An agreed upon estimate for $2000-$2500 came back as a written quote of $4500. When questioned the…read morequote dropped to $3500. This quote was also declined. Nice guy but issues with math. I've never had a business not stand by their estimate. That's why an estimate has a high figure. If you underestimate you eat the difference and be more careful in the future. He did share useful advice on roofing as I had originally planned to do it myself which I now will return to doing. Can not recommend. Edit: Individual called shortly after this post angry over review. I stated we had agreed upon an estimate. He stated that he thought he was using my material which is untrue. I have three tab shingles but prior to him leaving we agreed upon architectural shingles that would match the house. I offered the roofing paper I had purchased. He declined stated he would have his man bring his own. Thus it was quite clear they would be suppying all materials. Standard Roofing also implied I should have known about the cost because of YouTube. Really??? YouTube qualifies one to be a Roofer and Roofing rep? I guess we home owners can save thousands by watching a few 10 minutes videos. One star removed for unprofessional behavior. Definitely can not recommend. The below response by Standard Roofing is simple damage control due to a bad estimate they obviously will not honor. Sir my skills are advanced handyman and I also put the roof of that shed which your man complimented. As for materials AGAIN to be clear the individual was quite clear on what was to done and how yet chose not to alter the estimate. As for the mateial you mention step flashing is less than a $1 a piece. This job requires only a few. Your man stated drip protection is not needed as he pointed out Standard Roofing put none on our house. Architectural shingles only cost $44/bundle. So yes I know what it costs and your $3500 quote holds no water besides the cost we home owners see is not the DISCOUNT you get so my adding it up is simply an attempt deflection and yet another untruth by Standard Roofing. Your man made a mistake. You could have easily corrected it by standing by your estimate. Let it go.

I'd seen a sample of it at Home Depot, but my project didn't meet their minimum. Went to another shop in Powhatan; they were super nice but a bit pricey and their product was a fabricated copy. Gonzago was so polite, knowledgeable, patiently measured and convinced me to get the matching backsplash. Glad I did. and lastly, 3) The install team was polite, efficient and filled in the glue where I thought more was needed. (Keep the lady happy!). I've referred Melissa and team once. Hope I can do it again. Thank you, ASD.

I had hired Absolute Stone Design in the fall of 2025 to repair an issue with my granite counter…read moretops having an uneven seam. They sent out two guys to repair my countertop. Only one of them spoke English. None the less, they were able to fix the issue. Fast forward to February 2026 and the issue with the uneven seam returned. Apparently, the fix didn't stay. Spoke with Renee at Absolute Stone Design and explained the issue. They sent two technicians to my house to repair the issue. This time neither one of them could speak or understand English which made it very difficult and problematic to explain what needed to be done and what my wishes were. Me and the technician ended up having to use a translator app on our phones to communicate which was quite time consuming and only prolonged the issue of getting my countertop fixed. After 20 minutes or so of back and forth trying to explain what the process was and what my expectations are the technicians began working. They put some sort of device that straddled the seam and using suction moved the two different sides of granite to make the seam even. The whole process took a little more than an hour. Once they were done, they seem to pack up their stuff in a hurry and left. Now my wife and I didn't stay in the kitchen the entire time and watch them work. Once they left, my wife and I went to dinner. Once we came back and closely inspected the work, that's when we found the damage to our countertops. They had put a hole in our stone and tried to cover it up by putting some kind of filler in the hole hoping we wouldn't notice it (see pics). I was able to scratch out the filler with my fingernail. I went to the Absolute Stone design office and spoke to the owner and explained the issue of what happened and showed him the pictures of the damage. His response at first was denial and then asked me how do I know that wasn't there before they started work. Then he tried to explain how the stone is old and brittle. He tried to explain away a couple of different excuses so as to avoid responsibility. After a little further explaining my position and how I don't buy his excuses I advised him that I am not paying the $300 fee he wants for the work as I am not paying them $300 to come to my house and damage my granite and then not offer to fix it. The owner was OK with that. He also advised me that he would speak with Renee about the issue and someone would be getting back with me the following week. That didn't happen and no one called me. Only after I received an invoice in my email (about a week later) did I call them back and speak with Renee and explained again what had happened. I could tell from our conversation that no discussion was had between her and the owner. I also advised her that I was not paying the $300 to them after they had damaged my granite. She understood and was OK with it. Now here we are a few weeks later and I get a call from a young girl at Absolute Stone Design inquiring about the $300. I again had to explain to this young girl what took place and for her to speak with the owner and Renee. I also explained that they sent two technicians to work at my house and neither one could speak or understand English. Her reply both shocked and surprised me as she said in an indignant manner that "I don't see what that has to do with anything..." and before I could explain, she hung up on me. Having been treated like this by Absolute Stone Design, I would not recommend doing business with these people as they are not very customer focused and apparently are OK with sending technicians to fix your problem without even being able to communicate with you should you have concerns or questions. And it appears that their staff are not properly trained on how to provide quality customer or show any empathy towards a customer who has experienced issues with their work nor do they seemed concerned in any way on offering to make it right. Buyer Beware!

I'm surprised that this company hasn't "claimed" their business spot on here; but I'm going to…read morereview their fine work anyway... ‍ The first estimate that was given to us was by one of the "mega-companies" that one sees constantly on TV commercials- and I about blew a brain seal! - $25,000??!! My lord! Did they use tar paper with gold weave, or shingles made with Kevlar?? We had another estimate completed the following day; the price was less than the first, but the gentleman wanted to do a complete "Dog and Pony Show" presentation afterwards. Sorry, but I had to cut the first guy off from his song and dance saga early, and I didn't want another high-pressure sales attempt-- he wasn't too pleased, but he did email me the paperwork the following morning. I was totally prepared for yet a third turgid screed titled, "Our Roof Is Better Than Their Roof!" from anyone coming down the pike, but I'm happy to say that I didn't have that issue with C. L. Wright Roofing! Let me first say I'm not one to write reviews on every little thing, and I'm not trying to blow a ray of sunshine up anyone's pant leg with this one- they did a darn fine job, and they deserve a darn good review! Here is the service breakdown: * The gentleman arrived on time and was polite, with a no-nonsense attitude- being a veteran, I like that! * Within about thirty-five to forty minutes, he had a written estimate in my hand. It had a everything covered: the shingles, paper, the water damaged soffit and hosed gutter that need to be replaced, and a damaged 4' x 8' plywood board that was bad; (we were aware of these before hand) he also noted that the skylight that provided some daytime light to the attic was broken and leaking! Noted on the estimate was that other plywood pieces could be water damaged, and we'd be advised if anymore needed replacing and gave the price of each piece upfront. I did go to the main office and picked out a shingle color; Jo Anne was very helpful, and I was on my way in no time. * The crew arrived on time on the date stated a few weeks later; they were polite, and cleaned up the small stuff as they went. No cigarette butts or personal trash was ever noted, either. * The project was completed on the second day, and the supervisor arrived later that evening. He did a sweep of the property, picking up any remaining rouge construction trash or wrapping, then used a magnetic roller to pick up any nails or metal debris. Afterwards, my wife and I did a walk around the property with him making sure all was good to go-- and it was! The final cost: $6,700.00 That's a far call from the other companies! I can wholeheartedly give a 5 rating to this company, and would recommend them not only to family and friends, but to anyone else too. Thank you, John "Doc" Lykins EMT-Paramedic (Ret.)
