Our sink backed up and our home warranty company sent out a plumber to fix it. When snaking the line the plumber said that our pipe had broken under the slab and quoted a price between $2100-$3100 to fix it. We decided to get a second opinion and John came out to take a look. Before he could take a look at the problem with a camera, he quoted a price to fix it at half what the first plumber said. On the day he was going to fix the problem he took a look at the pipe with a camera and found no breaks in the pipe. He even had another company come out who used a different camera to verify his findings. John saved me a lot of money and headache. Thank you! read more

Extremely disappointing experience Over five weeks, their technician, George, scheduled six appointments with me. Not one went ahead, and not once did he have the courtesy to call and cancel. Each appointment required me to coordinate three members of my crew to prepare the cooler space for an equipment inspection and quotes. Before scheduling with George, I had even driven to their facility--one hour each way--to look at the Chiller. I invested considerable time in this process, remained patient, and followed up as needed. When I finally pointed out that this was the sixth time an appointment had fallen through, George hung up on me. I then contacted Dean, the manager, hoping for a resolution. His response was that they were busy and might be able to come out in another month and a half. Being busy does not excuse repeatedly missing appointments, failing to communicate, or hanging up on a customer. In my experience, both the technician and management showed an unacceptable lack of professionalism and respect for my time and my crew's time. I used this Company in 2024 for a clogged sewer pipe in my bathroom and to install epoxy in the remaining sewer line. In hindsight, I would have used another company. First, I don't think their plumbers and techs are that good. I have a blockage in my sewer line and they used an electric device to pinpoint the blockage. They were wrong by several feet and as a result, they tore up my bathroom floor. If they were accurate, it would have been a minor job. Second, they were always late or had a reason why they didn't show up. They eventually showed up but you have to be very flexible with them. I assume they overbook other jobs or pickup last Minute emergency jobs and as a result, you have to wait longer. Their employees and management were nice people. I think the prices were fair. Good, I wouldn't recommend them because it cost me time and headaches in the end. read more

Professional Warning Regarding Schroeder's Plumbing (now operating as On Service) I want to provide a fair and professional warning to anyone considering using Schroeder's Plumbing, currently operating as On Service. I used this company for several years, both personally and for rental properties I manage. Unfortunately, my experience ultimately revealed serious issues with workmanship, communication, and accountability. Three years ago, they performed a sewer pipe repair at my personal residence. The contract specifically stated that the homeowner would be notified if any additional issues were found in the line. I was never notified of any concerns and was told the repair was complete and satisfactory. Because my toilets had been removed due to flooding, they were unable to turn the water back on at that time. However, they did camera the line, and I have video showing a blue plastic bag still present in the pipe. The current failure is just beyond the original repair area. Based on photos from the initial work, the line was still covered in dirt, indicating the full line was never properly inspected as claimed. Had the issue been disclosed at the time, it could have been addressed then--preventing what is now a costly and invasive repair that requires tearing up my living room three years later. Additionally, I discontinued using this company for my rental properties due to other serious concerns, including: * A valve replacement that left only hot water functioning, creating a potential safety hazard. * Inexperienced staff openly asking others how to perform the work while on site. * Jobs priced for multiple workers that were never fully completed. While the company now attributes the failure to "old pipes," this is a common excuse and not an acceptable explanation. Older plumbing systems are routinely repaired successfully when properly evaluated and disclosed. I have been in this industry a long time and understand that mistakes can happen. What matters is transparency, professionalism, and standing behind your work. Unfortunately, this experience fell short on all three and has cost me thousands of dollars in corrective repairs. The estimates and scope of work I was getting from other plumbing companies through my home warranty had no other resolve than to rip up my floors and replace my "collapsed" pipes. These guys really helped us dodge a bullet and LITERALLY saved me at LEAST $20k by discovering my pipes just needed hydro jetting and my flange repair was just a plate replacement ‍. Job half done! My home insurance hired them for second opinion service concerning pricing of a plumbing co. doing my home re-piping. I was not satisfied with the price of the final connection of main drainpipe from house to city sewer, as it turned out, the plumbing co was working on this final connection when Schroeder associate arrived, project manager of the plumbing co. was also on-site. Project manager immediately went and had a conversation with Schroeder associate. At the end, the final second opinion review did not mention anything about this last connection which I was hoping would resolve my pricing concerns. My home insurance paid Schroeder $300 and if we wanted this final second opinion, it would cost us another $300. It was mentioned, off the record, that we were over charged by at least $8000 for this last connection! read more

