog in the future though. Cheap, but unremarkable. I would definitely stop in again for more candy. read more

I have been coming to this sweet spot for years and I swear it get better every single time I go. The fudge is the best fudge in the world. Seriously, the selection and unique flavors melt in your mouth. Also, the ice cream and candy selection is to die for. They have candy that brings you back to your childhood and the types of candies that are hard to find. Plus they have all kinds of sweet treats like truffles and such. I also got a frozen lemonade this last time, which is new! I love lemonade and having one frozen made lemonade even better! I highly recommend this place for anyone of any age! When we checked out with our candies we were charged double the prices that were on the packages. The issue was resolved but it was annoying since the prices were directly on the packages. There was also a birthday party that had just finished and the kids were jumping all over the place and no one seemed to bat an eye. Aside from those annoying events, the candy selection is huge and the truffles are delicious. The ice cream is mediocre. The prices aren't bad, either. read more

The girl at the register was nice but there was one girl who was behind the register that was making faces. She is describe as darker hair and on Sunday June 25 she had two braids in her hair. Stopped here after leaving Lafayette on our way home to Houston. Candy and confections galore! Staff was so friendly! While we were checking out, we were told if we need more fudge, just pick up the phone and they'd ship it that day. We didn't try the savory food, but they do have a menu of hotdogs, frito pie, banana splits, etc. If you're on a road trip and folks are getting grouchy, you've gotta make this stop! I think I never ate all the Jelly Belly's I bought here but, oh well it was fun poking around at all the different kinds of candies they have here and some of the more obscure things like giant gummy bears and candy from times past! Super cool point of attraction for kids, or really any one on a road trip since there isn't much else to stop at in this stretch of land! We stopped in because we were instantly intrigued by candy and ice cream signs! We aren't from Rayne, so we walked in and it is like a holy grail. They have so many new, classic, and weird candies (including a huge gummy bear). They also have BlueBell ice cream, over 10 different flavors, which I personally got a scoop of cotton candy and a scoop of Krazy kolors. If you've ever read or watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, this place is a relative. My boyfriend and I decided to stop by and I was like, ''THIS is Christmas!" There was so much candy that I almost fainted from disbelief. They had all the candy you could think of from gummy bears to fudge squares with amazing varieties to choose from. It was almost what I would call the Disney world of candy. The staff was nice and friendly. If you have a sweet tooth this is the place to go to. Now, I will admit that some candy is pricey, but most are fairly priced and affordable and can accommodate varying budgets. The bathrooms are kinda weird because of the doors. I went there fir the first time last weekend. It is a very nice place with a large selection to choose from. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The prices are reasonable and they have a nice selection of "gummy" candy. They have a good selection of Ice Cream which was very good. If I lived closer to Rayne than I do, I would probably go more frequently. However, I live in the South side of Lafayette so it wasn't really worth the drive for me. read more

This place was awesome. We went to have dinner at Gabe's then went for dessert at candyland cottage and it's a must see. They have tons of different candy new and old, big & small, fudge, shakes, floats, and ice creams. I loved the butter pecan with butterfingers and the cup was only $2. Although the ice cream and candy are ok here, I would not recommend the food at all. Our family stopped in on our road trip for a quick lunch. Thinking the kids could get candy and ice cream after. The menu said they had nachos, hot dogs, frito pies, ect. According to their website people rave over their food and come back for more! Well, I'll tell you the nachos were stale and the cheese had a funny taste to it, almost like it was out of date or bad. We all agreed, even my youngest kids said mom the nachos taste funny. We just decided to not eat it, and hurry up and go. We did get ice cream and some candy. The kids didn't have complaints about the ice cream so I assume it was okay. I bought some taffy, honestly I wonder how long some of the products sit there on the shelves. Definitely not a place we will return to.
