Lucias Bakehouse was my number 1, their donuts....omg. I also grabbed candles from the moonlit path, dog treats from PJs jerky and designs and garlic olive oil spread from delizioseaux. I wish i could go back to their holiday market this week, but I'm just in town for the weekend. You definitely have to stop in whether youre just visiting or live in the area. Its dog and kid friendly with a great play area on the other side of the park!

Ample parking can be found in the grass and this market is very dog friendly with water bowls and all. Vendors ranged from artisan wood walking sticks and cookie dough varieties to a bacon booth and vendor specializing in middle eastern eats like tabbouleh, stew and halva (much lighter than the surrounding Southern eats like beignets). Prices were reasonable and there was a fun spirit in the air with free Santa rides on a Gator and trailer weaving its way around the market. The market is open until noon. I'm not certain if this is all year round (we were there the weekend after Thanksgiving). My only regret was not taking home a container of the halva (it's hard to come by in Indiana;).

This now sixth-generation family bakery continues to follow the same simple, time-tested process that began in 1884 and nothing besides the delicious products represents this more than the historic structure that houses this hometown specialty bakery. Nothing says Louisiana like a taste of this delicious french bread hot from the oven, from the crusty exterior and light velvety interior it's needs nothing to take you back in time although a slab of salted butter could take the experience over the top. The staff here is so friendly and accommodating and are eager to share a part of the history - it's like no other place I've been, it was definitely a joy to see a business still operating much as it did when it started more than 142 years ago, this is a rare and unique opportunity to not only see but actually taste a bite of history and tradition. This was definitely on my radar as a place to visit and a place I plan to return too when visiting the area.

There were some that I never seen, and I had to buy those for me later at the store. All in all, a very good experience. ALSO, we really enjoyed the garden. They have a great Bloody Mary bar which is what brought us into the restaurant and of course ALL the sauces in the table to try until your heart's content. We were a bit disappointed this year because they wouldn't make virgin daiquiris for the kids because it was the holidays - even though there was literally no one in line behind us.