Absolutely horrible service. While I was at work a huge sign was left to make sure to always keep the door closed as I have two indoor cats that cannot go outside, these idiots always left the door open over a series of days even after being told many times. DO NOT trust them!!!!! I had to yell on my camera to close the door multiple times. They were also instructed to place plastic down as to not get their disgusting shoes all over my carpet and they actually walked around the plastic and left stains. Their boss was told about these incidents numerous times and this continued throughout so he obviously does not have any respect for his clients. They showered up when they said they would and were much more affordable priced than other companies. They took twice as long as quoted to do the job with no communication about timing setbacks, requiring me to reach out consistently to ask for the new date of completion. They also would not put the rest of the bathroom back as they found it and left it very dirty after several requests to have them fix it and clean it to how they found it before the job. read more

This company was recommended to me but the experience was extremely disappointing. They jetted the kitchen drain line and destroyed everything I had on my patio in the process. All my furniture, pool items, towels, stereo, and patio floor was covered in a white greasy film. When I called to complain, Matt told me that they were not a cleaning service and I should have known what comes out of the drain pipe. What? I'm not a plumber. All they had to do was ask me to move or cover my items. It took over 3 hours to clean up the mess. I still have grease stains on my wall and door. read more

Was scheduled for a home water filtration install on a Thursday. Took off work in the morning so I could be here, nobody showed. I called and found out that I was not put on the schedule so I had to get rescheduled for the following week. Matt arrived timely however one of the fittings was cross threaded and leaking and he said he would be fine leaving it along with the water all over the flooring and charging an additional 100 dollars because of " inflation" from what was quoted the prior week. After contacting them he came back out to fix the leak the following g day but just cranked down on it with a pipe wrench. Very disappointing service. read more

I waited a long time and it took a lot of thought to decide to write this review. I have 2 toilets which are rear-flush models and I paid this company to re-mount them when it was found that the wax seals had failed which was the source of a major leak in my house. I had to call them back no less than 7 times to re-do their work as the leak would return after 1-30 days. After doing my own research I had found that wax seals are never supposed to be used with rear-flush toilets, they will always fail. In the end I had to purchase my own seals for them to install and the toilets have not leaked since. All in this time I was begging and pleading with their office to just do what I paid them for, and they complained that they were losing money on returning to my home so many times, this was their concern, not the fact that my house was being destroyed with water damage. So, this was their response to my walls being soaked, is how terrible it was for them. You are professional plumbers, it should not have been my job to find the correct seal and I have spent endless hours drying studs and replacing drywall because you for some reason do not know how to mount toilets. I did not want to leave this review, but I have had an endless amount of anxiety over how long this took and how much damage was done to my house without any apologies or anything resembling one from this company. I am kind of without words on this, I was left feeling 100% defeated by this issue and I still find myself checking my toilets every single day to see if they are leaking again. read more

We had Matt out to detect where the leak in the foundation was. This was most likely a second leak, as the first one caused a re-route by another company. We'll never know but Schroeder came out on 4/27/18 to complete a whole house re-route. Sean and Jameson were the ones who came out. They did a great job, were professional yet personable. We also went ahead and had them install a new water heater (our old one was installed back in 2003!). This company is terrible my apartments hired these slackers to fix my pipes in my bathroom the first day they were supposed to come I get a call that morning saying their employees called out so they wont be coming the second day they came they said it was worse than they thought so they dug a huge hole in my bathroom floor they took the sink and toilet out and sat it in my room said another crew was coming out and never they never showed up i called the company and a gentleman answered the phone he said they shouldn't have done that and will send someone else out surprise surprise they never showed up they came back the next day did some work left all my lights on like they pay my light bill and what do you know they left the toilet and sink in the middle of my room again i call again and at this point im uuuuuupset and the lady on the phone is over talking me and yelling at me for being upset with reason she claims she'll call someone to fix the issue we'll see I'll be back with an update read more

