After shopping around and getting several quotes I decided to work with Lanre at On Demand. I found his pricing to be better than his competitors at 85.00 per hour. There is a 2.5 hour minimum which seemed to be the standard as well as a mileage fee. Lanre and I discussed my move multiple times to plan accordingly. He was available to me by email, text and phone which was great. The two men who showed up, Jimmy and Marso, were very professional. They wrapped items like my sofa and lamps very well and they kept up a rigorous pace. My only concern was how my storage unit was packed. I pretty much stood aside and let them do their thing but when I returned the next day I saw that the sofa was laid horizontal taking up considerable space when there was plenty of height for it to stand on its side and one of my lampshades was broken. read more

THE WORST MOVING COMPANY I don't even know where to start; the list is so long of how unprofessional & lacking basic knowledge of moving industry standards. I'll just start. 1) Confirmed for a big 2 day move, to start around 9am Saturday. Never contacted us on Friday to confirm the start time. We had to contact Lanre on Fri night & were only informed then, that the crew would not be arriving until 10:30-11am. Which they did not; finally arr at 12. 2)Lanre assured me during his estimate, that he would deliver wardrobe boxesone on Fri. I asked for 5. No boxes on Fri. Trucks arrive on Sat AM & I ask for the wardrobe boxes. No wardrobe boxes are assembled, & he only brought 3 small boxes, not the standard, taller boxes that professional movers always have on hand in the truck. After an hour, the boxes were finally assembled, by my son & I. Hi Because he only brought 3, we were unable to easily move all of our clothing, which wasted time. 3)Lanre's crew finally showed up at noon. Immediately I could tell we did not have an experienced crew. 2 guys were totally inexperienced kids, who had never worked on a big move. One gentleman had special needs; although he was very sweet, I was concerned he would slip on our front steps and/or drop boxes or furniture. The driver & one mover kind of knew what they were doing, but Lanre was the only supervisor & he was busy babysitting the other 3 guys who mostly stood around,watching Lanre & his one competent worker. So when On Demand says they only have movers with 3+ years experience, they are lying. 4) the movers caused multiple marks, chips and scratches on the walls and floors (see pictures). 5) crew was extremely slow! I've moved a huge household from LA to Miami & from Miami to Philadelphia, plus at least half a dozen local moves. I know how quickly & efficiently good movers work. These guys are neither. It took them 1.25 days to pack our belongings. The exact same belongings that took previous mover 1 day 2 pack/load. 6) crew left soda cans & water bottles all over, inside the house & outside. left cigarette butts all over the driveway. 7) day 2- again, no communication about when the crew would be starting, but we assumed it be by 10am. After MULTIPLE texts & calls Sunday morning, Lanre finally texted back with nonsense about his phone service not working. 8) As if that wasn't bad enough, he Then proceeded to me that his crew would not be arriving until 2 o'clock PM!!! I told him right away that was completely unacceptable. he needed to get guys over way before that time. The had finished at 8:30 the previous night. A 9:00 am start time gave the crew a 12 hour turnaround- totally enough rest to start work at a reasonable hour! Lanre said his guys told him "they were too tired to start earlier." smh!! In my industry, those guys would find themselves unemployed. 9) when the driver came 2 move truck to the new house (which, mind you, should have been dropped there the previous evening, so there wouldn't be any wait time for the crew while the truck was moved, right?) the truck wouldn't start. 10) one of the guys on Day 2 reeked of alcohol & was either drinking on the job or just prior to starting work. 11) despite every single box and piece of furniture being CLEARLY labeled, items were placed in the wrong rooms . Items that we specially marked to not be loaded on the truck, ended up at the new house. (photos) 12) Throughout this complete disaster, Lanre keeps telling me he will make things right, which I assume means we will negotiate a discount/credit for the costs to repair, paint & clean damage made by On Demand, to make up for my time spent supervising the movers, when I should have been packing up the last items for the move, & for the major inconvenience that Lanre & his crew caused due to inexperience & incompetence. I even have a specific discussion with him at the end of the move, that we will discuss the invoice b4 I pay balance, & how Lanre needs to go to his office & adjust the invoice b4 sending it to me. Please review the message I sent to On-Demand Services after a poor moving experience: Hi Lanre, hope you and your family are well I have to let you know I was disappointed with the job as a whole on Saturday May 2nd. The service/professionalism I received during my move in 2018 was very different than what happened that day. 2018 (reasons I re-hired your team): - Movers on time to originally agreed start time - zero/extremely minimal damage to my belongings - efficient and professional - a wonderful experience overall... 