The company is trying to rip me off .. they do not use plumber who can fix plumbing . they have leak detectors. they charged me $300. to come out and detect a leak they did not find because it was in the 2nd bathroom behind the wall. I paid them $300.00 and they told my daugher and me that they could come out again if we can locate the lead. we did after tearing down wall we found it they came out on the agreement it was part of the initial $300. they (we) found leak, but that plumber only detected leaks not fix them . they are tring to charge me $250.00 more because they/we found the leak .. $250. is not for fixing the problem.. terrible terible service and clerks who mis lead customers. now i have to go to court. i am calling the better business bureau. asap .. any advide out there read more

They were recommended to us by our insurance company. At first they were very quick to respond but once the work started it was a complete nightmare. I initially contacted them on 2/3 for a broken pipe under the driveway. They came out the next day. Gave me a bid, we agreed on the price and the work to be done. 2/9 the workers showed up, said the way the repair was previously explained to me could not be done. They would have to do it a different way with different materials. I was ok with proceeding but asked for the updated costs. When I spoke to Erika the Office Manager, she was very rude. She said it was the same amount of work so the price would be the same. When I questioned the cost in supplies, Copper vs the pipe they would be using, she became short with me. I explained they had already started the work so they were not giving me an option to get estimates from any other companies. When she called back to give me the price she did not even say hello when I answered. She just blurted out the small discount on the price. I thanked her for the discount. The plumber told me they did not have the proper tools for the job and it would take an hour each way to pick it up. They ended up cutting through one of our landscaping pipes but assured me it would all be fixed. The plumber could not locate the part needed to fix the pipe he cut and was unable to fix the landscaping pipe. He did repair the busted pipe under the driveway but told me a plumber who had the part would be back the next day between 1-3 to finish up. 2/10 the plumber never showed. I called and Erika put me on hold and when she returned it was with a supervisor. He told me we were never scheduled for the repair and that he would not be able to set someone out until 2/16 between 8-10 am. I asked for confirmation that I would not be charged for this appointment. The gentleman acted like he was doing me a favor by "not charging me this time". I said I did not break the pipe your employee did. He said he would list it as a "warranty call" so I would not be charged. 2/16 the plumber did not show. I called at 10 am to see what the status was and again Erika was rude. She said "oh he's not going to make it, you were on my list to give a jingle". I'm going to put you with Ray, I think he's better suited for you. Not sure what that meant but ok. I asked if she could let me know what time he would be out because I had to work and could not wait all day. Around 1:30 she called and said he was on his way. They showed up and left without saying a word. When I called to find out what was going on Erika told me I misunderstood what he said. I said I'm not sure how I could since he said NOTHING. He just left. She said he went to get parts. They came back a while later banged around and left again. AGAIN SAYING NOTHING. The hole was covered so we assumed the work was done. 2/17 woke up to a huge mud puddle where the hole was. Called Schroeder's, I asked to speak to a manager. I was told Erika would call me back. I explained that Erika was rude and not helpful and asked that another manager return my call. I was told he was in the field but he would get back to me by the afternoon. it is now 2/28 and NO ONE has returned my call. Save your self the headache and call someone else. read more

Recently the ceiling above our kitchen sink began dripping water. Our home owner's insurance would not cover the damage, but the restoration techs they sent us recommended Schroeder Plumbing to the fix the leaking pipes. We called them and they sent Matt out, who made the repair with no problems to date. When our water heater was due for new anode rod, we e-mailed several plumbing companies to bid on the job. Schroeder responded first. Only one other company bothered to anwser with a bid that was a third higher than Schroeder's. So Matt took care of business again. He's easy going and knows his trade. We need more techs out here like Matt. If you live in the East Valley, you will not be sorry if you give them a call. Erica is a big help on the phone. read more

We had a slab leak under one of our bedrooms, which completely soaked the carpet in that room and was making a huge mess. I had another plumber come out to locate the leak, but they didn't have time to fix it that day- in fact, the other company came on a Wednesday and said they couldn't get us on the schedule to fix it until the following Monday. My insurance company recommended that I call Schroeder Plumbing. I called in the evening and they made room in the schedule to fix our problem the next morning! (It seems like Schroeder prioritizes emergencies and fixes them quickly, which is awesome.) Very disappointed in this company. They left my doors open to waste electricity. They wore shoes on my carpet, never put plastic down, and now I have to redo my flooring. They said I could have $100. off my bill, but that won't touch new flooring. Mr. Schroeder came to the house and didn't seem to think it was a big deal. John Schroeder Plumbing was a seemingly good company though we found out otherwise and will NEVER use them again. Back in November, we had a pipe burst behind our wall above our kitchen sink. So after we had our damaged cabinets replaced and decided to get new countertops at the same time along with a new sink, John Schroeder Plumbing took care of the plumbing with the sink and dishwasher. After John Schroeder Plumbing finished, our dishwasher started to leak water onto our kitchen floor. We then saw that the bottom of the dishwasher was completely flooded. We had another reputable company come out and confirm that the piping was not up to code. So we got John Schroeder Plumbing out to fix it but they claimed that it was up to code but yet the dishwasher continues to flood. So we got another company out and they confirmed again that it was not up to code because the piping was laying on the floor instead of it going from the dishwasher, curl up and then down and back up into the sink. So either the technicians at John Schroeder Plumbing don't know what they are doing or they are purposely cutting corners which is unethical. So whatever you do, don't go with John Schroeder Plumbing because they are an unethical company and don't care to fix their mistakes. They cut corners and do a shoddy job. read more

Reconsider hiring Schroeder for tankless hot water heaters. I initially called the plumber that installed my unit but found Schroeder's had acquired his business. They sent Mike out and while the leak stopped it was apparent that the unit was not operating properly. It was loud, the pump was excessively cycling, and excessive vent discharge on the roof resulting in standing water on the roof, so I contacted the manufacturer and then Schroeder again and after 3 weeks, Mike came out again and installed a missed oring from the initial visit. Pump cycling reduced to every 9 minutes but the unit was still noisy and 6 gal of discharge per 24 hours was coming off the roof. After 3 weeks of contacting Schroeder, I called the manufacturer and was elevated to a tier III technician that determined that I needed a new part that they would ship overnight to Schroeder. Matt came out to do install the part but when the water was turned back on water went everywhere. He left for the day with the promise that Schroeder would return first thing in the morning to complete the work and put the unit back together leaving me without hot water. I took the day off to receive them but no one showed and if I had not called them I would never have known. They told me that wanted the company rep to look at the unit and the rep came around noon. He had called Schroeder who told him that they were not planning on returning because they weren't making any money on me. The rep suggested I contact another plumber which I did sadly. The second plumber, Jason the Plumber, was fantastic and carefully stepped though diagnostics to determine what Schroeder had done and what needed to be done to correct it. Among several things, one of the largest issues was that a packing plug was blocking water flow in the replacement part!! Today the unit is quiet, my roof vent is not discharging, and I have hot water!! Schroeder was horrible to deal with, I have a damaged roof and elevated water bill from the discharge, and I paid two plumbing bills. read more

Schroeder just replaced the majority of our cast iron sewer line and as unpleasant as that is, it was refreshing to work with John and the folks at Schroeder. They were prompt, competent, courteous, and do not gouge or up-sell. I felt that John and Gary genuinely had my interests at heart in his recommendations. they took the time to look at the details and consider many options to arrive at the best solutions. This company fixed an earlier main leak under my driveway. I saw water on side of driveway so thought this might be same problem. When they came to look at leak they found a broken irrigation connection. After fixing this $2.00 part they determined I had a leak in the hose under the driveway. They do not carry the parts to fix this so had to come back at another time. They charged me $170 for the first call and another $320 when they came back to fix the leak under the driveway. At this point they should have made sure all irrigation working. Did not! Found out my back yard irrigation not going off so called them back. Guys came out and determined it was from a cut wire. Could not fox because again they did not have correct parts! Came back next day and charged another $175. I would stay clear of these guys. They will keep layering the bills on you! read more

We had a clog in our laundry drain, originally called a roto rooter service but after 3 attempts they could not clear the drain. Our homeowners insurance brought John Schroeder Plumbing out to help with the estimate, they snaked the drain and pulled out a rag.