2020: - Late. Original start window 930am... called day before to say 10:30/11:30 arrived 11:45 -It was clear you were coaching/training the less experienced members which is important and great to build a strong team. However the number of times you repeated the phrases "don't drag it, pick it up" or give other consistent notes made me feel like the team members weren't listening to you or did not care to listen. - You were on the phone for a large portion of the loading in NJ, other team members also took calls during the job. I was paying for your time, and it was given to someone else. - You took really wonderful care to blanket and wrap all my items. But the team members unwrapped things before bringing them up the stairs which lead to a big black scuff on my white dresser, as well as other scratched/nicked furniture. This could have been easily avoided. I suggest that items not be unwrapped until they are placed in their destinations in the future. - Team members bickering or needing to be reminded (more than once or twice) to keep working. Unprofessional. - COVID-19 specific - never wore gloves when clearly stated online all members would. - After the job was complete we found small water bottles left on the lawn in NJ as well as cigarette butts in the house in Philly. Your company has a passion for the environment (so important!) But one of those steps needs to be cleaning up after yourself. - One team member admitted he was late that morning because he was out too late drinking. This is absolutely unacceptable. After that comment was made I was angry, and wanted the job done as fast as possible (hence leaving all boxes and even some furniture planned for higher floors on the first floor). We are nice people, and we enjoyed chatting with all of you during the job. But the team needs to remember we are not your friends, we are your client, paying for your services. Before then I was assuming things were taking a long time due to lack of experience which was frustrating, but acceptable. Now I know it's because 1/3 of my crew was hungover. This also explains the lateness. Unacceptable. - Lastly, I watched the scrapes on my wall happen, and I also watched/listened to your team member bring you upstairs to show you the marks. I heard you tell him it was okay and not to worry. Later, when I brought it up, that team member made comments as if the mark was not made by them. Making marks and having things happen is okay. Lying about it/ trying to hide it is not. Thank you for offering to come back to fix the marks. In light of COVID-19, I was not comfortable with that option. Having spackle (or other "quick fix" tools) should be readily available along with your other tools to fix any issues as they happen in the future. I hope this feedback will lead to better experiences for future clients. Sadly, I don't think I will be one of them. Based on the above, I overpaid for the services I received. Critical: Punctuality, Quality I used On Demand Movers based on many of their reviews. My experience was very similar to the negative reviews - confirmed arrival between 9:30 - 10:30 AM. They arrived after 11 AM. Standard 2-bedroom move with the exception of no sofa/loveseat and more boxes. Slowest movers ever! I moved from the 3rd floor to the 2nd floor 47 miles away - told them right up front. Should be no surprise. Lots of complaining upon their arrival and got "lost" for over an hour to my new place! Their lead vehicle arrived in an hour and more than an hour later, the moving van showed up. Boxes delivered upside down and sideways, even when clearly marked FRAGILE. I could hear their hand truck banging on the stairs. I am dreading opening up my dishes and glasses! After they put together my guest bedroom set, I touched the headboard and the BED completely fell apart and crashed to the floor. Mover blamed bed itself, and I told him that it hasn't done that in nine years! Another mover took a look and realized they put the sides on upside down! Imagine if I tried to make up the bed after they had gone!! At the end, the lead driver told me I had additional charges and overtime charges. This amounted to more than $300 over the estimate. Unbelievable! No sofa/loveseat to move and hardly any furniture, mostly boxes. Imagine if they had to move the sofa and loveseat? DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS - late (seems to be the norm in their reviews), takes apart furniture that shouldn't be taken apart, damages to your items, and then overcharges from the estimate!! read more

Lanre was quick to reply back to me with a reasonable quote and estimate; excellent feedback. Communication and delivery from point of contact to the final day of the move was superb. The workers are punctual as they are friendly and professional. Throughout the move, I had no cause to worry, because necessary precautions were taken to ensure no damages were incurred to my belongings or the house itself. The movers were as fast as could be, prioritizing and arranging my belongings to suit the space in the truck.
